Make GREAT Memories at this Relaxing Getaway

A Place “4 All Seasons”

Get away from it all at this charming one level home. Situated on Oak Island Drive, nestled in the trees on a corner lot, '4 All Seasons' is centrally located yet tucked away from the hustle and bustle. In just six to eight blocks, you'll be at a beautiful stretch of sandy beach. Not quite in sight of the ocean, yet easily within earshot, you'll want to sit back, relax and take it easy in the rockers on either the covered front porch or the screened in back porch.

This comfortable home features like new furniture and decor. Centrally heated and cooled, you will enjoy the openness and natural light in the living and dining room with the double windows and bay window. Just turn on the ceiling fan and relax in front of the cable smart television (with DVD), read a good book while resting in the recliner, or play a board game provided.

Keep in touch with family and friends on the wireless high-speed internet. Or, if you must, take care of a little business. Just remember, the reason you are here is to relax, relax, relax!

The kitchen is well equipped and conveniently laid out for ease of preparation. It features ceramic tile floors and all the necessary appliances to create an unforgettable family meal. Take time to enjoy some morning Joe with our 12 cup, 4 cup coffee pot, or our 12 cup Keurig coffee maker. The dining room, decorated with a shell theme, features a rattan glass top table with seating for six.

The home features three comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom has light wood furniture and features a triple dresser and queen bed with plush mattresses, four pillows (2 have feather). It is decorated in a rock garden
theme and has a walk-in closet. Relax or take a nap under the ceiling fan. Wake up to the sounds of your favorite CD on the CD/radio alarm clock or turn the smart TV onto your favorite station. The master bath features a garden tub and window to let in the morning sun.

The second bedroom features a white bead-board bed with matching chest-of-drawers. It is decorated with a nautical theme complete with a surfboard floor lamp and ceiling fan. A perfect retreat for children, this room has a trundle bed and a smart TV with DVD/VHS. Multiple games and books therein for their enjoyment.

The third bedroom is decorated with a sea life theme. The off-white wicker furniture features a queen bed and a matching chest-of-drawers. Relax as the ceiling fan cools you down and watch the cable smart TV.

The second bath is brightly decorated in a beach motif and features a long window over the shower to bring in the natural light.

Once the day is done, wash the sand from your clothes in the washer and dryer located in the laundry room where you will also find in the cabinets many DVD’s, VHS, books, magazines and puzzles.

By the way, don't miss out on eating out on the deck complete with a seven-piece dining set. Enjoy a home cooked meal with barbecuing on the gas grill provided.

While located on the main road, the double paved drive is conveniently located on the side of the house for ease of entry and exit.

Just minutes away, you will find conveniently located paid public parking at several beach access areas. Paid parking started 2023 and runs from April 1 to September 30 from 9a to 5p. Handicap parking is free at all times in designated spaces and with handicap sign or tag. Other times and dates parking is free. The family-friendly beach has no high rises, few condos, and limited commercial areas. Enjoy a relaxing walk, jog, bike ride, miniature golf, boating, fishing from one of the two piers, experience skydiving at the local airport, or simply catch up on your reading or work on your tan. Enjoy the calming sounds of the ocean, stroll along the sandy beaches, wiggle your toes in the sand, or build sandcastles. While having fun on the beach, please remember to protect our sea turtle nests, pick up your trash, and do not walk on the dunes built up to protect our beaches. Access the QR code at each beach access to become aware of any rip current warnings. Stay safe while having fun.

Since Oak Island is a south facing beach, you can enjoy both the sunrise and the sunset over the ocean. A favorite place to enjoy either is from one of the piers sitting comfortable on a bench. You may be interested in visiting the Veteran's Memorial Park to honor and remember our veterans, fish off the pier, or watch the sunset while swinging in the swings there.

Nearby restaurants abound, but for those desiring to have a home cooked meal, you will find most everything you will need at Food Lion and Publix on the island or Lowe’s Food or Wal-Mart on the mainland. Getting that special ice cream at the Dairy Queen or the many other places will be a great treat!

Other things that may interest you on the island are numerous churches, parks, the nature center, and recreation center. You will also find a lighthouse, Coast Guard Station, public golf course, tennis courts, and a variety of interesting shops. There are a lot of beach rental places for a wide variety of excursions. You can also book a deep sea fishing trip. Children will enjoy the Middleton Park playground and the splash pad/playground just behind the police station. Also, behind the police department, you will find the cabana for Friday night live music and Monday open air market during season. Nearby is located a new skatepark.

Just 7 miles away is the quaint town of Southport where movies are made, and ghost walks are exciting. Known for their many antique shops and rich history exploring, the city is packed with fun and adventure. A movie theater is located between Oak Island and Southport.

For those of you loving a good yard sale, much pleasure awaits you! You don’t even have to get a newspaper, since only one main road serves the main island and one the ocean front, just look for the many signs. You’ll also find treasures at the many thrift stores in the area.

