About the property

Lodge, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

About Our Cabin:

Our cabin sleeps 6-8, and by that I mean it will sleep 6 adults and 2 children comfortably. Two of the beds in the trundle bed room are pull out chair beds that accommodate children very well.

We are new owners of this Cabin, and now refer to it as Cozy Lodge. We acquired the lodge on March 1, 2015 and have provided many accessories, amenities, and upgrades to the old amenities. Have replaced towels, dishes, mugs, bedding, and many many other accessories to make this Lodge more our own and comfortable as home to our guests. Have installed dual pane storm windows to keep you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. New living room sofas. Large sofa is NOT a sleeper sofa. Newly installed living room laminate flooring. New Bosch top of the line dishwasher.

Pine walls adorn our newly remodeled cabin. Kitchen and baths feature new cabinets, granite counters and appliances, new floor coverings and paint. There are two spacious bedrooms upstairs with a shared full bath. One bedroom has a Cal King and spacious sitting area. The 2nd bedroom features a trundle bed that converts to 2 twin beds. 2 twin ottoman beds suitable for children are also in the 2nd bedroom. The 3rd bedroom is on the main level with a queen bed. The room with a queen bed does not have a TV. A 2nd full bath is on the main level directly across from the bedroom that has a queen bed.

About Mary Ann Munoz

We are a retired couple who came for a visit, and never left. We purchased our home here then decided we needed more to do in our retired life and purchased a couple more properties to rent. We own a cottage and a lodge for rentals. Both have been very successful rentals and we take pride in the upkeep.

Mary Ann Munoz purchased this lodge in 2015

Why Mary Ann Munoz chose Lake Arrowhead

We chose Lake Arrowhead because of its close proximity. It only takes 90 minutes from South Orange County and LA, making it an easy drive for a relaxing week or weekend. We feel like we are away from our normal fast-paced life up here. Both our rentals are less than a mile away from Lake Arrowhead Village which is a very popular area filled with shops, restaurants, and entertainment. There are many hiking trails within Lake Arrowhead and also around the lake and Lake Gregory. There are parks and a couple of beaches along the lake for your use with the Beach Access Card we provide for our guests. Lake Gregory Gregory is nearby and offers fishing, swimming, hiking, and water fun recreation for the kids.

What makes this lodge unique

Two one seat kayaks are available from us to rent and use on the lake. Great benefit is that each of our guests can enjoy the benefits that members of the Lake Arrowhead Lake Association Beach Club receive. With this privilege you will have access to any of the private parks, beaches and trails that are not available to the general public. We love to walk, and the area around our lodge is a wonderful place to walk or run for great exercise, whether for pleasure or training for a competitive race. The wild life is abundant and the morning view from the bedrooms looks through the trees.

Beginning April 1, 2016 we will provide our guests use of our personal kayaks to use on the private lake. There will be a small rental fee that you may choose to include for the use of kayaks during your stay. Renting the kayaks is optional. The Lake is a private lake and only allows members with a Beach Pass Card to use the lake. There are no rental facilities in Lake Arrowhead for kayaks. There are 2 single person kayaks for use. They are located at Tavern Bay dock along side our boat. You will be given a key to the gate of the dock to unlock the kayaks for your use. They are 9', 6" kayaks and restricted for use within the inside of the buoys. Kayaks 13 ft or longer only are permitted out of the buoys line. You may kayak the entire lake inside the buoy line. If you choose to rent the kayaks, I will email you a Waiver and Release of Liability for your signature before your arrival date.

Cozy cabin indeed. Host was very accommodating and organized. I would definitely recommend this place to friends. My family and I (and our doggies) look forward to staying here again.

Great stay at the Cozy Cottage

  • 4 of 5

The place had every little product and kitchen amenity you could need, perfectly labeled! Mary Ann was wonderful to work with. The only challenge we had was with some of the driving up in that area, including parking in the narrow curved driveway, but that was minor. It was a wonderful rental for two families to share! Thank you, Mary Ann!

Holiday with my family

  • 4 of 5

I thought the hosts provided better than any others I've stayed at; there were plenty of towels, the kitchen was well equipped with great appliances large and small, spices and condiments and storage goods and on and on. It was furnished with good furniture and equipment and all but the hand mixer worked well. They even had coffee, sugars and flour among the food stuffs.

The major problem was the place creaked and you could hear every movement of every one and the beds were awful. They need new mattresses or boards to make them firmer and plain sheets rather than winter ones would have been preferred. (We could have changed them if given the option.

If you stay there, be prepared to climb lots of stairs. It would be best for a family of 5. We had seven, fortunately the 8th cancelled, and it really was overcrowded. As a grandma, I didn't mind because I was with my family, but I think I was the only truly happy one. However, it was still the best equipped, cleanest and friendliest place we've been in to date.

Owner's Response: Thank you for recognizing our efforts in providing our guests with amenities above their expectations. I want our guests to feel at home during their stay. There is nothing absent from our rental that you would have in your own home for comfort. 1. Hand mixer. I was unaware that it was inoperable. Unless a guests tells me some things don't work correctly, I cannot resolve. I do not operate every small appliance after each guests leaves. 2. Creaking floors. This is the first complaint that I've had about squeaking floors. The home is 50 years old with wood flooring, and that's probably the reason. In order for me to correct that problem, I would have to completely replace flooring and I'm not about to do that to an old cabin. 3. Awful beds. Wow, that's quite a remark for a bed that didn't suit your comfort. I have had many guests comment on their reviews on how comfortable the beds are. We all know mattresses are made in different comfort levels because our desires are not all equal. Our mattress just happened not to suit you. I'm sorry you experienced discomfort. The mattresses are not old enough to require replacing at this time. Since you are the first to not find them comfortable, I will ask future guests for their opinion. Should they warrant replacing, I will act on that immediately. 4. Bed sheets. One week prior to your arrival we were experiencing freezing temperatures during the evenings. 34 degrees was the average temp at night. Consequently, I put warm sheets on the beds and provided heaters in the bedrooms. All for the comfort of my guests. Well, we didn't expect to break records in temperatures since 1950, but we did. It was the warmest temp in years at that time of the year. Very unexpected. The reason I put warm, fuzzy sheets was only for the comfort of my guests. That idea backfired on me. Forgive me. Had I not put fuzzy sheets and the temp continued at freezing, you would have wished for warmer sheets. It was a no win for me. Outdoor stairs. Yes, there are many stairs to enter the lodge. My photos posted on site depicts that, so there are no surprises. Many mountain homes will have stairs leading to entrance. That's the evil of having a mountain home. Sleeps 6. There is 1 king bed, 1 queen, and 2 twin beds. There are pull down folding chair beds that are easily converted to sleeping beds. 6 AD are able to sleep comfortably in a real bed, 2 others can improvise on the chair beds.
