We come to Big Bear at least six times a year and wanted somewhere clean and comfortable to stay. You never know what you're going get when you rent a random cabin. We wanted to provide a clean, comfortable experience for our guests. We also wanted something very close to the Bear Mountain. The best part is you don't have to drive to the mounting during those busy months especially when the parking lot fills - just walk down to the shuttle stop for a free ride.
The goal with this cabin to have something very different from your typical 'cottage' home with cottage decor. We're going for a plush ski cabin look. Updated in March 2015, we've added all the comforts of home in a convenient little cabin.
This cabin is so adorable and in a perfect location. Also, we did not want to break the bank because it was a very last minute trip without a lot of planning. The cabin is very affordable. The cabin is clean, nicely appointed, safe and the owner is very responsive and helpful. The windows and door are new, the floor looks new and you can see that the owner is making incremental improvements which shows pride of ownership. I love that the bed has hygiene covers on the mattress and pillows, that the windows have solid locks, that the house has at least two C02 sensors, and it’s nicely decorated. The owner being so responsive put me at ease that we were in good hands and would be taken care of. We played all of the games and we loved the TVs with Netflix. Good WiFi, awesome water pressure and hot water, the heater and fireplace are great. It’s right by a little downtown of its own with a good coffee shop that is within walking distance. We went to the snow play tubing place and downtown, which were both about 5 minutes away in the car. Awesome location! Overall, we really loved this place and would def come back. It’s very close to other houses but still feels quiet and private because it’s on a nice street and away from downtown enough to feel off the grid. I have some minor suggestions that would take this from four stars to five:
Kitchen: Add whisk, masher and oven mits.
Bedroom: Replace polyester sheets with cotton and move linens to top shelf of closet to enable guests to use the luggage rack in the closet. Also, four sleeping pillows instead of two would be amazing. I would just replace the decorative ones with regular pillows. There were two extra pillows in the closet but no pillow cases. There was nowhere to put our bags and the room is so small that this basically blocked the small walkway by the bed. An easy fix would be to leave the luggage rack in the closet for guest use! The bed cover was also more like a traditional, old cabin and doesn’t really go with the more stylish feel of the rest of the cabin but that’s not a big deal.
Bathroom: We were only left one wash cloth. Two would have been nice since there were three of us.
Yard: If they fence off that back yard it would be over the top for the dogs and a small kid like ours. But I know that’s a big ticket item and would be a big investment but I am throwing out ideas if there are plans to keep improving the place.
You won’t regret staying here. It’s just lovely
Perfect little cabin for myself and my two boys. Tastefully decorated and welcoming with all the necessities you will need. Comfortable and warm while temps dipped into the 20’s at night. Great location in between the ski areas and close to the Village. Close to great restaurants and a CVS in case you forget anything. I had a relaxing stay and we all enjoyed the cozy, little cabin.
Great location! 5 min from lake and another 5 min from great restaurants, shops and the zoo!
This was a great place to stay, very clean, close to the main streets, and had everything we needed. Would stay again!!
we enjoyed our stay at this cozy, cute cabin! It's perfect for a little getaway trip for a couple; couple min away from the shuttle bus to bear mountain if you like ski/snowboard; btw, the water pressure is great :)
We loved our stay at this cute little cabin! We would definitely stay again. Great location and it was really cozy and clean and nicely decorated.