Enjoy a great day trip to Bald Head Island, the Wilmington, Carolina, Kure beaches, or Fort Fisher by ferry. The ferry trip alone is a great experience, especially for children, as they feed the seagulls and feel the wind in their face. While at Fort Fisher, you can explore the museum and battlefield and make memories having a picnic lunch under the Yaupon trees overlooking the beach. Many enjoy the education opportunity at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

So pack your bags and leave your worries behind to enjoy the comforts of home at this charming home '4 All Seasons'. Just like the name indicates, this home is perfect for any time of the year or any season of the year.

Great cottage stay!
The home was beautiful! Plenty of room along with all the amenities we could ask for - very comfortable. The location was a central drive to the village, beach and other areas of our interest. We enjoyed the quietness offered during the evening hours - very nice!

Perfect place to stay
This place was prefect for our family getaway. The kitchen is very well-stocked. The furniture is clean and comfortable. The screened-in back porch is perfect for morning coffee and quiet evenings and shelter from the rain and bugs. We did not have a want for anything. The owners are very communicative and friendly. We really enjoyed our trip and will be back to this same property again!

Great location
The home was in a fantastic location and an easy 5 min drive to the beach. We were never there during the day so cannot comment on traffic noise, etc. I can say it was not a bother at night. Interior was as described online. It was a very nice home in a great location, and we would stay there again.

Wonderful visit!
We had a short-but-sweet (3+ full days) stay at "4 All Seasons". The house was sparkling clean, comfortable, nicely decorated with a charming beach theme, and the size was just right for the 4 of us. Because the house is on a corner of a main road there is some road noise at different times of the day, but it wasn’t problematic for us. We discovered that the house is stocked with things to do: dozens of DVDs, CDs, puzzle books, board games, etc. But realistically, if you’re staying there you’re most likely heading to the beach! OKI beach just might be one of our new favorites: it is family-friendly, clean, un-crowded, and offers free parking! Definitely a “locals” vibe rather than touristy. Valerie is a great host, very responsive, accommodating, and friendly; she made us feel like we were staying at a friend’s house. We had an enjoyable stay, and can easily recommend “4 All Seasons” for your visit to Oak Island.

I have enjoyed many great visits and made many happy memories with our children over the past 37 years at Oak Island. Our 4 children partially gave us the inspiration to name our home '4 All Seasons'. The other reason is because, with them, we have enjoyed all four seasons of the year.

By profession, I am a recently retired neonatal nurse. I worked 40+ years at a local hospital. Being retired I look forward to spending more time at the beach and volunteerimg in the community. I have been a leader with the Boy Scout of America for over 30 years. I enjoy a variety of handcrafts and collecting. Shell collecting being one of my favorites!

My husband has recently retired from the US Postal Service with over 40 years of continuous service. His passion is reading. He loves a trip to the pier to watch the sunset over the ocean.

Why they chose this property

We started going to Oak Island over 37 years ago. It was not long before my husband and I realized that we would love to have a second home on Oak Island. We loved the family atmosphere, and the less commercialized area offered at OKI. We love how close it is to so many awesome activities but mostly we enjoy relaxing and spending time with our family. Sometimes just a little getaway by ourselves is most welcomed. Actually this is the second vacation home we have owned at OKI. We started out in a smaller home and as the family grew we decided to build this home.

What makes this property unique

Our home is about 6-8 blocks from the beach. A short walk or bike ride will have you at it's sandy shore. Convenient free parking is available at several areas if you go by car. Sometimes we enjoy area attractions and within a hour drive you can be at several other beaches which offers lots of shopping, entertainment shows, race car tracks, water slides and the like. We find browsing in the many antique shops, in nearby Southport, like going down memory lane. On lots of Saturday mornings we can't wait to go treasure hunting at the many, easy to find, yard sales. We enjoy a few quite minutes simply sitting back on a bench at the Oak Island pier watching the sun set. While my husband enjoys just relaxing in the gentle breeze at the beach, just listening to the calming sounds of the ocean waves, and our children play in the sand or surf in the beach, I enjoy looking for shells. There's no telling how many wonderful shells I have found. I have learned many of their common names. My favorite, and not so hard to find at OI, is the 'baby's ear' shell. (Maybe because it reminds me of the babies I take care of.) We also enjoy every season and holiday at the beach. I am fair skin so I'm not one for laying out in the sun much. It is no surprise that I would also enjoy cooler months. Can you imaging Christmas at the beach? It is so surreal to see the twinkling of Christmas lights at the beach. Our children have had many a visit from the 'Easter Bunny' at the beach and participated in the annual community Easter Egg hunt at Middleton Park. It is also great to start out the New Year at the beach. Of course, any time through the summer, Memorial Day and Labor Day are great too. Lighthouse tours are available and what fun we had on the Ghost Tour in Southport. Mainly getting away from the worries and woes of home is the one of the main draws to drive to Oak Island. It's our sanctuary and a dream come true!
