About this property

A little Gem in the Marais. Longer stays welcome!

The March 2004 full renovation was updated in December 2013. This 'chambre d'hotel' apartment on the Rue des Tournelles is just a three minute walk from the Place des Vosges, one of the most beautiful 17th century squares in all of Europe. We refer to this 230 square feet ground floor studio apartment as 'le petit bijou' or the 'little jewel'.

The apartment was featured on the Parisian TV magazine show 'Paris Premiere' in April 2004. The local TV Company engaged a well-known Parisian designer and produced the making of a luxury 'pied a terre'. From the demolition of the old, to the haute design of the new, it is an encapsulated history of our Parisian dreams realized.

The renovation is a work of art and features a restored limestone wall, stone tile floors, a very accommodating bathroom, pastel striped painted walls, and the very hip 'kitchoo' cuisine with stove, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher.

All the furnishings have been selected to accommodate your most comfortable visit to Paris. Everything here is comparable to a luxury hotel except at one/quarter of the cost. The 4 star Pavillon de la Reine Hotel three blocks away charges 500 euros/night for a 150 square foot room and it doesn't come with a kitchen.

The apartment, in a 19th century 'Regency' style building, sits along the quiet rue des Tournelles. In the 17th century, the Marais was home to the most aristocratic families of Paris and 400 years later, little has changed in the architectural feel of this old quarter.

The very narrow rue des Francs Bourgeoise is now filled with 'hip' boutiques, and 'trendy' restaurants and cafes share the buildings of the old Jewish Ghetto along rue des Rosiers, but some of the quieter street like rue des Tournelles look the same as they did over a hundred years ago.

It's a short walk to the Notre Dame or the Louvre, but the Marais is so intoxicating, you could easily spend a lot of your time just enjoying the Place des Vosges, Hotel Sully, Museé Picasso, Museé Carnavelet and carefree walks through the small winding streets.

Services included in the cost are phone calls anywhere in France and in the US, cable TV, English movie stations, free and unlimited wireless Internet, linens, towels. Our bilingual contact will be just a phone call away if you need any help during your stay.

In the apartment will also be our guide to the neighborhood, favorite restaurants, cafes, wine shops, bakeries, and markets.

MON BIJOUX
MY HUSBAND AND I HAD AN EXCELLENT STAY AT MON BIJOUX IN PARIS. JOELLE THE PROPERTY OWNER WAS EXCELLENT TO COMMUNICATE WITH. THE PIED A TERRE WAS IN AN EXCELLENT LOCATION, CLEAN, QUIET AND CLOSE TO THE METRO. WE WILL RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY TO OUR FRIENDS. GINETTE & PATRICK O'HARA

A Little Gem
Please note I had to unfortunately cancel my stay and advised the owner via the VRBO website by email on Saturday, 7th March. For the record, I have stayed in her apartment several times and found it wonderful.; therefore I have given it a 5-star rating. Regards, Stephanie Townsend

Our trip to Paris
This was our first time to Paris and this location was outstanding. Everything was connected by the metro or train a short distance away.

Wonderful apartment, great location
Renting this property was easy. Joelle is very attentive to every question and emails a welcome packet that includes wonderful restaurants in the area. I especially appreciated that this is a first floor property since many are not and lots of properties do not have elevators. I loved having windows looking out on the street which didn’t have much traffic, but a few people walking by. (There are bars on the windows like most Paris first floor apartments.) There is a small kitchen with ample cookware if one wants to cook. Florence, the manager of the property and correspondent in Paris was very helpful in setting up a return taxi to pick us up at the apartment. I also appreciated that there was a phone where we could make international calls and calls within France at no charge. We will recommend this property to others and return ourselves as well.

I was born in France, Lyon and I have lived in San Francisco now for 37 years. David and I got married on July 15th 2016.. We feel very lucky to have two places in Paris, this wonderful studio and a beautiful one bedroom (VRBO 33626). It has been a pleasure hosting so many nice guests throughout the last few years. I am looking forward to having you too! :)

Why they chose this property

It is simply the most hip area of Paris, yet full of history, good restaurants and attractive shops. It's centrally located, walking distance to most of the main Paris museums and landmarks and easily accessible by metro. Simply the best area in town.

What makes this property unique

Designed for American tourists by a French native who has lived in the States for 36years. I had you in mind. The apartment is very quiet, very comfortable, clean and beautiful. The bed is extremely comfortable. I've had several renters tell me that it is the best bed they have ever slept in. Florence and Sol, my Paris contacts are the best!
