Family Ski Cabin, Inviting, Comfortable, Great Value, Internet

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,400 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

This privately owned cabin is a warm and inviting place for a family get-away or romantic retreat at Apex Mountain! The cabin is located on a quiet cul de sac, a few minutes 'ski' from the resort base.

The bedrooms provide comfortable accommodation for 4 adults or 2 families with their children under 16 (max occupancy is 6 persons). No-one needs to sleep on a sofa bed in the living room! As the cabin is about 30 yrs old, there is only one bathroom, but we have a huge hot water tank and everyone has fun sharing!

It is extremely comfortable and energy efficient with warm cedar walls throughout, and a great wood burning fireplace/heater (we supply the wood - don't worry there's electric heat too). The inviting living/dining rooms have recently updated furniture and lots of space for everyone to relax after a day's activities. It is a great spot to snuggle up with a good book or play board games (we have lots for sharing), but for the technology addicted, there is also satellite TV (tons of channels, including sports), CD/DVD player, and free wireless internet. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a good supply of condiments and spices to get you started.

There is ample off street parking and lots of room inside to store skis, snowboards, boots and skates.

This family owned cabin gets lots of use and TLC. We go out of our way to make our few guests feel welcome and at home.

About Susan Kennedy

The owners are the family of the original builder. Our families really enjoy spending holidays at Apex and come as often as we can. Our visitors always tell us how comfortable and relaxing it is to be there and we do everything we can to make sure your visit is comfortable too.

Susan Kennedy purchased this house in 1984

Why Susan Kennedy chose Okanagan-Similkameen G

Apex has always been a family oriented, great value ski resort. It is easily accessible from Penticton, from Vancouver, and from Washington state. When our father and the family built the cabin, he chose Whitetail Road because it is the most private area that was still ski-in / ski-out. We are also located only a 5 minute drive from the Nickle Plate Nordic Centre and Nickle Plate Provincial Park, which have miles of great groomed and ungroomed cross country and backcountry skiing.

What makes this house unique

Apex has great downhill and cross-country skiing, short lift lines, and fabulous powder snow. It also has wonderful family activities, including sleigh rides, skating, movie nights, toddler care, and a terrific ski school. The whole resort area is small enough that you can still see amazing starry night skies and go for romantic, quiet walks both day and night.

Cozy cabin

  • 3 of 5

Cozy cabin. A good walk to ski out.

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying with us. We appreciate your feedback. We do like the cosyness of our cabin too. Thanks for pointing out the walk distance to the ski-in trail. We often get questions about this. So, for those who want the details: we always walk with our skiis up to the "ski in - ski out" trail and then ski down to the lift ticket office. Some folks do prefer to drive down to the parking lot and the ticket office. According to Google Earth, the walk distance from our driveway to the ski trail is about 700 feet or 0.14 miles. The driving distance from our driveway to the ski area parking lot is about 0.7 miles.

Great rental vacation for Apex or Penticton

  • 5 of 5

Great place, quiet. Clean and neat. Exceptional for families or groups of friends. We where going everyday to Penticton (30 min drive) but it was perfect location for the pricing. 100% Recommended.

Only downside is that you have to take your garbage with you when leaving. But the price deserves it :-)

Owner's Response: Thanks Inaki, We are happy to report that as of 2014, we now have a garbage dumpster for Apex residents so we no longer have to ask guests to take their garbage home. Yeah!!
