Overview

About the property

Lodge, 4 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

The Summit is located in the heart of the Aska Adventure Area and stands at the top of Bill's Ridge at an elevation of 2,365 ft., one of the highest elevations in Fannin County. It's easy to find though, as paved roads lead you all the way to the base of the mountain and continue about half of the way up the mountain. A few short minutes later, the road to the top of the mountain literally ends at this very private and luxurious cabin. To add to the privacy, this mountain community is accessed by a coded gate entry and the back of the cabin and property actually adjoins the national forest. It's not hard to see why deer frequently meander through the property and are easily spotted from the deck around sunrise and sunset.

The cabin itself is constructed of hand hewn pine but the windows of this structure dominate as it boasts an enormous two story front gable and two gables on either side giving the living area and kitchen an abundance of light and awe inspiring views of the natural setting outside. A ten foot wrap around covered deck as well as an uncovered patio area allows for great enjoyment of the surroundings. Two fire places, one located on the outside deck, add to the over all warmth and charm. In addition, the deck includes two tables that both seat four comfortably for al fresco dining making it convenient to enjoy your favorite meal while enjoying the beautiful sunset. Breathtaking views as the sun sets over the mountains in the distance add to a wonderful dining experience. The cabin also boasts exquisitely hand carved teak furniture imported from Indonesia (including all of the bedroom furniture) and coupled with the hand scraped hard wood floors add to the rich feel and atmosphere of refined rustic flair. The cabin has four bedrooms which all include king beds and television in each bedroom. Also, each bedroom has it's own private bathroom with shower and/or tub which allows maximum privacy for all guests. The master bedroom has a separate shower and jetted Jacuzzi tub as well as it's own private and very spacious West facing veranda. In addition, each bathroom has been carefully styled with it's own blend of natural travertine stone which adds to the rustic feel of the cabin. The recreation room downstairs includes plush carpeting, thirteen foot ceilings, enormous transom windows, a championship billiard table, television as well as a full wet bar with refrigerator and dishwasher. A six person fully jetted hot tub is located off of the recreation room outside and has gorgeous views of the surroundings. A 40' Mitsubishi LCD flat screen with center voice speaker in the great room allows you to enjoy your favorite movies and sports while on your vacation. Also, the entire cabin is complimented by an iPod friendly audio system that is wired throughout the house and includes robust speakers in the main living area, outside decks and dining area, hot tub location and recreation room, each zone controlled by individual speaker volume controls.

Most importantly, the location of The Summit is unsurpassed for all of your vacation needs. It can be reached by a short drive from the town of Blue Ridge down Aska Rd which is one of the most beautiful drives in the Blue Ridge area, or by Rock Creek and Stanley Creek Rd. which winds through a canopy of forest as it makes it's way through the Rich Mountain Wildlife Preserve. Excellent hiking and trail heads are 3 miles in either direction down Aska or Stanley Creek Rd., with a beautiful waterfall easily accessible from the Stanley Creek Rd. trail head. The entrance to the mountain where The Summit is located is within walking distance of the Toccoa River where an abundance of trout fishing and rafting are available. It's location is also less than 1/4 mile to the Toccoa Riverside restaurant which sits along side the river with great views of the rushing waters below, and specializes in freshly caught trout. Another 1/4 mile down from the restaurant is the Toccoa Wilderness Outpost which offers rafting gear, grocery supplies, as well as a full breakfast menu each morning and home made barbecue for lunch. Just on the other side of the river is beautiful Lake Blue Ridge. The lake can be accessed by boat launch 5 1/2 miles down Aska Rd or by driving another few miles to the marina. Pontoon boats and jet ski rentals are available by the day or half day. In addition, less than an hour away, the Ocoee River with class 3, 4, & 5 rapids offers some of the best adventure rafting and kayaking in the region. If adventure isn't on the agenda for the day, the charming town of Blue Ridge offers a beautiful setting to take in it's quaint shops and cafes and it is also the departure location for the famous Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. This cabin has a unique blend of refinement and unquestionable rustic charm which is complimented by it's one of a kind settings. It is our hope that this combination allows you to better feel the distinctive beauty as well as the rugged wilderness that are both hallmarks of the North Georgia Mountains and serve as the perfect site for this unparalleled get away that we call The Summit.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Such a great cabin with so many more amenities than other cabins we have stayed at. We made every meal here (and these girls can cook!) and totally enjoyed simply talking by the fire. We hope to make this our annual meeting spot. Thank you so much for all the work you have put into this cabin to make it such an amazing visit! We'll call soon to book for next year!

My friends and I have began a tradition of taking a couple's cabin trip once a year and this cabin was perfect for us! The four king suites was the perfect layout for our weekend. We had a great time!!!! My only bit of advice for people interested in this cabin would be to be sure to drive a 4 wheel drive vehicle with great tires. The road to the cabin is steep and the last turn prior to reaching the drive way is quite narrow.

Owner's Response: Thank you Tamara! We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and we appreciate your kind words. I would clarify though that a 4 wheel drive vehicle is not required to make it up to the cabin. We have been renting the cabin for almost 10 years now and all sorts of vehicles have been able to make it up the mountain without any issues. I in fact drove a large moving truck all the way up to the cabin and our movers that moved the bulk of our furniture had an even larger moving truck (and that was prior to my paving the last switchback that leads to our parking area). When driving on this or any mountain road we do recommend to take the switchbacks wide to keep from going straight up or straight down the mountain which will also allow you to avoid the spinning of tires. Thank you once again for taking the time to submit your review Tamara and we hope that you are able to make it back again someday!

