Our 'sweet home Alabama' home on smith lake has 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, including 2, kitchens, 2 dining rooms, 2 living rooms, 2 laundry rooms, 1 den, and tons of closets.

The home has 4500 square feet including 2 large glassed in sun porches, 1 large porch and a large deck for outdoor cooking. There is a sitting area at waters edge for more relaxation. The boat house has 1 boat slips with hydro hoist lift (rental fee) in one slip. The two smaller slips are free of charge. It also a personal watercraft dock. The swim dock is 12x20' with a ladder. The home is located on the main lake channel. Duncan bridge marina is across the lake. Duncan bridge is just one half mile north of the home. Smith lake has 500 + miles of shoreline with 20,000+ acres of water.

The home lot is one acre with 165' of waterfront. Bass and stripe can be caught from the swim dock. The home has 1 king bed, 5 queen beds. Also has a double carport. The home is 1/2 mile off highway 257 north, on Battlecreek road.

Sweet home Alabama
Dock needs to be updated. The slips are too small for boat and the lift was not working. There is a lot of boat traffic in this area and our boat was being knocked around in the small slip.

Hidden Gem
This Gem of a property is right next to Duncan Bridge, with a boat launch. The property owner is very personable and helpful with any questions on the property. The property is a vintage property with its own ambiance, and very well stocked with kitchen utencils, games ect. We had a great stay, and would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location
We enjoyed our stay and the property in general, though there are several safety issues that should be addressed and parts of the boat dock/pier need to be replaced. The home is dated but functional. Location was perfect.

Family Get together.
Everything is as pictured and listed. The location was perfect. The place was big. The only thing is it is definitely old, but it was clean. I was also nervous due to there being a note in the bathroom encouraging caution on tissue flushing, bathing and washing cloths due to being too much on the sewage system. However, we had no issues with it while there. We really enjoyed our stay.

A great place for your family reunions!
This house is located in a great area (easy to get to, grocery store nearby, and good Verizon Wireless coverage) with easy access to the lake (VERY minimal steps). This house had the best Wi-Fi of all the houses we've rented. The house has a lot of character and plenty of bathrooms. I spoke to the owner on a couple of occasions - he was a pleasure to talk to. We will definitely plan on coming back as this was our favorite VRBO rental on Smith Lake.

I am a retired CPA, from my 42 year public accounting practice. I am 78 years old and a big crimson tide fan. I pull for war eagles if not playing the tide. My dear wife of 48 years died in 2008, so i don't need the home full time any more.

Why they chose this property

Our family has owned a home on smith lake since 1970. The lake is the cleanest and clearest anywhere. The area around Jasper was a perfect place to raise my children, who now have their own families.

What makes this property unique

Fishing, boating and water skiing when I was young. you can catch bass and stripe off the swim dock. One of my grandsons caught a 36 pound stripe last year, but not off the dock.
