You can enjoy an entire weekend at the beach and skip the horrible traffic of "turn-around" Saturdays with our Friday to Friday rental policy. No traffic, no long check-in lines. Wake up on Saturday morning at the beach with the sun coming in your window and a whole weekend of leisure in front of you. When its time to go home, you miss all the traffic and arrive home relaxed.

This comfortable lakefront home is located on a quiet street just 2 1/2 blocks from the beach and boardwalk. It boasts stunning gardens, a furnished private gazebo on Silver Lake, a fenced in yard with spacious outdoor seating area, and a home-like décor. Enjoy cocktails on the dock and gazebo, or rent a Kayak or SUP to explore the lake. Children and pets play safely in the fenced yard. Grill your dinner and eat outdoors on the terrace.

The fully renovated 5 bedroom historic cottage has a first floor master suite with a sitting room and a full bath. The second floor master looks out over the lake and has its own full bathroom. Three more bedrooms and a full hall bathroom on the second floor provide plenty of room for guests. Our private outside shower has plenty of hot water and great water pressure.

Inside, there's lots of room for congregating on the huge sunporch, in the living room, or around the dining room table, which seats up to 12. The renovated eat-in kitchen is fully equipped for all of your cooking needs. Fast Wi-Fi connectivity is available throughout the house. A large selection of books, board games and jigsaw puzzles can be found on shelves throughout the house.

The house has heat and central air conditioning, with window A/C installed upstairs to provide extra coolness on really hot days.

Smoking is not allowed inside the house.

About Sally Morrison

Our family has visited Dewey beach and Rehoboth since the early 60s. My fondest memories of childhood are digging holes on the beach with my Dad and going on the rides at Funland. As teens, we loved the freedom of walking to the boardwalk on our own and spending the evenings in Grotto Pizza, the arcades and Funland. My own children grew up visiting their grandparents in Rehoboth and enjoyed the same idyllic experiences we had as children. We have rented our house in season for the past 10 years, and enjoy our own beach time in late Spring and early Fall.

Sally Morrison purchased this house in 1999

Why Sally Morrison chose South Rehoboth

This house has it all! It's right on the lake for bird watching, fishing, and peaceful times on the dock. But... it's still at the beach!! We walk or bike to the beach in under five minutes. We walk to the shops and eateries in town in under 10 minutes. This cottage comes with its own romantic history. It was built by a bootlegger who picked up shipments on the ocean front, brought them across Silver Lake and stored them in the basement.

What makes this house unique

>>We rent Friday to Friday so you have a full weekend at the beach and avoid the Saturday traffic.

>>Sit on your very own gazebo on Silver Lake and watch the world go by.

>>Master bedroom with private bath on on each floor

>>Walk or Bike to the Beach, Boardwalk, into town or out on the town!

>> Outdoor shower with lots of space, privacy and great hot and cold water pressure.

>>Parking pad for two vehicles, and 2 seasonal passes allows you to have up to 4 cars without hassles.

>>Forget the Kennel - Bring your well-behaved, house-trained family dog on vacation with you.

>> We have made an effort to stock the kitchen with attractive glasses, dishes and utensils that add to your vacation experience. No scratched yard-sale discards for our guests.

The house was amazing and had everything you would ever need. The location was ideal.

  • 5 of 5

The owners were wonderful. The location was perfect for our whole family ranging in age from 8 to 68. Lots to do within walking distance. Just a few minute drive form outlet stores for those who wanted to shop. Highly considering a repeat stay next year. Would not change anything about our stay and it was extra wonderful that we were able to take our dog.

Absolutely great house, location and overall vacation. Access to beach AND the lake was key! Had several happy hours on the dock. Owner has already commented on replacing TV and dock fencing/gate which is exactly my two comments for improving.

Lovely house, great owners,good time

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a lovely week at 217 Lake Drive in Rehoboth Beach. The 2 owners, Sally & Stephanie were great to work with. The house is a winner. Inside, it is decorated in blues & whites. They have done a great job combining the old feel of the house (ie) original flooring along with new/updated features(ie) enclosed sun porch. There was plenty of room for family members to spread out. We had great meals at the large dining table. We cooked out 2 times on the grill ,which was in good working order . There is a side yard that has outdoor furniture where we ate on those nights. There is also a great outdoor shower which we all enjoyed using. Everything in the house is clean and well thought-out, from the hoses at front & back entrances to wash sandy feet , little alarm clocks on each bedside table, ceiling fans in each room and beautiful beachy art work throughout the house. . My 86 year old Father stayed in the bedroom suite on the main floor. This was excellent for him=accessible and and private, with its own en suite and sitting area. There are 4 bedrooms upstairs, each with its own small A.C. unit & ceiling fan. The kitchen is large & well equipped. There is also a washer/dryer. The house also has a dock with a sitting area across the street over-looking Silver Lake. This was a nice place to sit with a morning cup of coffee or a cocktail in the early evening. We saw blue herons and ducks/geese on several occasions. The parking pad holds 2 cars at the back of the house which is convenient. The owners supply 2 parking passes as well which were greatly appreciated. I would have to say that while the house is 2.5 blocks away from the beach and boardwalk, the blocks in Rehoboth Beach are longer than average,so bear that in mind. Thanks to the parking passes one could drive all the beach stuff down in the morning and return it once beach time is over. This house rents Friday to Friday which is good b/c the beach traffic coming into Rehoboth on both Fridays & Saturdays is awful, w/ Saturdays being the worst. We have a house in Virginia Beach and I was shocked to see the traffic getting in and out of Rehoboth was much worse. I suggest you do your initial food shopping before you get to the house to avoid all the traffic along the access route (which is where the food stores are). All in all, it was a fun week with family in a lovely house.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you and your family enjoyed your vacation at the house. We have tried hard to think of all the little details that make a difference to our guests, and love that you appreciated them. I like your hint about shopping on the way into town, and I will add it to the tips that I send each guest before they come.

Nice home, great location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed with my extended family for a week. House is well maintained, clean and tastefully updated. A little quirky (i.e. floors in bedrooms are unlevel) but to be expected considering the age of the home. Location is great - 2.5 blocks to the beach and boardwalk (though the east/west blocks are relatively long in Rehoboth) and also right on Silver Lake. I would recommend this house!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review. We are so glad you enjoyed your vacation. I love that you think the house is a bit "quirky". It was built in 1927 by a prohibition smuggler who brought shipments of booze in from the beach across Silver Lake. My mother bought the house in 2002 and rehabbed it; including a new master bedroom suite on the first floor, modern bathrooms and kitchen, and a dock with a gazebo. She also planted the original gardens that year, and has maintained them ever since. Many visitors to Rehoboth have enjoyed watching the garden grow and change over the years.
