Located in the sought-after district of Jan Thiel, this beautiful ground floor apartment is located in a gated community that will allow you to relax in a quiet, peaceful oasis, or enjoy the many day-time activities and vibrant night-life offered by Curacao - everything is a short walk or drive away. The apartment comes complete with spectacular sea views of the blue Caribbean. You will also be treated to a bird's eye view of some of the most gorgeous sunsets you will ever see. The property is part of the popular gated community of Boca Gentil Resort with its magnificent landscaping and 24-hour security.

This luxury suite features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a large living room with a flat-screen TV and a DVD player. Also included is free high-speed wireless (Wi-Fi) internet.

The kitchen faces the terrace, and by opening the shutters you get a bar with stunning views of the sea, where you can see the local fishermen sailing by, or enjoy the many cruise ships that come along. The kitchen sports a spacious open layout and comes complete with all appliances, including a large fridge, oven, dishwasher, microwave, and washing machine.

The master bedroom features an en-suite bathroom equipped with two sinks, a shower and toilet. The master bedroom has twin box springs and a walk-in closet. The two other bedrooms open onto the hallway. In each bedroom there are two single box springs and these rooms share the second bathroom. As such the apartment can comfortably accommodate 6 guests. Of course, all bedrooms are also equipped with air conditioning.

Our rates include all water usage. Electricity consumption up to an average of 40 KwH per day is also included, with any excess being calculated at $0.48 per KwH, which would be charged separately. It has been our experience that as long as air conditioners are not left on all day most guests do not surpass this limit, and we have almost never had to charge for excess electricity usage.

On the spacious deck you'll find sunbeds and a large dining table. The deck is located higher than the road and is surrounded by gorgeous landscaping, giving you a great deal of privacy.

The apartment has a communal swimming pool which is just steps away. As such, since the pool is not directly in front of the apartment, you can enjoy a refreshing swim whenever you want, but not be bothered by other guests using the pool at other times. This pool is shared among only 12 apartments. There is also a somewhat bigger pool located right at the ocean's edge directly in front of the Papagayo Beach Hotel - a complex of white buildings about a 5 or 6 minute walk west of the apartment. This pool, along with the sun loungers beside the pool, is for the use of the guests of Papagayo Beach Hotel and Boca Gentil Resort at no cost. For children there is also a large walk-in salt water swimming pool located on the beach, right beside the ocean, just a few steps farther west of the Papagayo Beach Hotel pool. However, there is a small charge for renting the sun loungers in this area.

The closest beach to the apartment is Jan Thiel beach which is about a 5 or 6 minute walk to the west of the apartment. The location is ideally suited for diving and snorkeling. There are also many restaurants and stores, two dive shops, car rental agencies, a spa and a casino along this beach. Beach access is free for Boca Gentil guests but there is a small charge for renting the sun loungers. Of the restaurants there, the Zanzibar is the most reasonably priced and has great food. Some of the other restaurants on Jan Thiel beach are a bit more pricey but provide a variety of culinary experiences. There is also a very casual and even more reasonably priced restaurant serving good local fish dishes among other things, called Brisa Do Mar (fondly referred to as Pop's Place) which is on Caracasbaai beach, about a 7 minute drive (30 minute walk) east of Boca Gentil.

There is a modern, fully equipped gym and sauna about a 5 or 6 minute walk away. It is called The Challenge Sports & Health Club. There are usage charges for this facility. The gym offers daily, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly memberships.

Near Jan Thiel there are also several bays, such as the Caracasbaai and Spanish Water. Here you will find activities such as sailing, windsurfing and kayaking, and for history buffs the enduring Fort Beekenburg (dating around 1703) and Quarantine Building (around 1883) representing the history of the area. In addition, Jan Thiel has a nature reserve with old salt pans. This area is a bird watcher's paradise, where you will regularly find flamingos, pelicans, parrots and many other species of tropical birds. The nature reserve is also ideally suited to running or mountain biking. Buggies and quads can also be rented for an adventurous trip.

There is a dedicated parking spot available for the apartment in the Bayside parking lot on the west side of the property. This spot is marked with the number 2, so make sure you only park in the number 2 spot (and not in front of any of the other numbered spots). Don't worry about the No Parking sign attached to the number 2 garage, as this sign does not apply to our guests. Alternatively, you can also park on the street directly in front of our property, as long as you make sure you're not blocking traffic.

For your own safety, if you plan on swimming in the ocean, you would be well advised to bring and wear water shoes when entering the ocean. Depending on where you enter there may be rocks, coral, sea urchins or other hazards that you might otherwise hurt yourself on.

Also, and again depending on the season, bringing mosquito repellant is generally a good idea.

Depending on your country of residence you may also want to bring electrical converters/adapters. The electricity at the apartment is 220 V (as opposed to 110V) and the plugs are of the European variety (2 round prongs rather than the 2 flat ones you find in North America). As such there are two issues to consider: the voltage and the actual physical shape of the plugs. Travel converters are generally larger and actively convert the voltage from 220 to 110 volts. Adapters on the other hand are completely passive and only physically adapt the prongs of North American electrical plugs to fit into European sockets - the voltage would still be 220V in this case. As such, adapters are a lot cheaper than converters but are only designed for use with electronic gear that is natively compatible with both 110V and 220V.

Most (but not all) phone chargers nowadays have built in converters and do work on both 110 and 220V ā€“ and as such generally only require adapters. That being said, you should look on the specific phone chargers to see what theyā€™re rated for, just to make sure. I do have a converter and a North American style 110V power bar installed behind the TV stand in the living room, so you can also use that if you like. However, if you already have them or just want to be on the safe side, bringing an adapter or two probably wouldnā€™t hurt.

Beautiful location, safe, great communication.
The property is beautiful and in an amazing location. I felt very safe there. Fun to see the wildlife in and out including birds and geckos. Boats coming and going from the island. We had everything we needed to make all our food there. We would recommend the grocery store about 10 mins away for better prices than the local one but nonetheless it was very convenient having one within walking distance.
