SKI Season Special: Why not consider staying in Old Quebec City during your upcoming ski trip? We are located inbetween the Mont Ste-Anne, Le Massif and Stoneham ski mountains. This would be the perfect base for those looking at a week holiday, but maybe not wanting to ski everyday. On your off day 400 years of history awaits you as you meander through the cobble stone streets of Place Royal.

SPECIAL NOTE: This Place Royal condo has just received a FOUR Star rating from Tourism Quebec. This is the highest rating for any residencial tourist accomodations in the Old City. Renting with us assures that you are renting with an accredited owner with a permit from the City of Quebec and a 4-Star rating from Tourism Quebec! You want rental security? Your first question for any property owner should be, 'Are you an accredited rental home with the City of Quebec?'

If the answer is no, buyer beware!

This condo is located in the heart of Place Royal. It is from this location that Champlain constructed the first habitation, a farm and a shed. The location was named after Louis XIV and is one of the last remaining witnesses of 17th & 18th century buildings in North America.

It is a beautiful 2400 square foot condo on one level. High ceilings, hardwood floors and exposed ceiling beams accent this historically renovated condo.

All that you will require to spend a great time in Quebec can be found in the condo

Two full bedrooms

A third bed, a sofa bed

Two full bathrooms

Full kitchen with cooking utensils

Washer and Dryer

View of the St. Lawrence River from the 8 foot high windows looking south-eastward

This Historic Greystone sits along the St. Lawrence river and is walking distance to all within the old city. This beautiful building welcomes visitors with it's granite tiling throughout the entry and stairs leading up to the unit. Don't feel like walking up a flight of problem the building has an elevator for the use of our guests. Entering the condo you are met by a spacious hallway with the original red brick wall. Advancing a few steps and turning the corner is when the 'wow' factor hits our guests. You are see the vast open space of the condo beautifully decorated and furnished with a back drop of 11 foot high windows looking out at the St. Lawrence River The word 'Quebec' comes from the first nations word meaning, 'where the rive narrows'. This is visible from the living room of this condo as you look out eastward down the mighty St. Lawrence towards the Orleans Island.

It is from this location that the beginnings of New France began to develop some 400 years ago. Restaurants, Antique Shops, Art Galleries, and museums are located minutes from this location. Step outside and within minutes you will realize why Quebec has been designated a U.N.E.S.C.O. World Heritage Site.

In 2002 Hollywood went looking for a site location for the Europe scenes for the Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio movie, 'Catch Me If You Can'. If you have seen the movie or if you plan to rent it look for Quebec City as you see Hanks chasing after DiCaprio in France. The turning point when Hanks captures DiCaprio is suppose to be in Paris, France, but is actually shot about one minute away from the condo.

At the Royal Dalhousie we invite you to step into a luxury condo to begin your vacation memories then ....step out into 400 years of history.

perfect, just perfect

From a beautiful and large condo, to a great kitchen, to wonderful windows and views, to guidebooks in the condo, to ED!, this was a wonderful experience. The condo is very well placed, right on charming cobblestone streets and a 5-minute walk to the funicular up to the upper town. We had small children and the place was perfect - strangely elegant and kid proof at the same time. And Ed is wonderful. He had to put up with a LOT of emails and phone calls, but treated us with generosity and care. And he even had his daughter babysit one night! It was truly delightful and really made our trip to Quebec perfect.

Annual new city exploring tour

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and another couple pick a city we have not been to go and explore. This trip was great , maybe even the best of the 8 previous tours we have done. Incredible living space, incredible location, incredible friendly service from Ed and his staff. Be sure to listen to his restaurant recommendations.

50th birthday girls

  • 5 of 5

We travelled to QC for a girls weekend and the apartment was perfect right in the heart of Old Quebec. Huge space for us to gather over wine and cheese while we prepped for the music festival which was the best music deal. Saw awesome bands! Beds were extremely comfortable and the view of the St. Lawrence was an added bonus from the rooftop patio. Definitely coming back. Ed and staff were very attentive too so highly recommend Dalhousie House to any travellers. Close to great restaurants such as Le Quai 19 which was very nice.

This is a fabulous home in Quebec City -- we celebrated my husband's 70th with 2 other friends. We have rented all over the world and this was the very best ever. As one friend said "I will come back to Quebec City only if this apartment is available." World traveler, sophisticated and particular. Ed, the manager, greeted us and was so helpful -- we did not have as car and he dropped us off at the supermarket. The supermarket called us a cab. And so it went -- delightful home to return to, gracious people, fabulous food (Initiale is a few feet away -- Relais Chateau-- incredible food, gave us a private room.) IX is also extraordinary -- more casual but the wow factor is there as well.

The apartment is so well-equipped, with no "fractured" equipment, only stuff that is useable, clean and lovely. Unusual in even high end rentals. The beds were comfortable, bedrooms spacious, well-equipped. We found all of the linens more than adequate and were impressed by the number of extra towels. Lena in the downstairs cafe was so gracious, charming and helpful (like calling cabs for us and directing our walks and gallery destinations) and had the very best pastries and coffee in the morning, plus sandwiches and salads. The cruise ships came but the rooftop views and the very comfortable furniture on the roof meant we could appreciate the harbor and beyond. Take the harbor tour, a real gem.

We left for Montreal and I left a bag of meds and makeup there. Ed contacted me asking what he should do and Genvieve sent my "necessaries" to us here in Richmond. We were all very impressed. So, if you have a car, they have the parking. If not, the cabs are plentiful. And, the parking lot is in the process of becoming a park with paved walkways and a water feature. One could go to the extraordinary market, walkable distance and eventually have a picnic there. We never expected to fall in love with the city and this wonderful place to stay. But, we did.

Owner's Response: I am concerned I might get fired!! With a review like this Mr. Biron might not need me to take care of the sales!! lol Thank you for your kind words. We do our best to provide a great place for our guests to enjoy our beautiful city. I am glad that you arrived home safe and sound and very appreciative of you taking the time to leave a word for future guests. It truly does ease some tensions for those looking to rent a place in Quebec.

So spacious, so lovely!

  • 5 of 5

We have travelled extensively and rented many apartments and homes. The Chinic condo was, by far, the loveliest we have encountered. It was spotless, huge, elegant, most comfortable and the kitchen fully equipped. The view of the St. Lawrence was outstanding and got even better once the cruise ship left. I must add, however, that you also are overlooking a large parking lot. The rooftop deck was wonderful with a view of Chateau Frontenac. My only suggestion: purchase plusher bath towels. Ed Sweeny was a delight to deal with, and his suggestions for

restaurants were spot on. And the cafe downstairs was a real plus. We cannot more highly recommend this condo and the agency from which it was rented.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words and your suggestions. We are pleased to announce that the City of Quebec feels as you do and will begin this autumn doing away with the parking spaces you can see from the condo. In its place they are spending 30 million to build park space with fountains trees etc. etc. Now I bet you can't wait till your next visit!!! Lovely family....lovely guests.

Fantastic, well-appointed, exceeded expectations

  • 5 of 5

The VRBO site very accurately portrayed the condo, and its amenities. The process to secure/confirm the condo for our four-day stay was thorough and reassuring. Aside from the extremely pleasant attributes of the condo, the location for short-term tourists - us - was totally excellent. The unit was very clean. Given an opportunity to return to Quebec City, we would not hesitate to try to obtain the same condo again. We'd even consider changing dates if we had to!
