this property was beautiful, clean, and plenty of room for 6 people although we only ended up with the 2 of us and our pup. the driveway was definitely steep and curvy, i wouldnt suggest it in any type of inclement weather without awd or 4wd. the lake was very close, large, and beautiful. checking in was very simple, and the bottle of wine was a great touch to help us unwind on the first night. the hot tub worked very well and was very relaxing. we spent most every morning sitting on the screened in porch enjoying the peace and tranquility, except one morning one of the neighbors decided to cut down a few trees right next door lol. i absolutely would recommend staying here! also, the quarter mile diner has amazing food and Kerr's has everything from gas to groceries to fishing supplies and bait in a pinch all within 10 minute drive.
What is left to say? Thank you for the wonderful review. We do appreciate hearing from our guests.
Thank you again. Tom & Gail
Awesome get away
My brother and I visited with our fiances and everyone had a great time. The owners provide a great amount of detail about the place in the lease provided ahead of time. In addition the guide book has a lot of recommendations for local places.
Most importantly the space is a great fit for two couples. (with two additional single beds as well) We spent an entire day on the patio enjoying the weather and view. The kitchen is indeed well stocked with all the tools you would need. We brought many of our own but it was nice to have anything we might have forgotten. Since wifi has been mentioned a few times - it didn't cause us any issues with 4 people using it on our phones and was quite nice to have at times.
The owners mention the need of 4-wheel drive in some weather - the driveway is extremely steep and gravel. This can be a difficult time if you're not used to the terrain. In normal weather as long as you take your time you'll make it up just fine but with any kind of weather hazard you really should have 4x4.
One other small point, not worth detracting from the review - the upstairs bathroom is a bit tight. But if you can make it up the spiral staircase it shouldn't be too big of a hinderance.
Well thank you for the for the great review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to have you back again. Tom & Gail
Great family weekend away
Great little cabin with room enough for our family of five to get away for a long weekend. Walking distance to Warden Lake (good kayaking and fishing, but not good for swimming). Quick drive to Wardensville restaurants and grocery essentials. AC works well. Two full bathrooms was an unexpectedly great feature.
Thank you, With three bedrooms, it’s always helpful to have an extra full bath. Saves time when you need it. Thank you again for the nice review. Tom & Gail
We had a great time, very quiet and clean. AMAZING view of the stars. We will come back. Need some light bulbs in the Kitchen though
Thank you for your review. Lights should be fine now. Thank you for the heads up on that. Glad everything else was good. Tom & Gail
Just what we wanted!
We had a great time with our almost grown boys. Campfires, fishing, walking the "loop", hiking at Seneca Rocks and in Canaan Valley, movies, games, laughter, and lots of food! The deer sightings were always fun, and the neighbors we passed always gave a friendly wave.
The cabin was clean and well stocked. Any necessary communication was quickly replied to, and the homeowners and property manager were kind and gracious. We went prepared to not have much luck with internet (based on other reviews), but we found it to be more than adequate, and just needed to reset the router a few times when it lost a signal.
Wardensville highlights: Quarter Mile Diner and their Nitro burger and friendly service.
The local Farmers Market for baked goods and fresh produce in season.
The Lost River Trading Post- fun to browse the unique stock, and a delicious latte from their coffee shop.
We highly recommend this listing for a "get away from it all" vacation.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review and we hope you'll return sometime. For a small town, Wardensville has a lot to offer you. Thank you again,
Tom & Gail
This is a very peaceful property if you're looking for solitude. We really enjoyed our nightly campfires.
We are pleased to hear that, thank you. Hope to hear back from you. That is why we advertise quiet, peaceful. Thanks Tom & Gail
The chalet is located in scenic southern Hardy County, WV, near the George Washington National Forest and the Lost River State Park. A short walk takes you to the Warden Lake Nature Preserve and the beautiful 44 acre lake. It's an ideal area to enjoy hiking, biking, hunting, canoeing, fishing, skiing or just relaxing amidst nature's beauty. The proximity of the cities of Baltimore, Washington and Richmond (around a 3 hour drive) makes this location an ideal weekend retreat!
