This home is so close to the water of Lake Wawasee, that when you are sitting inside the living room and dining at the table, you will feel as if you are on the water. There are plenty of large windows in this home to give you the full appreciation of being this close.

This stone and siding home built in the 1930's will give you a nostalgic feel, as if you're visiting grandmother’s lakefront home. It has the best of both old and new as there is central air, a security system, and new constant pressure well (so you have plenty of water for all the showers to be used simultaneously).

This home has a lake cottage aura about it, as it has a nautical decor. Four of the bedrooms have antique furnishings that further give this home a feeling of nostalgia. There is also a child or teen room with two bunk beds. Everything is furnished in this home -- towels, washcloths, sheets and a completely ready-to-go kitchen, including a microwave, coffee-machine, toaster, pots and pans, silverware, and dishes. Grill outside your kitchen door in a picket-fenced flowered garden with a beautiful view of the lake.

Walk out the front door, take a few steps and you are on the new 100 foot long pier complete with a Tiki Bar!
Optional if available: Bennington Tri-Tune Boat (350HP, inboard) available for your use (a separate rental usage). Jet Skis and Kayaks are also available for rental.

Best Family Vacation Ever
It was our first time to use VRBO and we were very wary of what we would get. We took a chance and rented this lake house for 2 weeks. We were pleasantly surprised when we got there. The home was cozy and warm and had great energy. We were a little disappointed that there wasn't a bedroom downstairs but that only lasted a second. The view from the Master bedroom was amazing and it was wonderful waking up and being able to appreciate the nature outside first thing in the morning. The dock was great and access to the lake was in the backyard. The owner was very conscientious and responded quickly to an issue we had with the water heater. We rented a couple of paddleboards and one of their jetskis. Fun was had by all including our parents and grandchild!

Wonderful Family Memories
We have been coming to Wawasee and staying in this charming cottage for the last 5 years. We have a large family and the 5 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths comfortably fit our needs. Most of our time is spent on the wonderful dock enjoying the amazing views and the fabulous lake. It is the only property on the lake that gives you an option to rent their awesome Bennington tritoon, two jet skis and paddle boards. That's a huge bonus! Ruth is a very gracious host and easy to work with. If we ever had any issues they were handled immediately. Many wonderful family memories have been made at this charming cottage on Hatchery Road. We look forward to returning again and again.

Making Memories!
We have come to this lake house every year for the past 8 years. I am a small business owner who keeps busy all the time. We started this tradition to get away from all the craziness of life and spend time with our family. My wife and I, our 4 kids (and their spouses) and our grandchildren look forward to coming each year. It's become a home away from home. It's such a relaxing, fun environment. We've tubed, boated, kayaked, paddle boarded, fished and swam and have enjoyed every minute. The house is always clean and inviting when we arrive. It is very close to Oakwood Inn, so we have taken the boat and eaten outside at their restaurant. It is not far from Shipshewana. We've driven there to enjoy a dinner at the Blue Gate Restaurant. There are a couple delicious ice cream shops within minutes of the house that we made several trips to as well. We are doing more than just coming to boat and swim...we are making memories with our kids and grand kids that will last a lifetime. Thank you!!!

AWESOME Getaway for the extended family!
We love this lake house!!! This was our second summer staying there. It has a ton of room, the lake is literally steps from the back door. We enjoyed a multi-generational vacation, with our small kids through the grandparents. The neighbors have a beach that they welcomed us to use, and we really enjoyed the boat. It was nice having everything with such easy access for our disabled grandparents to our two year old. Also, Ruth is incredibly responsive and house was in impeccable shape!

This is our family vacation home and have rented a few weeks each summer for the past decade. We decided not to rent anymore for the past few years (hence, the lack of reviews during those years) so that our family could have every week of the summer to play and enjoy the lake house. We decided that this summer we would open up a few weeks for others to enjoy as well. We have kayaks and paddle boards available to rent. We have rented our Bennington boat and jet skis in the previous years, but we are postponing that at this time.

Why they chose this property

This home has unique qualities. It's a classic Wawasee lake house located right on the lake with gorgeous views. There is a sidewalk (the only one on the lake) that allows for evening and morning strolls with the little ones. There's a sandy bottom and shallow area that's perfect for the children to swim. The tiki bar is a lot of fun to entertain with, and there is substantial area on the dock and seawall to host your family and friends.

What makes this property unique

Lake frontage at the south end of the lake with over 1 mile of views.

House has nostalgic feel to it with modern conveniences. Beautifully decorated with nautical decor and antique furnishings.

Lots of room for guests and family - 5 bedrooms! 3.5 bathrooms!
