Welcome to our family friendly Hilltop mountain home! We are just 2 miles outside of Rocky Mountain National Park and a mile and a half from the quaint Village of Grand Lake. Our ski-chalet style home offers the escape of a mountain get-away with the comforts of home. Enjoy the spectacular views of Shadow Mountain Lake, Grand Lake and the inspiring Indian Peaks from our large wrap-around deck or from the cozy, comfy couches in the spacious family room. Large picture windows throughout the main level allow for tremendous views no matter where you’re relaxing.

Our home is approximately 2,000 sq. feet and sits on two acres of beautiful land. We have two family rooms which make it nice for a larger family or 2 smaller ones. Cozy up to the fire, play board games, do puzzles or have a serious game of poker at the game table adjacent to the main floor family room & kitchen. There is plenty of room for everyone to do their relaxing.

Our bunkroom is fun for the kids and our two king-bed bedrooms up-stairs allow for parents privacy. The kitchen is roomy and easy to work in with everything you may need to prepare a great meal. Sit round our large dining room table or take it outside & BBQ and enjoy the beautiful mountain sunsets while dining outdoors.

Whether you are planning a good old-fashioned family vacation or a romantic mountain get-away, our home offers the perfect escape! We have a picturesque fire pit with large log seats and plenty of firewood to roast those marshmallows all night long.

Wildlife visit us often. Moose, elk, deer, foxes & a variety of birds are regular entertainment. Or, walk up the road and see if you can sneak-a-peek at the moose that linger in the willows around the pond just a short distance from the house. If you're up for more of an adventure drive into Rocky Mountain National Park where you are sure to see nature at it’s finest.

The Village of Grand Lake offers all the dining selections you could want, everything from fine dining to pizza & burgers. Or pack a picnic and enjoy the beach in town or rent kayaks and hunt out a place on Shadow Mountain Lake. There is everything from hiking, fishing, putt-putt, horseback riding, mountain biking, ATV’s, snowmobile, cross-country skiing, golfing, water-skiing, sailing, most likely anything that makes you happy on a mountain vacation. Or, how about just meandering the shops along the boardwalk and stopping for ice-cream & fudge!

Our location offers the perfect compromise to “getting away” but yet having it all! Everything you would want is available in the summer and for the winter vacation you can snowmobile right in town or get to downhill skiing at either Sol Vista in Granby or go a little further to the nationally known Winter Park & Mary Jane.

Year round, we know you will enjoy our Hilltop mountain home!

About Jennifer Banks

The Banks & Fenske families co-own. Susan & Jennifer are sisters & wanted to have a place that they could share lifetime memories with their families together. They love just hanging out & relaxing at the house, hiking, canoeing & picnicking on the shores of Shadow Mountain Lake. It wouldn't be a family gathering without a well thought out weekend of yummy food & dinners to prepare. Nothing says family like sitting around the dining room table enjoying a good meal together! Lance & David relax by chopping down trees & taking care of the land. Of course, there's always time to watch a baseball game! The kids love the laid-back feel of Grand Lake & love coming up to 'get-away' from the stresses of life. Family is number one with us & our mountain home helps us keep that a priority!

Jennifer Banks purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Jennifer Banks chose Grand Lake

We've been coming up to Grand Lake for nearly 30 years. David & his family have owned their family cabin for nearly 35. We love it that the area is so close to Rocky Mountain National Park & we love the fact that Grand Lake doesn't have a chain restaurant or coffee house. We love the beauty of of the lakes butting up to mountains & the charm of the board-walk village.

What makes this cabin unique

Fabulous Firepit with lots of log seating & beautiful views!

Private and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

This was a great weekend getaway. Beautiful view of the lake and trees. The bed was very comfortable. I liked having newer TV's for catching the games on Saturday. Close to the village.

Amazing Lake View Home

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our week's stay here. Views of the lake and mountains are amazing. We spent several nights out by the fire pit and its one of the biggest one we've seen for a rental home, with big log seating. House is well equipped with more than enough room to cook in the kitchen and a nice large dining table. Beds are very comfortable and having a master balcony that faced the beautiful mountain lake is a nice plus. The owners were awesome to work with and very accommodating to our needs.

Great Mountain Retreat In The Rockies.

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 7 and had a great stay at this property. The house is lovely and it is very close to Rocky Mountain National Park. The beds were comfy and the views from the house are absolutely breathtaking. We saw a bull moose and 2 cows, and several mule deer roaming the area around the house and surrounding properties. We also drove around the surrounding neighborhood and saw moose and mule deer. The Colorado River runs through the Kewaunee Valley in the back of the neighborhood as well. We enjoyed hanging around the house and driving through the neighborhood seeing wildlife and incredible views. The RMNP is very close and we were able to take in the great scenery there as well and see moose, elk, and mule deer.

If you are looking for a great property to stay at for comfort, breathtaking views, and abundant wildlife, then this is the place. The owners were great to deal with and have a fabulous place to stay in for all that the area offers. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Beautiful House but take your garbage with you!

  • 3 of 5

I had a wonderful stay at this Hilltop house. It was easy to find and the location is beautiful. The house was equipped with almost everything that I needed, except charcoal and lighter fluid for the grill. Which was just a quick trip to the store. My dogs loved the open space and it was an added bonus to have dog beds and bowls already in the house. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed the tranquility. The one downside of this house, that I wish would of been mentioned in the description, was that the renter has to remove all garbage from the house. It would be a little more understandable if the renter just had to take the garbage to a dumpster by the house, instead of hauling it into town and paying to dispose of it. I feel like this should have been included in the cleaning fee. But overall it was a nice play to stay at.

Owner's Response: Hi Heather, We are so glad you enjoyed our property, the views and our well stocked kitchen. The near by trail system/open space, that turns into cross country ski trails in the winter, is also one of our favorite things about the location of our cabin. I'm sorry about your frustration with the trash disposal but it should not have cost you anything. We would love to have trash services, at the house, but the local company only offers a Tuesday trash day. There is no way to allow the trash to stay on property without having mice & wild animal issues. I hope this makes it a little more understandable for you? We try to make it as easy as possible by providing 2 Grand County approved trash disposal bags. If those were not left for you, by our cleaning service, I apologize and would be more than happy to refund you. I will email you to resolve this, so you feel 100% satisfied with your stay! Thank you again for choosing our property and allowing us to accommodate you for your vacation!

Roomy and comfortable with amazing deck and views!

  • 5 of 5

We were 4 women enjoying a long weekend getaway. The house was more than we could have hoped for. It was very clean, the kitchen was well equipped, beds were comfortable, the deck and views were awesome! We saw deer or elk in the yard on two days of our stay as well as many hummingbirds. Just loved it!
