The Carlyle is located on one and only Ocean Drive, Miami’s most popular promenade. If you were to visit Miami without taking a stroll down Ocean Drive, the experience just wouldn't be complete. South Beach Dog friendly condo!

We had an excellent stay at the CARLYLE 3F ! Although the suite is in need of updating and a bunch of silly minor repairs, the unit was very comfortable for our 2 month visit at South Beach with our dog. I can't say enough about the Concierge staff especially Lillian, who immediately adressed our every concern! The location is awesome and the front windows are sound proofed! Newer furniture, comfortable chairs and a table, a better equipped kitchen and a coat of paint will really help this place get 5 stars. The other suites that I saw in the building were stunning!

Not bad at all for the price

This was a nice property the things I didn't like were probably just my preference type of issues. One thing it only had a view of the cafe patio area, but not the beach. Nearly everything in the room is lowered way down including the bed, which made it hard to get in and out of the bed. Also the bed isn't very solid. Seemed cheap to be honest. Bathroom was nice though and nice kitchen set. Tv and dvd player set up could have been set up better. Couch was very uncomfortable and dingy looking. This place has a lot of potential, but small things were over looked or need to be update. But overall not a bad place for the location and price. I would still recommend to others.

P.S. There is a parking garage near the property which is cool but they don't validate and its $1 per hour to park there or 4 per hour to park on street. The building offers no parking.

Poorly Maintained. Property manager unable to effect repairs. Amenities not functioning.

The location was exactly what we were looking for and the art deco area was very entertaining (but expensive). Beach availability was super. The building staff was delightful and tried to be helpful but the amenities in the unit were a SEVERE disappointment. The unit had almost 1/2 of its lighting non-functional (one fixture even dangerous) so it was as very dark at night and we had to move the two table lamps around to see what we were doing. The advertised jetted tub did not work at all. The shower head was so restricted that it was difficult to bathe. The tile floors were so slippery in the bathroom are that it presented a real hazard. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the cheap mattress needs to be replaced. The sofa was very dirty and needs proper cleaning. The cooking utensils were mostly in disrepair and difficult/dangerous to use. The building needs a better way for guests to get luggage up to the units. Hauling up stairs without a cart to get to the elevator is unacceptable. There was an unacceptable level if mildew/mold smell in the unit that impacted members of my family. Further the Internet access was ineffective.

The "excuse" that the owner is not reachable to approve expending funds for repairs/maintenance to the unit is ridiculous. If the property representative is going to act as a rental agent for this property he needs to have the authority to get it fixed. He appeared to have the authority to increase the (expensive) rate just because it was a holiday week!

One last item is to caution folks is to be careful of the car parking valet service. We had very good service from friendly, delightful valets all week until the last morning when we called for the car early to get loaded for the trip home. The driver who delivered the car had done over $2000 dollars damage to the right rear bumper and disguised it by turning off the driving assist system and insisting on backing into the space so I didn't need to shift into reverse before leaving. We discovered the damage two hours and 100 miles later on the way home. The valet service has been unresponsive to myself and my insurance company avoiding even a discussion of the situation. We wondered why that morning driver rushed off so fast after delivering the car without even waiting for his tip...

I would not recommend renting this property until they get their act together. This rental is our first Home Away/VRBO rental, of many in the past, that we feel was not worth the cost

Will NOT do this again

This condo was in a great spot, if you want to be in the middle of the action. We came as a family (2 kids) in the beginning of August and it was so loud at night and over crowded. You could hear the music blasting and dishes being cleaned from the kitchen below. There were 2 blow up mattresses that didn't blow up and there weren't any sheets or pillows for it. We asked the guy at the desk, but he told us he couldn't provide those items. Honestly, the room looks great in the pictures, but when we got there, we were very disappointed. The ceiling had leaks in it, the stools and toilet paper holders were rusted, there were large cracks in the tile in the bathroom, the furniture was "cheap" and things were just old and unkept. There was also a gross, stained mattress and boxspring stuffed in the closet. We wanted to leave but decided to stayed for the first 2 nights and left before our third night. We knew we were wasting our money since we paid for it and there weren't any "refunds" but we didn't care . We won't ever do this again :(

Owner's Response: For those that want to be in heart of South Beach on Ocean Drive with beach across the street, nightlife, restaurants, and shops just steps away, then The Carlyle is the right place for you. Ocean Drive is truly Miami's most popular promenade and attracts people from all over the world. If you want quietness and don’t want to see people, please do not come to South Beach but go to a secluded mountain cabin resorts instead. It's unfortunate guest did not have a good time in South Beach and was bothered by liveliness of Ocean Drive. Let me state few facts: You cannot hear music blasting inside the unit with windows closed. This unit is on the 3rd floor faces Ocean Drive, set back overlooking the courtyard. Double pane, storm proof windows prevent any noise. Obviously, guest is exaggerating in stating they can hear dishes being washed in restaurants from within the unit, it’s just not possible. In master bedroom, there’s a queen-size bed which sleeps 2 people. Back in March owner got brand new sofa / couch convertible bed which can sleep additional 2 people, so I’m not sure why guest decided to sleep on blow up mattress. All mattresses have mattress cover protectors in case of any spills. There are plenty of sheets, pillows, and covers to sleep 4 people. Also, if ceiling was leaking any water, guest would not be permitted to stay there. For youtube video reviews of sofa / couch convertible bed which was purchased, please email me and I'll provide link. Video shows how sofa couch converts to a queen-size bed. We always strive to keep our units in shape and keep our guests happy.
