About The Owner

I own a business in Flagstaff. While my husband works in Montana, I often commute from Bozeman to Flagstaff.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2010

Why The Owner chose Fort Valley Estates

After living in Flagstaff for many years my husband was transferred to Bozeman, Mt. We are back in Flagstaff frequently and had been looking for a second home for several years. We wanted one that would still be inside the city but offer a peaceful forested environment. Of course, we wanted to be close to the things that we love about Flagstaff; hiking, biking, skiing and downtown! I knew that I had to find something that appealed to my kids, too. The day cabin and adjacent biking trails cover their needs.

What makes this cabin unique

Our property is often frequented by elk and other wildlife. It is in a neighborhood, surrounded by forest on two sides and has trails adjacent to the property. There is a meadow in the nearby (200 yds) forest that is excellent for viewing wildlife.

Wonderful cabin

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic stay. Cabin is so charming- another reviewer described it best when they said it's truly a beloved family cabin, not a investment property vacation rental. It has so many warm touches and plenty of everything - extra towels, blankets, kitchen tools and dishes, odds and ends like tape and pens and lighters - even a ping pong table in the garage. The sunroom/mud room was so convenient because we were there during a big snow. Our dogs and adult children loved exploring the huge property. It’s not completely fenced in, but there is fencing that runs around about half of the property. The only minor thing we noticed was that the bathtub/shower did not drain well, but I notified the owner/manager of this, so hopefully it will be resolved. Water pressure and temperature was great. Like others said, don’t attempt to stay here without a 4x4 vehicle in the winter, but with that you will be fine to get in and out of the driveway and road. Would definitely love to stay here again!

Log cabin with a view!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed in this property while visiting relatives in the area over the holidays. The house was perfect - clean, well-kept and thoughtfully decorated with comfortable beds. You can tell this place is not only a rental property but a beloved family cabin. If you go when snow is expected make sure to have an all wheel drive car. It is really down a beautiful dirt road in the middle of the forest : ) I have stayed in many VBRO rentals all over the world and this is a gem.

Privacy in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We had a marvelous time at the cabin in the woods! The home was cozy and well stocked. The linens and beds were very comfy and clean. We awoke to a light dusting of snow and a gorgeous view of the snow covered mountain. It was a great location for skiing/snowboarding although there wasn't much snow. It was a really nice escape from the city lights and sounds. So quiet and dark at night...we just loved it and the garage was a big bonus.

Amazing Location!

  • 5 of 5

One thing that I really disliked about using this site, was the sheer number of people calling a brand new condo on the golf course a "cabin". In my book a cabin requires at least a few acres surrounding wilderness, and a fair distance from any neighbors.

This IS a CABIN in the woods, and is absolutely fantastic. It's not as plush as some of the rentals we've been in, but you certainly cannot find a better location. The cabin is cozy, and comfortably fit our family of 5. There was even plenty of room for the grandparents to spend a couple of nights with us.

The property has so much room for the kids and dogs to play. You can step over a fence onto national forrest. There is a day cabin for the kids to have their own space. Snowball fights, snowmen, sledding....we had it all!

There was tons of snow, yet we had no problem accessing the property. It is completely secluded, but less than 15 minutes from everything. It's only about 5 miles out of town, still totally surrounded by miles of national forest. The Snow Bowl traffic can be a little heavy, if you are heading in to town when the lifts shut down. I think that's probably the case with all of the homes along Highway 180.

What's more is that Nicole was awesome to work with. She was very responsive, addressed any concerns immediately and is just genuinely a very pleasant person.

I loved it, my wife loved it, my kids loved it and even our dogs loved it. We didn't even want to come! Thanks to Nicole and Beth for our best Winter Vacation yet!
