About the property

Fabulous views! Within 10 miles of Gooseberry, Tettegouche and Split Rock parks

The top 10 reasons to choose our home for your trip to the north shore of Lake Superior

10. 4 minutes to Split Rock Lighthouse, 10 to Gooseberry Falls & Tettegouche

9. Everyone loves it - check out our reviews!

8. Walk to local restaurants or grill lakeside on the deck!

7. Sunrises over the lake with coffee on the deck

6. Oh so comfortable beds and pillows, play hard, sleep well!

5. Whirlpool for 2 (most Windsong units only have a tub for 1)

4. End unit with LOTS of windows, more light, views and cool lake breezes

3. Front door parking, no parking lot trudge with suitcases

2. Small, quiet town home community, not a busy, noisy resort

1. None of our neighbors rent their homes, it's so quiet and private

This is our vacation home, not a corporate rental, and when we're not there, it is our pleasure to share it with fellow north shore lovers. Every piece of furniture and art was hand selected to provide a beautiful and oh so comfortable home to return to after a hard day at play on the north shore. A dramatic two story wall of windows facing the lake lets you enjoy the sights and sounds of this incredible body of water, it's mesmerizing. Our home is perfect for one or two couples, there are two bedrooms, one on each floor, each with a connected bath for privacy. Our home's amazing view and ideal location attracts lots of inquiries from travelers with a 5th or 6th person, rather than turn them down, we added twin air mattresses so we can accommodate six guests maximum.

Windsong is a small lakeside town home community, not a resort. Enjoy the amenities of an upscale resort without the noise and crowds. Indoor Heated pool, (open between Memorial Day weekend and New Year's Day), a year around sauna and a fire pit are across the driveway.

The Gitchi-Gami State Trail is at the top of Windsong Drive, walk or ride bikes to Split Rock Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls. Palisade Head and Tettegouche State Park are a few miles up 61. A spur trail from Cove Point offers access to the Superior Hiking Trail, hike for miles through forests, along ridges, rivers, waterfalls and lakes. What an amazing place in every season, come explore by day and relax in style and comfort at night.

Winter guests enjoy miles and miles of nearby cross country and snowmobile trails. The midwest's best downhill skiing is just 40 minutes away at Lutsen. Gooseberry Falls park and Split Rock both have beautiful, groomed cross country ski trails, we use them to snowshoe too. There's nothing like spending time on foot, skis or snowshoes in the woods in winter. It's good for your body, mind and soul.

Walk to nearby restaurants: Northern Lights, Lemon Wolf Cafe, Cove Point Lodge, Camp 61 and Crossings Bar & Grille and The Big Dipper Ice cream shop which are open seasonally. You'll love how conveniently located our home is, come play!

About Jo Ebbert

We are from the Twin Cities so Minnesota is home but there's NO place on earth like the north shore. We've been coming here for over 30 years, we ever chose to get married on the top of Moose Mountain in Lutsen. Of course, we love the North Shore any time of year but much to our surprise, Winter is our favorite! We are snowshoers and we find that we are often the only ones on the trails, we LOVE the solitude! We snowshoe the same Superior Hiking Trails that we hike in other seasons and we marvel at how the view changes when the foliage is gone. It's incredibly beautiful and peaceful, we hope you'll try it on one of your visits. You can rent snowshoes next door at Cove Point Lodge, at Split Rock State Park or Beaver Bay Sports if you don't have your own.

Jo Ebbert purchased this townhome in 2005

Why Jo Ebbert chose Beaver Bay

Beaver Bay is easy to get to from the Twin Cities and it's a beautiful drive. Of course the view of Lake Superior was a huge draw for us, it's hard to believe it's a lake! Listening to the waves hit the rocks, watching the sun come up over the lake, stargazing over a pitch black lake, it's a soul refreshing place.

