About this property

Waterfront Historic Home on FALL CREEK - Weekly rate same as 5 nights

Comfortably furnished, sun-filled 4 bedroom house (sleeps 7 on 2 queen beds & 1 twin upstairs; queen sofa bed on main floor) with two bathrooms, fully-equipped remodeled kitchen with brand new appliances, formal dining room seating 6, wood stove in huge living room, wrap around porch and two enclosed porches, with the sights and sounds of Fall Creek from most rooms and all three porches. There is ample seating on the porches including a pair of wonderful rocking chairs. The yard is level and grassy up near the house where there are a picnic table, four adirondack chairs, a charcoal grill and a fire pit - all of them brand new and with a great view of the water.
The house is a former creamery - a picture hangs in the dining room of a horse-drawn milk wagon parked in front, circa 1900.
House is located on 8 acres along Fall Creek.... Lots of woodlands to explore.
Approx 3 miles from Sapsucker Woods (Cornell Lab of Ornithology) and Ithaca Airport.

Central air conditioning in summer, and wood stove & hot-water heating during the winter months.

We are really serious about the fact that house sleeps 7 max.

Large screen TV/DVD player with Spectrum cable and ROKU.
Wired and wireless network available from Spectrum.
Sheets, towels and basic supplies provided.
Professionally cleaned and maintained.
On the bus line to Cornell and Downtown Ithaca.

The creamery sits in the front of 8 acres on both sides of Fall Creek where it makes a 90 degree turn in the little hamlet of Etna. Five miles downstream Fall Creek passes through Forest Home and Cornell University and becomes Ithaca Falls.
There is a house right across the street and a house next door - the creek and protected Finger Lakes Land Trust are your neighbors on the other two sides. The partially enclosed wrap around porch with views of the creek and back yard is a favorite year-round spot for us and our guests.
The Etna post office is a couple of hundred yards up the road - a great walk with your dog, who will be treated with a biscuit upon entrance.
The road is very lightly traveled by cars, but bike and foot travel is frequent.
You can put your kayak or fishing rod in the water from the property. Water levels fluctuate during the year, but there is always moving water and wildlife to be enjoyed.
Sapsucker Woods, the Ithaca airport, Cornell University, a brewery, restaurants and shopping are all within a 10 mile radius, yet you really feel like you are out in the country when you are at the creamery.
There is off-road parking for 4 cars right next to the house and the TCAT bus to Cornell and downtown Ithaca goes right by the house. Rental cars are available at the airport which is less than 5 miles away.

Family getaway at Fall Creek Creamery House
My family of four, including a 5-year old and 2-year old, stayed at the Fall Creek Creamery house for a week at the beginning of August. The property was just as advertised. As the host described it, it wasn't fancy, but comfortable. The house was a little rickety in places, and the paint throughout the porch areas was coming off, but overall it was as expected and nice, comfortable place to stay. Although the weather at the time was quite comfortable, the AC units were more than adequate and was reassuring to have in the summer months. The kids enjoyed the large outdoor space and the creekfront, as well as picking black caps in the back brush. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Even though pets are welcome, the house did not show signs of any pet wear-and-tear that might be expected. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future.

Comfortable with room to relax
Perfect spot for our families, including 2 dogs, to stay, spread out and enjoy a week in NY fingerlakes for wedding celebration at the Ithaca Farmers Market. The porches, fire pit and charcoal grill were great to have. The house is very homey, clean and functional with everything you need for making food and fun. AC units made it bearable and comfortable to sleep, definitely needed in the heat of July. We loved the streamside location with birds and wildlife and all the reference books and material about everything in the area. The stairs to the upstairs bedrooms and reading spot are original to the house and that size stairwell needs special attention for tall and big footed folks to safely navigate. House is convenient to many things to do, but comfortable enough to just hang out and enjoy nature. Everyone in our group agreed it was a great place to stay.

great place to stay near Ithaca
We didn't have a lot of downtime to enjoy the house unfortunately as it has a lot of great porches and outdoor space. The house was perfect for us - we all had enough room to spread out a little and relax after some long days of work. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for someplace in this area.

My wife and I live in Baltimore and plan on retiring to the creamery in around 10 years. We had no connection to the Finger Lakes until we traveled through on our way to Canada and we both fell in love with the area. We call it 'Drinking the Kool Aid' and countless others have suffered the same fate as we did. Two years later we bought the house and have spent the last eight years furnishing it and spending vacations there and enjoying all there is to do in the area.

Why they chose this property

Beautiful views, easy access to the water, birds and wildlife abound, house and property full of history, close to Ithaca but still 'away from it all'

What makes this property unique

You will immediately feel 'at home'.
Everyone raves about the wrap around porch surrounded by a huge old maple tree with views of the creek.
A picture hangs in the dining room of the house when it served as a creamery with a horse-drawn wagon carrying milk cans pulled up in front of the house CA 1900.
