Thank you so much for allowing us to rent your house it was an amazing week and thank you for doing everything you could to make our week very pleasant. Your manager was also very helpful, and pleasant my kids loved his friendly spirit and magic tricks, thanks again for making our vacation a memorable one. Sincerely, Aida Santiago
We absolutely loved this Guavate home. Linda was incredibly helpful from the very beginning in booking our stay and stayed in communication with us as needed. When we arrived, the property manager Magdalena and her husband (whose name I can't remember) were so kind and warm to us, and very accommodating and communicative about our check in and check out time. They gave us specific directions that were helpful on the mountain roads, and worked with our schedule entirely for picking up and dropping off keys. When we arrived the house was not only clean and spacious, but had all the comforts of home for a beautiful vacation (full kitchen with cooking utensils, music set up, etc.) The views from the back and front porch are stunning, and the location was great to be close to the mountains and make day trips throughout the island. Would highly recommend and will be coming back. Thank you!
This place is fantastic!! Only 1/2 hr from San Juan and the views driving in let alone once you arrive at the house are phenominal. It's very easy to get to any part of the island from here. Guavate is home to the roasted pig resteraunts which you pass by on the way to the property. Very easy to get to and Joe the care taker is great too. If your looking for a place to stay and capture some the islands local color this is the place to do it.
From day one, the owner kept in communication assuring that everything was coordinated and ready for our arrival. The information provided was accurate. The family enjoyed the home and surrounding areas and can attest that Guavate and Cayey are areas to indeed visit; especially if you are wanting to enjoy the island food and music. We visited El Yunque (Rain Forrest), the Bacardi (town of Catano), La Guancha and La Seralles (in Ponce), Boqueron (Beach), etc. Want to taste one of the best coconut and diverse of tasty tropical ice creams--visit Rex Cream in the town of Cayey.
We needed 2 added days after the end of a timeshare stay in Humacao. This mountain house in the 'real' Puerto Rico was a nice balance to our coastal gated community week. The owner graciously accommodated our short-term stay request.
The property manager, who met our car and guided us to the house was knowledgeable and entertaining.
The house is roomy and has nice views of the mountains, valley and Cayey. Cooking utensils are sparse but we got along fine. Sat. tv was a welcome change from the dubious picture quality in Humacao.
The dramatic forested, steep road up doesn't deter everyone -- there is a fair bit of traffic noise from the roadway at property's edge. This may have been especially notable to us as we were there on a weekend, plus at home we are in a rural area. The upside of this is that there was a swingin' joint about 1/2 mile down the road that had a large open-air roofed dance hall, cafeteria line with local specialties, and was choked with locals partying.
Our short stay was a good way to end our Thanksgiving week getaway to Isla de Encanta.
This was our 4th visit to the Island of Enchantment, and, as always, we were not disappointed. This is a roomy house in a great, central location, with a beautiful view. It provided easy access to San Juan, Ponce, Cabo Rojo, Fajardo, Aibonita, and Barranquitas. We were comfortable, although cleanliness was not a strong feature. We did our own scrubbing and washing, especially in the kitchen and bathrooms. The oven and coffee maker did not work, and the refrigerator and toaster oven needed some major cleaning; but, all in all, the house was charming and typically Puerto Rican. There is no A/C, so the late afternoons were a bit stifling. By nightfall, however, with the big fans running, the temperature was very cool. It was also very nice to have a washer and dryer on site to keep up with laundry. The property manager was very helpful, and the owner was very accommodating. We handled the arrangements through email and phone and were quite satisfied with the transaction. If you want to experience Puerto Rico like a native, this is the house to rent!
Upon booking our stay, Linda (owner) contacted me by phone and was very helpful. We talked on the phone several times and she gave us excellent suggestions on what to do during our stay. She was always available and always helpful. The house is only 45 minutes from San Juan and centrally located for many great day trips. Upon return from our day trips, the home was comfortable and had excellent views of the mountains. Of course our favorite was the lechoneras on Sunday (I am craving some of that delicious pork as I type this). For the price, this is the best deal in Puerto Rico. Thank you Linda for opening your home for us - we had a GREAT vacation!
Live music and dancing.
