About this property

Escape Up North to Beautiful Beach Home on Grand Traverse Bay

We have been going 'up north' to stay at our summer home for over 30 years to getaway from everything! We celebrate every minute at the cottage we fondly call 'Camp Cruddy' and enjoy the white sandy beach, warm shallow waters of the grand traverse bay, fresh smell of pine, waking up and going to bed listening to the waves, listening to all the birds, discovering nature studies/wildlife on hikes in the woods, hunting for petoskey stones, sharing BBQ's, sipping local wines, watching the sunsets, walking the beach for miles and enjoying a beach fire with smores. It's our favorite getaway spot and we hope you enjoy our new summer home as much as we do.

Our beautiful 2 story contemporary lakefront home has a wide open floor plan perfect for relaxing and enjoying panoramic views of Lake Michigan's Grand Traverse Bay from the great room with a gas fireplace, casablanca fans and leather couches. The gourmet kitchen is large and bright with high end appliances. You can grab a bite at the kitchen bar area or catch dinner at the long pine dining room table. We usually eat all our meals outside under the covered patio deck or 2 large outdoor decks with built in benches and plenty of chairs to take in the spectacular view.

Our summer beach home has a master bedroom downstairs with a walk-in closet and full master bath attached including a separate shower and spa tub. There are 3 more bedrooms upstairs with a queen, full and twin beds. We often stay upstairs in the 2nd master bedroom which has a full slider and view of the bay along with a balcony to sit and savor a morning coffee or sunset glass of wine. Our kids love staying in the dormer/loft which is a great place to place games, read a book or watch a movie.

We have a large private lot over 300 feet deep with hugh pines and lots of places to getaway and enjoy being surrounded by nature and the beach and waves of the bay. Our 100 ft of private beach front leads directly into the sandy bottom swimming, warm clear shallow waters of the bay and you can explore the shoreline hunting for lucky petoskey stones or shells for miles.

Our second home
This is our second time staying at Camp Cruddy and we had another great vacation! The location is like no other - quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The house has all of the amenities with a great view and beautiful sunsets. The owner, Greg, is a great communicator and makes staying here easy. We’ve already booked for next year!

Wonderful second stay
We stayed at this property two years ago and returned for our extended family trip. You just can’t beat the location and the sunsets. Greg is so easy to work with and responded quickly when we had questions.

Great Stay, Beautiful Property
The owner was real easy to work with and the house was as described on the website. I had 5 kids there ages from 3-6 and they really enjoyed the property, very kid friendly. The adults had access to their stand up paddle boards and the kids had toys to play with on the beach that the owners provided. Would recommend staying at this property if you get a chance.

About the host

We are a Michigan family and MSU alumni. Our son and daughter are now alumni at USF and Santa Clara University. We relocated to Northern California to be closer to elderly family and try to get back to visit our beautiful home on grand traverse bay for family vacations. We hope to retire and live 'Up North' enjoying the four seasons and traveling.

Why they chose this property

Being 'Up North' is a way of life we celebrate as a family and the original cottage on our lot was a small one bedroom A-frame with a loft that was the perfect place for our kids to spend the summer on lake michigan creating memories. We called the old cottage 'Camp Cruddy' and kept the sign when we built our new custom summer home to share with our family and friends.

What makes this property unique

We have lived in the east, west and in between and always love to visit our home on the bay.
