About Bill Kammer
Retired NYC Public School teacher, now a full time 'back to my roots' Jazz musician (Berklee College of Music) living in the soul of New York - Harlem. In the past ten years I've seen Harlem grow to what it is today, and want to share it with the world. This is why I have decided to post my duplex apt on this site. I hope all my guests can get a taste of the Harlem culture during their stay with us.
Bill Kammer purchased this Townhome in 2001
Why Bill Kammer chose Harlem
I love Harlem for its Jazz history and hoping to further the tradition.

Great rate with a good location
What can I say? Bill was very helpful. The apartment was just as described. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance. Subway close. We took Uber’s most of the week. Easy to find. Built a hundred years ago. So it has pretty steep stairs to get up to your rooms. But if you want a nice clean place to stay and experience New York, the price is great.
Cozy stay, highly recommend
Had 3 nights to spend in the city with a total of 6 adults and a vehicle before heading upstate. Inquired about stairs (some in party have limited mobility-can do stairs but more than 2 flights would be asking too much) and parking before booking and received very prompt replies from owner. Street parking was no problem and only 1 night did we use the parking garage at the next block over. Stairs were manageable and not too much for those I had concerns about in my party. As described there is the typical stairs up from the street to front door and then 1 set of stairs to the apartment. Handrails made it safe and manageable for everyone.
Best thing about the property was, although it is not large, everyone still had their own private space and was very comfortable. Cozy in the best sense of the word is how we all felt to describe our experience. Everything in apartment was in good working order. Only room for improvement we observed was that some of the bed linens were showing their age and could stand to be replaced.
All in all, would definitely return to the charm and comfort we experienced here in Harlem.
authentic new york experience!
this was my first time to new york. I could not have found a better experience. lovely eclectic brownstone. wonderful owner. great service and communication. perfect location. ease with transportation and connections. safe neighborhood. thank you so much!
A little gem in Harlem
Stayed at Bills place for 5 nights in May with another couple. This place was ideal as we had a floor each and shared the well equiped kitchen. The house is on a quiet tree lined street and not far from the subway. There are a number of good restaurants within a short walk and the people in the neighbourhood were friendly and helpful. There are some steep stairs up to and within the property that you should factor in if you have mobility problems but other than that I would definitely stay here again.
Our stay in Harlem
The property was very nice. It had all the amenities we need to have a comfortable stay. It was located near subway stations so traveling in the city was easy.
Excellent landlord. Very helpful. Clean place.
Rough neighborhood at night.
