About Celia Homsher

We bought this wonderful log home as our family get-away, close to home, about 15 years ago. We have so many wonderful family memories with our kids growing up, adventures out on the river (swimming, boating, waterskiing), entertaining friends... Our kids are now grown and we were not using our lovely cabin as much, so we decided to share it with other people so that they can create and enjoy fun memories of vacations as well. If you want a peaceful setting, winter or summer, this is it! Nature surrounds the cabin and is fun to watch from the deck. Bald Eagles and Golden eagles abound Dec-Feb! Deer visit year-round. Fishing is fun in the summer too....or just relax and barbeque on the deck with the fabulous view.

Celia Homsher purchased this house in 2000

Why Celia Homsher chose O'Fallon

We love the cabin because while it is secluded, peaceful, and off the beaten path, it is only 15 minutes to get to grocery stores/shopping/entertainment.

Home is as advertised

  • 4 of 5

Home is beautiful and accommodated our group for the most part. Upon arrival the thermostat was set at 80 degrees. Our stay was during very hot weather and with the open floor plan, it took quite a while to cool off which made the first night’s stay pretty uncomfortable. There weren’t enough towels for everyone. There were 6 guests and only 5 towels out total. And there wasn’t enough hot water for showers for everyone. They had to be spaced apart. The house itself is gorgeous with a gorgeous view. Depending on what you’re looking for, it could be perfect.

Owner's Response: We have just been notified by the last two renters ( both just notified us in the past 48 hours) that the AC doesn't seem to be working properly. It is a newer unit (only 3years old), and we've got the HVAC company scheduled to check it out. So sorry about this. Regarding the towels, the reservation was made for 3 people, and then a man in your group called to say that there would be 5 men -- in town for running a marathon. So we supplied 5 sets of towels. (Note your reservation was re-confirmed with you for 5 people only in the information we sent back to you). I wish you had called us to tell us that you added another to your group and that you needed another set of towels. We would have gladly run them by. We are glad that you enjoyed the cabin otherwise!

Beautiful but hot

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful cabin but it was so hot when we arrived and didn’t really cool off until the next morning. We also didn’t like having to haul our own trash off. We did love the quietness so we were able to get a lot of work done. Beautiful cabin!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We have scheduled the HVAC company to come check things out this week. The AC unit is only 3 years old, so we want to make sure it is working properly. As for the trash, we know this is not convenient, but we do offer the option to take your trash if you ask us. This is all explained in the contract that you sign before you can book the reservation. We're sorry for that inconvenience, but there is no trash service at the cabin. However, you do have the choice for us to take it for a minimal extra fee.

Cozy cabin with a great view

  • 5 of 5

It was a quick girls weekend at this homey cabin and we enjoyed every minute of it. The cabin is very well cared for and clearly loved by its owners. The porch and the view are spectacular. A couple of notes -- the cabin is decorated with a variety of stuffed animals, so if that bothers you, this isn't the place for you (deer, turkeys, etc). Also, you either have to take your garbage with you, or pay $50 to have it taken away, and there's no recycling. Overall a top notch rental; we'd definitely return if we were headed back to St. Louis.

Beautiful sunrises, sunsets and view of river and water fowl off deck

  • 4 of 5

Circuit on back wall in game room does not work. Breaker says dead. Various lamps on tables with nowhere to plug in? Water has high sulpher smell. Bring bottled water and ice. To use downstairs bathroom you have to stand in front of a deer butt. A little annoying Other than that nice stay..
