About this property

3-Bedroom, 3-Level Cabin-Spectacular Mountain and Lake Views!

Our mountain cabin is the perfect getaway for couples and families. Lovingly cared for and tastefully decorated, our 3-level, 1400 sq. foot cabin has an open floor plan with floor-to-ceiling windows on the main floor and spectacular views of Colorado's highest peaks and beautiful Twin Lakes (the largest glacial lakes in the State). Views are as good from INSIDE the cabin as they are OUTSIDE the cabin!

The main floor has all hardwood floors with an open, fully furnished kitchen and new appliances; large dining table for cozy family meals with a view; living area with a comfy couch, TV, gas stove, and two leather recliners; French doors opening out to the deck; a newly remodeled, spacious bath with tub, shower, and plenty of storage; and a mud room for storing skis, backpacks, and outdoor equipment.

The lower level has stone tile floors with two large bedrooms--one with a queen bed and one with a full bed; a quiet sitting area with TV, French doors opening out to an outdoor patio, and a half-bath/laundry room with washer and dryer. The upper level has hardwood floors, a master bedroom with a queen bed that has views of Mount Elbert (from bed!)and a separate sitting area. The sitting area can be closed off and has a futon for extra sleeping space.

Our cabin is on a half-acre lot with trees, a small fenced yard off of the downstairs patio (perfect for small to medium dogs, with prior approval). Aspen is a scenic 43-mile drive over 12,095-foot Independence Pass, Colorado’s highest paved pass, where you'll find fabulous summer activities, like the Aspen Summer Music Festival and great bars and restaurants. Historic Leadville is 19 miles away with affordable dining, shops, and museums. The tiny town of Twin Lakes, 2 miles west, has a restaurant and cafe. Fabulous hiking, mountain climbing, mountain biking, and cross country skiing are available in all directions. Boating activities on Twin Lakes and fly-fishing on the Arkansas River are only minutes away. Lively Buena Vista with restaurants and brew pubs is only 23 miles away.

Excellent!!
We loved our stay!! The cabin location is ideal to access all that is hiking and the feel of mountain living yet just 20 minutes outside of Leadville. The cabin was very clean and well-stocked with all special necessities (cleaning supplies, aluminum foil, plastic bags, paper towels, soap, shampoo, lotion, etc.) The linens and beds were better than my own house. Having a plate of chocolate chip cookies waiting for us in the refrigerator was a very classy touch. Without hesitation we would return to the cabin.

Fall weekend getaway
My husband and I stayed with our 9 months old and dog. We enjoyed a cozy weekend at the cabin. Great views of the surrounding mountains and a bit of the lake. The kitchen was very well stocked with basic essentials, we were saved by the large spice collections as we forgot to pack a few we needed. Great little yard for the dog. Stairs are open to the floor so we had to keep a close eye on our son as he crawled around, but it was a great place to spend some time together for a weekend getaway!

4th time to stay
I guess you could say we are "regulars" since this was our 4th summer to stay in the Treehouse Cabin. We love it here and the cabin and the area is just as wonderful now as before. This time we brought our recently adopted Husky, Isabella. She loved hanging around on the deck. Of course she also loved the cooler weather and turned out to be quite the "mountain dog", loving the local trails, and especially enjoying a dip in the cool water of Mt Elbert Forebay. We're looking forward to another stay next summer.

We are empty-nesters with two grown children. We have finally realized our dream of owning the perfect cabin nestled in Colorado's most beautiful high-country. Our dog, Sienna, is our constant hiking and cross-country skiing companion. We love the Twin Lakes area year round - spectacular above-timberline hiking in the summer and champagne powder for skiing in the winter! Lake County has more cross-country ski trails than any other county in Colorado, and perfect conditions all winter! We can't stay inside, because there is too much to do outdoors!

Why they chose this property

We have stayed in vacation rentals all over Colorado and picked Twin Lakes because of its spectacular views and the availability of every type of winter and summer sport. We take advantage of music, art, and fine dining in Vail and Aspen and enjoy the historic charm of Leadville. Our cabin is a two-hour drive from Denver, which allows us to use our cabin frequently on weekends. The cabin feels cozy for just the two of us, but has ample space for our family gatherings. We aren't in a city--we are in the MOUNTAINS, and our cabin feels like a real getaway, far from the crowds, traffic, and chain stores/restaurants that have recently infiltrated other mountain communities.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy the best hiking and cross-country skiing Colorado has to offer! We are 45 minutes from Copper Mountain, where we enjoy down-hill skiing in the winter without any traffic. We visit Mount Princeton Hot Springs with its outdoor pools and spa services year-round. We visit Aspen for high-end shopping, fabulous music, gourmet restaurants, and people-watching.
