About this property

Lake home for family reunions, small weddings, retreats, and more

Serving families since 2010! This historic 9,500 square feet lake home is conveniently located on 745 Highway 45, Pelican Lake WI. We accommodate family reunions, small weddings, organizational retreats, group vacations, and other special occasions. The beautiful 3,585-acre Pelican Lake is perfect for fishing, boating, swimming, water-skiing, and other fun water activities. We provide 2 piers, one for your boat and the other is for the 85 ft swimming area with sandy bottom.
This old (1928) hotel has been renovated touching on nearly everything on and in the building. Inside is a spacious kitchen with 3 refrigerators, 1 chest freezer, a walk-in pantry, 2 big prep built-in tables, stocked with pots and pans for your cooking pleasure. You will also enjoy the spacious bar, living room area, 50-seat dining room, and kids room. The kitchen and bar are yours to stock with your favorite foods and liquor/beer.
The hotel is listed in both National and Wisconsin Historical Register. Over a hundred years of history. The hotel was originally built in 1898. It was first remodeled in 1912 with the addition of bricks. It was destroyed by fire in 1926 and was later rebuilt with the same frames of the building in 1928 which is now the current look of the hotel.
For decades the hotel was run as a hotel and restaurant and was the center of activities in the old days.

Why Stay With Us?
A Home Away From Home.
Pelican Lake Hotel is home for many families for many years. There's an instant feeling of home once you enter into the hotel (We rented the Hotel for our own wedding in 2010. We liked it so much we bought it.).
The kitchen was once a commercial kitchen which is big and fully equipped with appliances, kitchen utensils, and dinnerware. Every room is spacious enough for big groups. The dining area seats 50 people, and the bar seats about 20 people at the bar and tables. The building is about 9500 square feet. So there's plenty of room for everyone. The outdoor ground is huge enough to park cars, recreational vehicles, and tents. There will be nobody there except the renters, so you would feel the privacy of your own home. Some of our Families have been making memories in the hotel for over 25+ years for their annual family reunions.

We offer EXPERIENCE. The hotel is situated on the 3600 acre Pelican Lake. It has 330 ft of lakefront, 80 feet of which is with shallow sandy bottom for swimming area. It is facing west, so you'll enjoy the exquisite sunset, like no other. There are 2 piers in the facility to park boats, and swim. Activities include swimming, kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, tubing, water skiing, and more. We have 4th of July parade and we are a walking distance to Shabby Shack to get souvenirs or just to enjoy ice cream with family. There's that little kid in every one of us and that experience with your little ones enjoying a cone of ice cream is priceless. Boat landing is literally a house away! The town is also ideal for bike riding if you like riding under the canopy of trees.
The town is quiet, a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Family gathering to celebrate Thanksgiving in October since too many conflicts for the real event.
Terrific venue for five different families. Perfect historic old hotel that met all of our needs. Probably the best gathering place the families have ever had. Can’t think of a better place for 20 people. Great host who was responsive to our every request. Can’t say enough. Our second time visiting and plan on many more. Jeff Archibald

Annual Friends Weekend
We had our 3rd annual Fall Friends Weekend at the Pelican Lake Hotel! Despite rainy weather and a lightning strike, we had a wonderful time playing games, making food, and telling stories- there was even a murder mystery afoot! The hotel is an amazing space for 10+ households to get together with their own rooms, and enough separate common areas for multiple simultaneous activities. The kitchen is spacious with more dishes, utensils, and cookware than you could ever need. If someone needed something, you can bet we found it at the Pelican Lake Hotel! We are already excited for next year! Thank you so much!

Great spot for family vacation
This was our first extended family vacation together. We had lots of room for shared meals, games, crafts and stories. The bar was fun for the adults with the kids in the toy room next to it. Plenty of bathrooms for all. We spent a lot of time preparing meals in the large, well-stocked kitchen.

Great location, property needs improvements
We held a family reunion here for a week. 27 people age 3 months to 86 years old. Pros: The kitchen was large and well-stocked, the lake and the piers were nice, number of individual bedrooms was good for our group, dining room was big, property manager was responsive and helpful, location was within walking distance of the boat launch, BP station, and The Shabby Shack. Cons: Water was undrinkable so we had to buy our own each day (bad taste, smelled of iron, sediments in glasses). Overall cleanliness of property was poor (spider webs, dead bugs, overgrown plants on exterior stairs, we saw bats and mice inside the house) Furniture was very old and shabby Leaking pipes dripping from the foyer ceiling Water heater needed repair while we were there While the property manager was responsive, the Property Owner was difficult to reach between booking and our stay (often took days with multiple contacts to get a reply to a simple question) When we arrived, the internet modem was unplugged. Once it was up and running it only worked in the bar and the bedrooms directly above the bar.

In 2010, my husband Steve and I exchanged vows at this very hotel. Initially, we were renters, but our affection for the place led us to purchase it right after our wedding. Today, we're blessed to be raising our three wonderful children—Kal, Kate, and Kingston—here.

Steve dedicated 27 years as an Airline Captain for American Airlines, flying internationally out of London, Shanghai, Beijing, New Delhi, and Tokyo. Prior to his commercial career, he served as an Air Force instructor pilot for six years before retiring in 2011.

As for me, I hail from the Philippines, where I worked as a college instructor before relocating to the United States in 2007. Presently, I'm a Realtor serving the Fox Cities in Wisconsin.

Why they chose this property

This hotel holds a unique charm. It stands as the only high-end commercial-style building in town, steeped in a rich tapestry of local history. Many locals have grown up with stories about this place – from buying groceries to their first cigarettes or drinks. Fond memories of the old grocery, now transformed into a 'kids' room,' linger among those who cherish the hotel.

Built upon the original foundation of the 1898 Beach Inn, later renamed Pelican Lake Hotel, it served as the area's inaugural resort, a community hub until 1970. Through various owners and purposes, Gene and Shirley Kaczkowski held it for over two decades, reshaping it into a haven for family reunions, a tradition we've continued.

This iconic building remains a vital landmark in town. We consider it an honor to restore the hotel to its former glory. Standing proudly today, it warmly welcomes anyone seeking an experience that will etch memories to last a lifetime.

What makes this property unique

This isn't your ordinary hotel; it's akin to a spacious cabin, a home away from home. Upon arrival, you'll receive the key and the entire place becomes exclusively yours.

Immerse yourself in the exquisite sunsets and breathtaking views - a serene and tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Nestled in a certified historical site listed on both the National and Wisconsin Register of Historical Places, this secluded hideaway offers a unique and peaceful retreat.
