Family Vacation at Green Lake
Great location. Scott very helpful with unloading and loading. Plenty to do for everyone in the family. Older home, but lots of room, good kitchen, plenty of storage and wonderful views. Also very comfortable without the a/c on. Good sleeping.

Great Family Getaway
Bob was a lovely host. He was responsive to my inquiries prior to booking and was there to assist when we needed him. There were some hiccups with the malfunctioning dishwasher and boat lift, but we sorted most everything out. We really appreciated his assistance with moving our bags and supplies to the parking area from the house because the parking was up the hill from where we were staying. The location of the parking was not a surprise because I'd read other reviews. There were more than enough seating/chairs in the spacious living room to accommodate our party of 8 adults and 1 toddler, plus 1 small dog. The fire pit was lovely and the sandbox was a huge hit. The abundant supply of wood to burn was so appreciated. We enjoyed the kayaks and the stunning lake views. Having a gas grill available to us was absolutely perfect. We did struggle a bit with the cookware inside (everything got stuck no matter what we tried and there were 4 seasoned cooks in the household!). If possible, I recommend possibly investing in nonstick cookware for future guests. Overall, we did enjoy our stay. There were plenty of towels, sheets, and blankets. Bob made sure we were comfortable. The AC worked well when we were all inside with the doors shut and people weren't constantly running in and out. The fact that there were two full bathrooms made it easier to fit all of us comfortably. We recommend Bob's home for your stay on Green Lake.

Truly a Hidden Treasure
Bob and his wife were amazing host! Always available if a question arises. The property, where to begin. The house view overlooking the lake was breathtaking, morning coffee views were amazing. The place has all the essentials from a full kitchen down to having all the required things to grill or for the fire pit overlooking the lake (which we didn’t use this time but definitely will next time). The house is big, cozy, and clean. I could go on and on…but I will end with this, the property is a hidden treasure and can’t wait to return. Thank you again Bob for sharing your house with us we had a wonderful time.

About the host

Host profile image
We are the primary caretakers of this family owned home and have realized our goal to live at Green Lake. We have retired from teaching and providing computer services. With help from our son and daughter-in-law we are privileged to maintain this property. It is a hands-on project, and satisfaction comes from comments from our renters - 'comfortable and clean'. Although we don't live in the cottage, we are close enough to help if needed but not to interfere.

Why they chose this property

This is a home that has been in our family since the early 1900s. The original vacation home on this land was the historic 'Windmill Cottage' - a cottage with a working windmill atop a three story structure. That building has been replaced by our four bedroom home 'Hidden Treasure.' It has been a summer place for our family since the 1950s. It has provided many fond memories for us and we hope that your time spent here be the highlight of your summer experiences.

What makes this property unique

We love being near the water and the scenic beauty of the lake, but we also enjoy the rich variety of wildlife which come to our yard - song birds, water fowl, wild turkeys, and deer.

Early mornings are special times when we enjoy a steaming cup of coffee on the pier and watch the mist rise off the still waters of Green Lake.
