The nearby village of Ludlow, Vermont contains many fine restaurants, while nearby Chester is known for its fine antique stores. Weston, only a 15-minute drive away, is home to the famous Vermont Country Store and the Weston Playhouse

In summer, the fishing, swimming, and boating are excellent and it is a perfect place to spend a family vacation. Just steps off the backyard is a multi tier deck/dock area with picnic table and boat storage. The lake has a gradual sandy bottom and is perfect for young kids playing in the water. The dock is a perfect place to tie up your boat, jump into the water, kayak or fish. We have two Kayaks, and a paddle boat for guest use for fabulous scenic trips on the lake.

In the fall, the foliage is spectacular and autumn is the perfect time to enjoy the foliage while boating on Lake Rescue or driving around the valley.

In winter, the house is also ideal for outdoor activities. The house is about 1 mile from Jackson Gore/Okemo. Lake Rescue is approximately one and one-half miles long and offers numerous activities in addition to nearby downhill skiing. (Ice fishing, Ice skating, sledding, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing)

Location, Location, Location!

  • 4 of 5

Perfect place for a group, couples ski trip. The location was perfect as it was not only minutes from Okemo mountain but also minutes from town which had a bunch of restaurants, bars and shopping to choose from. The house is easy to find but we were a little frustrated that we had to shovel a walkway to get inside after such a long drive. The house definitely gives you that rustic log cabin feel perfect for skiing, however all the doors and floors are creaky so if you’re a light sleeper maybe bring some ear plugs. Other than that the house was great and a pleasant stay!

Perfect location for skiing at Okemo!

  • 4 of 5

The farmhouse worked perfectly for our group. Those who skied enjoyed the proximity to Okemo (5 minutes). Those who stayed back enjoyed the coziness of the farmhouse. It was clean and comfortable. The two sitting areas worked beautifully - the one next to the kitchen was the hub for conversation and games and the TV room was the "reading" room. We didn't turn the TV on once!! Although the farmhouse is old, the bathrooms are all modern and updated. The jacuzzi was a great plus!! We will be back!

Perfect location for a southern VT vacation.

  • 5 of 5

Cathy was a wonderful host. The house and yard had ample space for our large family. Perfect rental for someone who is looking for a no frills, laid back, summer stay. This was our second year staying at this home and we left just as happy this year as last year.

Great location but needs some work

  • 3 of 5

We had a great time this holiday weeeknd at the farmhouse with our friends and family. It was located only minutes from Okemo and downtown which made it extremely convenient in terms of location. When we initially arrived the driveway was plowed however the walkway was not shoveled so it made it very difficult to get inside the house and we had to shovel ourselves a path to get in. The driveway was very icy for remainder of the weekend and there was no salt left which made for unsafe conditions. There was also a great deal of snow on the roof left from the last storm that continued to melt and fall onto the entrance throughout our stay. We found this to be extremely dangerous at times based on the amount of snow on the roof. We also found that the house had not been cleaned well and had a lot of white dog hair throughout the house. We were grateful to have a pet friendly place, however the cleaning service should do a better job in cleaning up in between guests. Also we were left with strict instructions on how to leave the house that we didn't mind - but one of the rules required us to clean and empty the dishwasher without any dishwasher detergent or soap left in the house. Overall we had a great stay while in Ludlow, however the house can definitely use some more attention to detail and better cleaning to make everyone's stay that much more enjoyable.

The farmhouse was wonderful!! Great location, close to town and Okemo mountain

  • 5 of 5

My family had a great weekend staying at this VT farmhouse. It was clean comfortable and very close to town and all the nearby attractions. We spent the weekend skiing at Okemo mountain and snowshoeing around the beautiful lake. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the Ludlow area.