What makes this townhome unique

Our home is such a wonderful retreat, when we step inside, the weight of the world lifts off of our shoulders. We really enjoy the proximity to so many incredible State Parks. Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock and Tettegouche are all within 10 miles. The Superior Hiking Trail and state park trails take you through forests, along rivers, past waterfalls, to inland lakes and along Lake Superior. If you prefer a stroll or bike ride to a hike, you can walk or bike ride for miles along the shore on the Gitchi-Gami State Trail at the top of Windsong Drive. Golfers, enjoy Lutsen's Superior National Golf course 27 holes of spectacular golf just 40 minutes away. The best downhill sking and snowboarding in the Midwest is also 40 minutes away at Lutsen Mountains. We never get tired of this place and start counting the days until we can return between guests.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Jo and Bob, Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. We have had a very nice two days here - using your home as our "base camp" while we enjoyed the North Shore's attractions. My family from Australia have been here with us and were "wowed" by the beauty of the area, and by your lovely accommodations! We have been extremely lucky with weather - the lake has been so calm almost glass like, which we have never seen before. Blue skies too...just perfect! Thank you again.

Stunning well-appointed townhome with amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this beautiful townhome on the waters edge of Lake Superior. The home was very comfortable and the kitchen contained everything we needed to make wonderful meals. The master bedroom had stunning views and the beds were extremely comfortable. We were traveling with another couple who had stayed in the cottages nearer to Cove Point Lodge and indicated that these accommodations were amazing in comparison and had more comfortable common spaces. It was great to walk to the lodge for dinner and to stroll along the waters edge. Absolutely would return.

Owner's Response: We are so happy to hear you and your friends enjoyed your stay and found our home so comfortable, that was our goal when we chose the furnishings and equipped the kitchen. Your your private message after your stay telling us our home was one of the best VRBO's you have stayed at was also wonderful to hear, thank you for telling us that. We hope you can return, it's an amazing place no matter what season it is. All the best to you.

A lovely, comfortable well appointed condo with beautiful views of the Lake.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The condo was as advertised. Quality furnishings with personal touches, well equipped kitchen that was great for cooking, comfortable beds, and nice property with lovely view of the lake. Jo quickly resolved a problem with the checkin code when we arrived.

I would highly recommend this condo!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for choosing our home for your trip to the north shore and for taking the time to write a review, we sincerely appreciate that. It's great to know you enjoyed the personal touches, a lot of thought went in to every thing we chose, it's not a "rental" it's our home and we wanted it to be comfortable and inviting. We cook all of meals when we're there, can't beat the private lake view table, so we made sure the kitchen was highly functional. People ask us where were bought the beds so the thought we bought into those purchases does not go unnoticed. We're so happy you enjoyed your stay, please come again.

Beautiful and well-appointed

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed in VRBOs all over the world and have never stayed at one that's actually like staying at a friends' house. The kitchen especially is amazing-- really nice plates and bowls, great knives, all the cooking utensils you'd want to make nice meals, drip and Keurig coffee makers, items that are like what you'd have in your own house. Plenty of towels, and helpful instructions posted all over made it really easy for my family of 6. The location is perfect to hike the Split Rock and Gooseberry Falls area. In terms of value, it is quite expensive for only two bedrooms (it would be perfect to split with another couple, but we brought our family and it did feel like quite a lot to spend per night) but it is luxurious. Jo is a Realtor so is really friendly, quick (immediate) to answer calls, and really helpful.

Owner's Response: Wow, thank you so much for your glowing review Ann. It's funny that you would say you felt like you were staying at a friend's home, when guests ask me what they need to bring, I say it's like going to a friend's home to stay but they're not home, just bring your clothes, food and personal care items, everything else is there. I have not traveled extensively, this is my favorite place to go, but I've heard from others that often homes don't have paper towels, tissues, soap or even enough dishes and pans, that's shocking to me. We appreciate being comfortable so we spent a lot of time choosing high end furnishings, some of which we had custom made to make sure it was the right scale and style, even the deck furniture is extraordinary because we love sitting by the lake and watching the waves and we sit out there for hours. We also added out of the ordinary things like the Bose Wave sound system, converted the builder installed wood burning fireplace to remote controlled gas, pulled out the single person builder installed whirlpool and replaced it with a 2 person Pearl tub. We cook all of our meals when we are there so we wanted it to function like our kitchen at home, including the dual coffee makers, we really enjoy coffee on the deck at sunrise. We're so happy to hear you and your family noticed our effort in making it luxurious. It is ideal for 1 or 2 couples that is for sure but we kept getting people asking us to bring 5 or 6 so we made accommodations to allow that. We know it's not a budget rental unit, it is a luxury home and I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it.

We enjoyed our stay at Windsong over New Years. The home was tastefully furnished, clean, and comfortable. The owners had great communication in regard to driving directions, access, and home operation.