Awesome property and excellent overall experience!

Rented for a short family reunion. Wanted four bedrooms and four baths for 4 couples - The Summit was perfect, fit the family well and was exactly as described in the on-line write up. We needed to switch dates from our originally planned outing and the owners (Debbie and Brian) were extremely accommodating. The Summit is a beautiful home, well maintained and clean, had wonderful amenities and easily accommodated our group. The Summit had everything we needed for a long weekend - we kept the fire place going the entire weekend, grilled out for three meals and had both, ping pong and pool competitions. While the hot tub looked inviting, we did not use it during our stay. The views are spectacular and downtown Blue Ridge is a short drive away and it's a fun city to spend time in. Hosts provided a nice write-up of things to do nearby that can easily fill time. If you are looking to getaway to the North Georgia mountains, I highly recommend The Summit! Debbie and Brian were great hosts and we'll definitely be going back!

There are some great things about this cabin and some things you should know 🙂

  • 3 of 5

We just returned from an annual family trip to Blue Ridge. We stay in different cabins because I haven’t found the perfect one yet. When I read the reviews on this cabin I thought maybe I had found it...and then decided maybe my expectations were too high. Let me first say that just because a cabin is big doesn’t mean it’s “luxury.” The cabin was located in a good area and the roads weren’t too bad. We took a Hyundai Elantra and had no problem. For the most part the cabin was clean, but I think the maid is a smoker and takes the sheets home to wash them because everyone of us (all 4 beds) had sheets that smelled of cigarette smoke 😝. I will say that we all thought the beds were comfortable. Another thing I noticed was there is only one air/heating unit and therefore only one thermostat. The main level was comfortable but the upstairs was hot and the downstairs very cold (I realize that’s a design flaw...but really, who does that on huge house?). The kitchen was well stocked. We had a nice time because we enjoyed being together. I’m still searching for the perfect 4 bedroom cabin. Oh, and you have to really slam the front door to get it to lock 🙂. So, there it is the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your response. To be clear though, our maid never takes the linens home to wash them. She lives close to 30 minutes away and that would mean a 1 hour round trip to do so. We don't allow smoking at the cabin and have never heard of any complaints of this nature in 10 years of renting this cabin. We in fact queried the renters both before and after you just to be certain and they confirmed that there was no smell of smoke anywhere in the cabin. Also, you called and emailed several times prior to your rental asking about all kinds of things. I was extremely patient and courteous with you and answered all of your questions. You then called and emailed several times while you were at the cabin. You called on a Friday night to tell me that you were absolutely certain that one of our ceiling fans/lights was broken and that you had tried everything including swapping batteries in the remote control. You were adamant that the ceiling fan/light was broken. You went on and on about how multiple people in your cabin had looked at every possibility with the lights and that I needed to get it fixed or replaced, but I finally convinced your husband to allow me to trouble shoot with him. The first step of that trouble shooting if you recall included flipping the light switch. Your husband's reaction, "well I'll be, the lights just came on" said it all. I then had him flip the other switch and of course, the fan began to turn. On that same call you complained about not having enough toilet paper. You then accused my maid of not putting enough toilet paper in the bathrooms. I asked her later and she confirmed that one roll was left on the toilet paper holder and one additional roll was left in each bathroom which is standard operating procedure. You actually requested that I have her drive a half hour each way to deliver toilet paper. When I asked your husband if you were actually short toilet paper and needed "a delivery". He waited for you to walk away and said (under his breath), "we'll be fine, don't worry about us". As to your disparaging remarks about the cabin overall, I just have to say, the cabin is beautiful, just look at all of the other reviews but I would imagine that it's very difficult to see things as they are while being so demanding and complaining about everything.

Was over all very pleased with the Cabin and all that it offered.

Beautifully crafted Mountain cabin in Blue Ridge Mountains. Surrounded by woods with beautiful deck and outside fireplace for relaxing evening dinners if you do not want to dine in ample size kitchen. The property is isolated enough where you have privacy, but not a far drive from quaint downtown. This was an ideal location for us as it was near by to the many Hiking trails we wanted to enjoy in a long weekend. This luxury cabin offered more amenities than we needed but we chose to stay here because of location and look of cabin. We would stay here again.

beautiful, secluded mountain cabin with a wrap around porch & view from the outdoor hot tub!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the summit for a long weekend, family vacation and everyone loved it! The beautiful home gave an ideal cabin feel without being tacky. The rooms were nice and spacious , the bathrooms were clean with updated fixtures and the view was beautiful! My nephew loved going out on the wrap around porch, we had breakfast together every morning in the kitchen, hot tub in the evenings and the beds were comfortable. The 8 of us (7 adults and a five year old) were more than comfortable and everyone loved the arrangements. The power and water was out due to a storm the previous day but maintenance handled the situation is a very expedited fashion! Overall we had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay at this property again. Our activities in blue ridge included white water rafting, pontooning, electric bikes, fun was had by all!
