Overview

About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-7)

Situated on East Hungry Bay with western exposure and amazing sunset views. This 'lake house' cottage has all the amenities to make your vacation a very relaxing one. Owners work very hard to ensure guests have a wonderful cottage experience. We'd like to think we have thought of everything, starting with a large dock that offers excellent deep water swimming ( no weeds here), plenty of lawn furniture and umbrellas. A path leads you up to a lake side 'sports bar' with bar, tv (for those sporting events), sauna and hot tub for 6.

All screened in to keep the mosquitos out!

The cottage is tastefully decorated with modern touches. Malibu beach house meets Muskoka. Leather sofas, a 52' sony bravia tv with satellite, dvd and pvr. A white gourmet kitchen with everything you need to make that great cottage meal, large dining table (seats 10), laundry room, upper loft with 2nd tv for the kids and 2 futon sofas.

3 tastefully decorated bedrooms, 2 of which have sliding glass doors and lake views.

The large upper deck expands the entire front of the cottage and offers shady areas for relaxing and dining with more patio furniture and a new Weber BBQ.

There are 2 kayaks, a canoe and paddle boat on the property. The cottage has life jackets, boat safety kits, flashlights and water toys.

There is a cleaning service after every rental to ensure that when you arrive the cottage is meticulously clean.

As advertised: clean, comfortable, beautiful.

  • 5 of 5

A group of us has rented this cottage three times now (for a weekend in the fall), and each time we have been quite satisfied. The cottage is extremely clean and well appointed. It's large and well laid out, too, which means that every person in our group (two couples, one single person, and one 9-year-old child) can find their own space. There are 3 bedrooms in a "bedroom wing" (the bathroom is also located in this wing) plus a large loft area above the open-concept living room and kitchen areas. The fireplace is nice. The sauna and hot tub - which are in a gazebo outside, near the lake - are lovely and really make the place. Sharon is very easy to deal with and is straight-forward and clear, and answers questions promptly. I have no reservations about recommending this cottage.

High quality cottage in a perfect little paradise

  • 5 of 5

We are a Swiss family and wanted to experience a famous Canadian fall. We could not have chosen a more magnificent location. We saw deer, beavers and chipmunks and the sunsets were among the most beautiful we’ve ever seen.

We landed at Pearson Airport at about 6pm, and after getting through customs, bags and rental car, we arrived at the cottage at around 10:30pm. The drive was easy and the place was easy to find (even without a GPS).

Well equipped, well maintained, clean upon arrival with friendly contact with Sharon before, during and after the stay all support our 5 star rating.

Toys in a play area ideal for kids (and parents). Hot tub and sauna (and bar) in a separate cabin by the lake. Helpfully instructions throughout the house to help you figure out things.

Closest grocery shopping was about 30-40mins drive away.

Really a fantastic, cozy, modern cottage in a tranquil location that we can only highly recommend for those who want an experience off the beaten trail.

The property is in a beautiful position.

We had a wonderful stay at this well maintained and comfortable house. Sharon was extremely helpful with her prompt responses to our queries before and during our stay. The views from the house of the lake are wonderful and we enjoyed sitting on the deck and relaxing. The air con in the house was very welcome as we experienced hot and sunny weather.

This place has it all !

  • 5 of 5

Outstanding holiday home – timeless architecture combined with tasteful interior décor. The “infinity hot tub” with a view over the lake is spectacular. All equipment is very convenient and practical. Good quality kayaks and canoe. Beautiful bedroom with a sliding door to the deck – leave it open at night and hear the call of the loon. Large deck with Weber BBQ grill. We did not leave this paradise for a week – just for canoe day trips. Will return !

Beautiful Muskoka cottage with all the amenities!

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed 2 wonderful weeks here with friends and family, exactly the vacation we both needed! Lots of space for entertaining. Loved the sauna and hot tub. Beautiful shoreline and dock area, great for swimming. Six Mile Lake itself was beautiful. Sharon and Alan were wonderful hosts. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful place to rest and relax.

A true Canadian Cottage experience!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had the pleasure of spending a week at Sharon's cottage on gorgeous Six Mile Lake in Muskoka and it did not disappoint. Located approximately 2 hours north of Downtown Toronto, the property is easy to find and Sharon provides detailed instructions. The cottage itself is modern and perched on rocks with stunning views overlooking the lake. There is a spacious dock with deep water, plenty of water toys and an enclosed hot-tub/bar with views of the lake. I highly recommend this property for a hassle free, luxury waterfront vacation in the iconic Muskoka area.

About The Owner

Six Mile Lake is where we spend all of our weekends year round. A beautiful, relaxing place to be. As a cottage owner that has now been renting through VRBO and HOME AWAY for 6 years I can say that I take great pride in making sure every renter has a fantastic cottage experience by providing a wonderful setting, with a well maintained, will equipped clean cottage.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 1978

Why The Owner chose Port Severn

1 1/2 hours from Toronto and the International airport make it a lovely drive.

We have raised our family on this lake.

A great place to spend time with your kids fishing, boating, skiing, tubing, swimming, playing games and hot tubbing!

What makes this cottage unique

Six Mile Lake has 2 marinas for gas, boat rentals, ice cream and sundries. Both with public boat launches. Boating is very scenic with lot's of islands and many white pines.

There are tennis courts that can be accessed by boat or car.

The town of Bala is exactly a 1/2 hour from the cottage. This is a great little town with a TD bank, liquor and beer store, small grocery, butcher and famous Don's bakery. (their chelsea buns are famous). This makes for a great weekly visit and try to time it to catch the ski show they put on every Tuesday evening through July and August at 7:30pm

Another 15 mins gets you to famous Port Carling with a selection of great restaurants, lot's of great boutiques and a grocery store that stocks lobster and filet mignon that you wish you could find at home.

If you prefer to drive south, 25mins will take you to Rawleys Lodge in Port Severn that offers full spa services and a wonderful restaurant.(they do a great brunch too)

The town of Coldwater has a hardware store, liquor and beer and a great 18 hole golf course.
