Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Step off the spacious oceanfront lanai, grab your surfboard, fishing pole, paddle board, fins and mask, boogie board or camera and walk our short hidden path to enter the ocean at Keolonahihi Cove! Or.... just sit back and be captivated by spinner dolphin, surfers, Humpback Whale action, canoe paddlers, para-sailors, swimmers, divers, inspiring tropical sunsets, romantic moonlight dancing on the water, exotic birds, and more.......

Our 2/2 vintage Hawaiian-style beach house overlooks Holualoa Bay and two of Kona’s premiere surfing breaks. Kamoa Point (Lyman's), a favorite surfing place of the Alii since the 1300's when the famous Chiefess Keolonahihi first rode her surfboard on the crests of the renowned 'left' surf break then known as, ' Kakala O Kamoa'. The cove named in her honor is accessed directly in front of our house in the same place where surfers have entered the ocean for hundreds of years. The Great King Kamehameha I learned to surf here while spectators viewed the surfing from a shoreline grandstand constructed of lava rocks along the north side of Kamoa Point in front of our house. You can enjoy this same awesome view and shoreline access the ancient Hawaiians enjoyed. If you like surfing, this is the best Kona has to offer. From the lanai, you can see the side view, or 'barrel' of the waves breaking at Banyans. Banyans, a great right break that is a short paddle across the bay, is another famous surfing spot. When the surf is big it can break clear across Holualoa Bay presenting a long wave that nearly connects Lymans and Banyans! This is an awesome spectacle to behold!

We enjoy incredible close interaction with the ocean from every room of our home and the newly expanded lanai. The panoramic view sweeps from Kamoa Point North to the Old Airport and beyond. Cruise ships are seen at the pier when in port. The ever changing ocean activity viewed from the lanai is an endless form of entertainment all hours of the day and night.

Comfortably furnished with big bamboo and Indonesian antique style furniture, stainless steel appliances, garbage disposal, microwave, dishwasher, washer, dryer, luxury bedding, towels and fully equipped kitchen. One bedroom has a king size carved four poster bed and the other bedroom has a Queen carved four poster. Each bedroom has bedside tables and lamps, a fan, dresser, and closet. There is one 7ft. big bamboo futon couch, another rattan couch with two chairs and an ottoman and two leather recliners. A teak cabinet houses the hi-def LCD television/cable/wireless Internet, DVR and DVD player. There is a stereo/CD player that is also Bluetooth enabled. We dine on the covered lanai, which has a teak dining table and six chairs, as well as a second glass/bamboo dining table. There is a King Size platform bed with a net canopy on the covered lanai. The barbecue is always ready for your fresh catch!

This private retreat is hidden at the end of a short lane on the ocean side of Alii Drive just 3 miles from the Kona Pier. It's perfect location is within minutes to shopping, beaches, churches, beach parks, resorts and all that Kona has to offer.

We thoroughly clean all sinks, toilets, shower, floors, windows, screens, fans, appliances, vacuum mattresses, launder all bedding and towels, clean all outside areas, maintain yard and pond, and recycle/ remove all garbage after each guest. Weekly trash removal and recycling is provided. Fresh tropical flowers greet you with special Aloha!

Right on the ocean. Private, with back to Ali'i Drive. Perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable Hawaiian style home. Flowering trees and beautiful garden surrounds the large, private lanai. Surf breaks on the rocks below...as good as the photos suggest. Just a short distance to Kona's activity. House is open and breezy, but we appreciated the air conditioned bedrooms on warm nights. Sleeping on the lanai was a Northerner's piece of paradise.

Very close to great restaurants, but there is a well equipped kitchen if you want it. We hope to return.

Owner's Response: Your review sounds as if you didn't have a very good time and I am sorry for that. My ad does not mention Central Air conditioning because we do not have it, it is in the bedrooms only. Your complaint of loud noise has never been an issue with my hundreds of past happy guests, and their comments reflect that. I am so sorry you had a bad experience.

Oh that view!

Good location. Comfortable accommodations for 6. Well stocked kitchen and beach gear. Great view in a quiet location. Limited beach access, rocky shoreline. Loved sleeping on the lanai. Would definitely stay here again.

Peaceful paradise

  • 5 of 5

We didn’t want to leave...in fact, we are still here, thanks to the graciousness of our host who allowed us to stay beyond the normal checkout time. We have a very late flight, and have been able to enjoy the house all day. The covered lanai overlooking the ocean has been absolutely, without question, our favorite place on the island! My brother and I shared this peaceful paradise with our 88-year-old mother and it was perfect. She has limited mobility, and was very comfortable navigating the house. The wheelchair ramp from the driveway, and the handicap accessible shower on the lanai made life easy for her and for us. She was able to climb the two steps from the living/kitchen area to the interior bedrooms with ease. My brother loved falling asleep to the sound of the surf on the king bed situated on the lanai. Yes, you can hear the traffic on Alli Drive which is about 100 feet away, but traffic slows after dark and with a little concentration, you can drown out the cars with the surf.

The kitchen is spacious and had everything we needed to prepare meals. Previous guests have left spices and condiments, which was a nice surprise.

Sitting on the lanai has been my favorite part of this family vacation. We’ve read and done jigsaw puzzles and listened to the birds that are abundant and colorful. The natural wooded area to the left of the house is a haven for birds, and even a mongoose who pops his head around the shrubs frequently.

We spotted whales while eating breakfast one morning. Kona Coffee and a whale sighting to start your day, what’s not to love? We enjoyed snorkeling in the bay right out front and saw many colorful fish. There is also really marvelous snorkeling at Kahalu’u Beach which is less than two miles south of the house.

The proximity to town and the ease of travel from here to various island sites is fantastic. I would, and hope to, stay here again. This lady from Maine has been quite happy here!

Great vacation rental!

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable home for four adults. We loved the space on the lanai. We even had a local massage company come to our place for Valentine’s Day massages on the lanai. If you are someone who likes some TV time, there is a nice family room with comfortable recliners. We found the kitchen to be a nice size that we could all move around in when preparing meals which we appreciated since we cooked a lot. We would stay here again!
