After many years work in mechanical engineering, I retired so I could go sailing. I also enjoy a good game of squash, which I play throughout the year. When I'm home I like to share great meals and funny stories with my friends. This home is ideal for entertaining throughout the year and a great spot to gather your family and friends from around the globe.
Bill purchased this house in 2004
I transferred to Nova Scotia in 1999, and was determined to make the most of 'Canada's Ocean Playground'. I started with kayaking and was later invited to go sailing. The instant I felt the sails fill with wind to carry us across St. Margarets Bay I was hooked, I had to stay. The hospitality and friendship of Nova Scotians is so compelling I decided to build a home on the ocean so that I could enjoy the bold views and peaceful surroundings as well as the people. I built my home in 2004 and have never looked back. Now I sail whenever possible, which is why I am able to share my home with you, especially in the Summer and Fall! Come and enjoy the comfort of my home and all that Nova Scotia has to offer.
Spending time in my home you will feel any stress of the day melting away. It is so peaceful and relaxing here. If you've never sat at the edge of the ocean and watched the waves roll in, you owe it to yourself to try it.
And at night, watch in wonder at the stars. They are so clear and bright out in the country.
For our first trip to Nova Scotia, we couldn’t of asked for a more serene and comfortable place to stay! With Bill graciously greeting us upon our arrival, and showing us around his home was a great way to start, along with the lovely flowers, chocolates and wine that was left to welcome us!
The home has everything you need and the setting is wonderfully quiet and beautiful, with spectacular sunsets enjoyed from the deck overlooking the bay and the occasional seal popping up to say hello! It was a good location to start to enjoy such day trips as Halifax, Peggy’s Cove, Mahone Bay, Lunenburg and Kejimkujic National Seashore.
My only regret is one week is not long enough! If we ever have the opportunity to come back to Nova Scotia, we would definitely love to return to Bill’s home! I highly recommend staying here!
This is a lovely place, comfortable, well located, well equipped, fantastic views off the back deck and easy access to lots of cozy seaside towns, coves, and Halifax, would highly recommend
Bill was a gracious host and we thoroughly enjoyed our 1st excursion to Nova Scotia!
Absolutely stunning property with gorgeous water views. If you love to surround yourself with beautiful vistas and comfortable rooms, this is the place for you. Although a little off the beaten path, the house is still within a short distance of attractions in Peggy's Cove and Halifax proper and then a reasonable drive to the Nova Scotian wine region and other lovely places like Lunenberg. Our family loved touring around the countryside by day and then sharing a meal at this well-appointed home base in the evenings.
Bill, our host, is charming and helpful. He welcomed us with wine, chocolate, and flowers--much appreciated gifts after a long day of travel to get to NS! We were very pleased to find paper and food staples already provided in the house so we did not have to rush out to the store that first night. The beds were very comfortable and fine linens were provided for both bedroom and bath. Everything about the house shouted, "Welcome Home!" The kitchen was well stocked--it even had corn holders!
Our only regret was that we could not stay longer. Should we venture back to Nova Scotia, this will be where we want to stay. Thank you, Bill, for opening your home to us and showing us true hospitality!
''Tis was a combined work and holiday experience and each was excellent. "
We are 4 seniors in relatively good shape and we were looking for a quiet home on the ocean...we found it here at Bill's place in Blind Bay. We also wanted a home relatively close enough to attractions and places to hike and explore...that, too, was found here at Bill's place in Blind Bay. We went to the Bay of Fundy to experience the low tides and Lucketts Winery and to Halifax twice to visit the Citadel , tour the city with the Harbour Hopper, and eat at several wonderful restaurants on the Harbour Walk ...Bicycle Thief was a favorite. We loved coming back to Bill's home after our days of adventure. A suggestion for the home would be to have TV cable or satellite as we did miss the AM and evening news as well as being able to watch some shows together in the evenings after our days' adventures. The one disappointment was that we were unable to kayak due to the fog and wind conditions. We never cooked in the house as there are too many restaurants to try in the area toward Peggy's Cove, Indian Harbour, and Halifax. The house is equipped with most all you would need , has an awesome deck with 4 chairs ( a table would be nice), and the water views are beautiful. A special treat was meeting Bill who had fresh flowers, chocolates, and a bottle of wine waiting for our arrival. That made us feel pretty special.
