Overview

About the property

Farmhouse, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Come stay in our newly renovated 1890's train station in the heart of the bluegrass.

We are on a working thoroughbred horse farm right off Paris Pike, one of the most scenic areas in all of Central Kentucky. Drive by Gainsway and Elemendorf farms on the way to Claiborne farm. 15 minutes to the Kentucky Horse Park, Fasig Tipton, close to Keeneland and the Lexington area attractions.

Hutchison Station was part of the L&N railroad system between 1890-1950, it still has the original hardwood floors, 12' ceilings and much of the original molding. In its heyday it included a post office, livestock loading platform, general store and blacksmith's shop. You can read more about the station house in 'Ghost Railroads of Kentucky'. Many of the original families still live in the area.

Area activities include a 9 hole golf course within walking distance, and a short drive to many 18 hole courses, horse farm tours, historical sites including Shakertown, Mary Todd Lincoln House, Henry Clay Estate, Civil War battlefields and much more.

We have easy access to I75 & I64 and are located 1/2 way between Lexington and Paris.

Best trip ever!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough about this wonderful property! The converted train station is just beautiful, the unit we stayed in was very spacious and clean and the best part was the front window view of the pasture with all of the horses. We really enjoyed talking with Lisa as she shared with us the day to day care of the horses and we even got to be in the barn with the horses and give them carrots. Also close to the property is The Kentucky Horse Park (about 20 minutes), several Bourbon Distilleries which we went to Buffalo Trace (about 30 minutes away) and we visited a few antique shops in downtown Lexington (about 20 minutes away). We will definitely plan another trip in the future. Thank you so much Lisa for the most memorable trip ever. We can’t wait to come back.

Relaxation with a view

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in the renovated train station. It is easily found but feels tucked away. We loved sitting in the lawn chairs and watching the horses with their babies grazing in the pasture. The apartment is clean and comfortable and the owners are friendly and helpful. We will definitely come again!

I love this place! Truly a gem!

  • 5 of 5

This renovated station house is the perfect balance of retained character, and updated amenities. Everything is very clean. There were homemade cookies on the counter and fresh lilacs in the vase when we arrived.

There were 5-6 mares with foals in the pasture right along the drive when we were there, absolutely stunning! Located an easy drive into Lexington and just off the path of the historic horse farm driving tour. We also visited Keeneland and Woodford Reserve, all worth a stop. We hope to be back to visit and would definitely choose this place again. There were just 2 of us, but it’s plenty spacious for 4.
