Quiet & relaxing location, close to the beach

  • 3 of 5

Stayed here (5 people) for the week and enjoyed it. Near Willard beach (10 min walk), Scratch bakery (5 min walk), and Willard Scoops ice cream place. It is not a brand new house but has lots of room and homey.

Quiet convenient and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

Heather was great to work with. The home was cozy, clean and suitable for our family of five. We werent falling over each other in the house. Kids enjoyed the cable tv and wifi. Go figure. The upstairs bedrooms got warm some nights but was tolerable. The house was convenient to the downtown shops and attractions. Willard Beach, Scratch baking and Willard Scoops ice cream shop were within a five minute walk. We would definitely return for another stay.

Spacious property close to the beach.

  • 3 of 5

Our group had a good stay at Heather's. We had no issues getting into the place and it was a short, pleasant walk to the beach. We easily fit into the home with our group of 6. House was very clean. There was a nice backyard area with a picnic table where we could relax outdoors in the evening.

Two small issues we experienced that cause me to diminish my rating- the next door neighbor was very intrusive and found it appropriate to constantly be walking onto the property and into the backyard if our group was outside at the picnic table in back. It made us uncomfortable and caused us to not take more advantage of the backyard space. In addition, Heather deducted $50 from the security deposit for excess laundry. The only laundry we created was the bed linens and towels which were provided per the house amenity listing. I found this additional charge unfair as we had 6 guests (which is allowed per the listing) and used only the linens and towels provided (which she had listed as amenities). I would suggest running a load of laundry before the load she requests you to leave to avoid this charge if you choose to stay here.

Owner's Response: Thank you. I wish you had told me about the neighbor. That has never been mentioned before. As far as the laundry goes, the housekeeper said there had been a dog and linens were used for the dog. Dogs are not permitted per the lease and per the vrbo listing. Therefore, a nominal fee was charged for the housekeeper to clean the linens and to bring additional bedding to the laundrymat. Hope you have a great summer.

Comfortable house in a great location.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our vacation in this quiet road, despite the occasional sound of aircraft overhead . Nearby Willard beach is lovely . Local amenities are close too and Portland and other interesting places are easily accessible, The house is comfortable and has all that is needed. There were ,however , only three of us staying in it. Iwould recommend this property to family and friends.

Relaxing Stay.

  • 4 of 5

Stayed here (6 people) for a small vacation and loved it. Near beach (10 min walk), delicious bakery (5 min walk), ice cream place. Not a brand new house but lots of room, clean and "homey", with a nice backyard (great for cook outs). Really affordable price well worth the privacy one would not get from a hotel. Owner is very reasonable and promptly responds to any messages. We would stay here again.

Perfect place for our needs.

  • 5 of 5

My family and I rented this property for a week so we could spend some time at the beach, visiting local friends, and in Portland enjoying the restaurants and cultural offerings. It was a perfect fit for our needs. Clean, spacious, comfortable, affordable, and close to everything. I would rent it again in a heartbeat.

About Heather

I am a broker with The Maine Real Estate Network and purchased my first rental in 1995. I have lived in Maine most of my life and enjoy the natural beauty, wildlife, laid back lifestyle, and healthy, friendly communities that thrives in Maine. Here I am on our prior 27' sailboat, Chrysoprase, in Casco Bay. We love to sail among the beautiful calendar islands, and you will love the coast too!

Heather purchased this house in 2006

Why Heather chose Willard

This home is a short walk to the beach and quick drive to Portland's Old Port. The beach has unsurpassed views of Casco Bay and the Calendar Islands. Willard Beach is a nice sand beach wonderful for romantic walks, sunbathing and swimming. There is an excellent running and biking path along Shore Road to Fort Williams Park that is great any time of day. I have run the Beach to Beacon Road Race many times, which finishes up the road at Fort Williams Park. There are several other nice oceanside parks within walking distance and the locals are very friendly. I enjoy strolling along the beach at night, and walking to the bakery in the early morning. I have many friends who own boats at the local marinas. Boats are available to rent at Port Harbor Marine, a five minute drive. The Willard area is a charming oceanside community with beautiful ocean views and many things to do within a short walking or driving distance. Portland is very alive either day or night offering entertainment, shopping, city tours aboard the Olde Port Trolley, Duckboat, or Narrow Gauge Railroad. Summer festivals are abundant in Maine and include the Old Port Festival in June, Rockland Blues Festival in July and of course their are many fairs in the fall.

What makes this house unique

From this lovely home, you can hear the lighthouses and bouys gong in the distance, especially at night. When you walk to the beach, you will see beautiful Windjammers, ferries, lobster and pleasure boats navigating in and out of the harbor. The salt air is refreshing, and as you walk or ride bike your bike, take in the bold ocean views along many of the neighboring streets. Some of the most reknown restaurants and bakeries in the Portland area are within walking distance from the house, and the Old Port is a short three mile distance away. The backyard is private and great for entertaining. The home is on two stories, enabling guests to comfortably enjoy their stay and relax. There is minimal street traffic as the road is a dead end with a grove of trees at the bottom. It is very childsafe.
