Delightful getaway!
This cabin is lovely, cozy and very well appointed. The back deck and early spring views of the Maury river were beautiful and relaxing too. Great location close to Lexington but still felt like a real escape. Our host was accessible, friendly and very accommodating. We will definitely be coming back!

Birthday weekend
We had an amazing weekend ! it was very cold outside, but the cabin worked perfectly for the weekend, reading in front of the fireplace. It was the perfect spot to relax and reconnect. The host was great too. She even left a birthday card for my husband ! So thoughtful.

Cozy, private, unique.
We loved our stay at the little cabin in the woods. There were three comfy bedrooms and everything needed for a quiet, private getaway. I highly recommend staying here. The host was responsive and helpful. I'll definitely be staying again.

About the host

Barney & I both love rolling farmland & mountains. After spending several decades in California we left for a ten year circumnavigation by sailboat. We were ready to cross 'the pond' after 6 years aboard, when we discovered Lexington. We loved the farmlands, the universities, the seeming slower pace & drop back of 50 years. It is both lost in time & up-to-date. We love the juxtaposition.

Why they chose this property

When we had the opportunity to purchase this farmland we did not hesitate. It was love at first sight. As an equestrian for several decades I had always dreamed of a country life, close to town, with hayfields & old log cabins. Barney was raised on farmland. The Shenandoah Valley is hard to beat. We stopped sailing & shipped the boat back to California where we visit her a few times per year. Our love is the land, the old barns & the people who come visit us instead of us continuing around the world visiting them.

What makes this property unique

I think our favorite thing to do on the land is to walk through the woods & up to the highest hill where there is a 360 degree view of the Blue Ridge & Allegheny Mountain ranges. Many guests say they have walked up early in the morning, some at sunset & sat with a bottle of wine, a loaf of bread & cheese & watched the sun rise and/or set. We agree, it is hard to beat. Sitting on the back deck of the cabin with your loved one, sipping a cool drink watching the sun either rise or set is a memory you will take with you. Listening to the rain on the old tin roof, the smell of a wood fire in the fireplace & the occasional howl of a distant coyote for its mate are the sensory 'candy' that we need to remind us to slow down & connect with ourselves & those we love. It reminds us of priorities & wraps us in the stories this old place could tell...
