About this property

Cozy Studio Close to Hiking, Lake, Nature

This cozy studio is surrounded by mountains on three sides, and the tranquility of the desert help to make this vacation get-away the perfect place to relax and enjoy.

Originally built as the showroom of the owner's pottery, we are happy that our guests can now enjoy this part of the space, with it's own separate entrance. The owner continues to work in the pottery on the other side of the studio, so be sure and ask for a tour!

Two large windows allow plenty of natural sunlight in, with a beautiful view of the Superstition Mountains.

The separate bathroom includes a large, custom tiled shower. The living area has a bookcase (lots of books, DVDs and games), loveseat, a chair, a smart TV and DVD player, closet, and a storage cabinet.

Outside, an outdoor patio and barbeque area are on the main level, and an awesome viewing deck above provides the perfect setting for a glass of wine at the end of the day.

There’s plenty to cook with including a convection oven, microwave oven, electric burner, skillet, pans, crock pot, single burner, coffee pot, teapot, and toaster. All cooking utensils, plates, glasses, etc., are included, as well as all linens, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, towels, dishes, and utensils.

We are located in the Arizona desert, closely surrounded by beautiful mountains, native plants, and occasional wildlife. We are within walking, hiking, and biking distance to Usery Mountain Park, which includes many walking and biking trails, a world class archery range and several picnic areas. Rio Salado Shooting range is 10 minutes away. The Superstition Mountains are 10 miles due east. The Salt River is nearby, home to the Salt River wild horses. There are also four lakes where you can enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, etc. Beautiful golf courses are also within a couple of miles.

The owners live on the same one-acre property in a separate residence, so if you need anything or have any questions, they are easily accessible.

This is a non-smoking, no partying, no pets property.

March getaway
This very clean and organized bachelor pad had everything we needed for our stay. Desert walking trails are right at our doorstep and it is quiet and away from the traffic and crowds in Pheonix. We were easily able to visit all the attractions we hoped to see while in the area such as Taliesin, Desert Botanical Garden, Tortilla Flat, Boyce Thompson Arbouretum, plus others. The owners were very helpful and genuinely nice people.

Oasis in the desert
This is a beautiful space to stay when visiting the Mesa area. It’s nice to be away from the landlocked parking lots of the city. Beautiful open space views of the mountains, sunrise and sunsets. Joelyn and Chip were very warm and welcoming and we appreciated their greeting upon arrival. Pictures represent the space very well, and kitchenette had more than we anticipated. The highlight for us was access to all of the walking trails, second to seeing and learning about Chip’s pottery kingdom. Definitely recommend having a car given the fact that the location is on the edge of the town of Mesa. We would definitely come back and stay again.

We love being able to unwind in the quiet and spaciousness of our desert surroundings. We moved into our house about twenty years ago and built the separate studio on our one-acre property a few years later.

The studio is attached to the pottery, where Chip, the owner, can be found most days, making tiles, cups, bowls and other cool stuff.

Why they chose this property

Chip is a ceramic tile and pottery artist. When his projects started getting too big, we realized we needed more space, so we moved out to east Mesa, where we had the room to build an art studio behind our house. The added bonus is that it's also close to hiking, mountain biking, and the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
Part of the art studio has been converted to the vacation rental, complete with it's own entrance, patio, and upper deck. They share a wall, but are completely closed off from each other.

What makes this property unique

The views from our deck are amazing, especially at sunrise and sunset. We're a short 20-minute ride to the Salt River, a popular destination for those who are looking for a glimpse of the Salt River Wild Horses. There are many hiking trails and golf courses in the area, as well as coffee shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. Close freeway access takes you to cultural events, movie theatres, hospitals, public transportation, and the airport.

Chip is happy to show you his pottery studio and his latest works. He's also a great resource for hiking and mountain biking in our surrounding mountains.
