Fall: usually warm temps through November and a great time to be on or around the lake, watch football, golf on one of the many nearby courses

Winter: bring the family together around the holidays, enjoy the many fantastic amenities around the lake including wineries (Perisso's is excellent and only 5-10 minutes away), Enchanted Rock and superb Texas BBQ at Cooper's Open Pit in Llano.

Every season offers something wonderful out at the lake and we invite you to come experience it for yourself!

Our favorite fall retreat!
We have stayed here in the fall several times and always wish we could stay longer! Great space, just as advertised. Communication with the hosts is easy and timely. Plenty of activities to enjoy on and off the water, depending on the weather and your mood. An overall great retreat!

Living Large on the Lake!
I cannot say enough good things about this property! Our family was able to rest and rejuvenate in this beautifully appointed lake house. The surroundings were just what we needed and the cove was perfect for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding. We can’t wait for our next trip! The owners were wonderful to work with, too.

We have lived in Austin for years and love the many lakes, rivers and natural beauty that make the area so special. We enjoy travel, hiking, live music, sporting events and mostly keeping up with our two teenage sons.

Why they chose this property

The Highland Lakes meander through the beautiful Texas Hill Country and features Lake LBJ which is an easy drive from Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort-Worth and Houston. Unlike other Highland lakes, Lake LBJ is a constant level lake which means enjoyment year-round.

We have been making memories on the Highland lakes for the past 20+ years including Lake Austin, Lake Travis, Lake Buchanan and Lake LBJ which is a large lake nestled in a beautiful spot in the Hill Country.

Calm Cove Lakehouse is situated on 100 feet of Lake LBJ waterfront, in a large and quiet no-wake cove. The best access on the lake near the intersection of the Colorado arm, Llano arm and main body of Lake LBJ. Historic rail with trestle bridge at the entrance of the cove which is a popular spot for viewing the bridge, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and more.

The cove opens up directly to Colorado arm which offers deep water great for boating, tubing, water skiing, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, hydrofoiling and more.

We love this property because you get the best of all worlds on Lake LBJ - big water in the cove, easy access to every part of the lake and many beautiful views to soak in while you are relaxing on one of the large patios or on the dock.

What makes this property unique

Lake LBJ, originally called Lake Granite Shoals, the reservoir was formed in 1950 by the construction of Granite Shoals Dam by the Lower Colorado River Authority.

The lake was renamed to Lake Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965 in honor of US President Lyndon Baines Johnson. President Johnson and Mrs. Johnson owned a ranch on the lake where they entertained national and foreign dignitaries during his vice presidency and presidency.

Lake LBJ is one of seven fresh water reservoirs that make up Highland Lakes formed by several dams on the Colorado River. This portion of the river winds southeast from its headwaters near the border of Texas and New Mexico to Matagorda Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

The dams provide flood control and are used to generate hydroelectric power and recreational opportunities. While the Lower Colorado River Authority is not required to maintain a constant level at Lake LBJ the level rarely varies by more than a foot so it is considered by many as a "constant level" lake.

The constant level and location a short drive from Austin make it a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts and weekend vacation homeowners. The towns of Marble Falls, Granite Shoals, Kingsland, Horseshoe Bay, Highland Haven, and Sunrise Beach surround the lake offering plenty of restaurants, shopping and community events around the area.
