Gorgeous Private Home- Pool-Near Beach

Bedrooms 2
Property type house
Minimum Stay 5 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

This is our private vacation home that we built in 2005 for the use of ourselves, our children and grandchildren. The layout is ideally suited for 2 adult couples with full kitchen amenities even including a dishwasher. The bedrooms and baths are oversized with unique Mexican styling using handmade Talevera tile in the lower bath and a lighted translucent onyx countertop in the upstairs bath.

Lots of outdoor living space on the patio/pool level, the master bedroom balcony and the roof terrace almost double the 1500 square feet of living space to over 2500 square feet of paradise. Lots of small gardens surround the house and entry with local plants like banana trees and heliconias adding to the privacy and unique beauty of 'Casa de Las Palmas Morada' (House of the Purple Palms)

The property is very secure with private gated entrance and weekly maid, gardener, and pool maintenance as well as local property manager to assure your perfect vacation!

We sincerely hope you will enjoy our home as much as we have!

About Virginia Mattox, Owner

In early 2005 we bought a bare lot on the beach side of Bucerias and spent the next 2 years building our dream vacation home. We did not build a typical spartan rental property but instead built for ourselves and later decided to rent it some each year to help pay the maintenance costs and upkeep. We still spend part of every winter there and are able to maintain the high quality.

Virginia Mattox, Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why Virginia Mattox, Owner chose Bucerías

Having traveled throughout Mexico since the late 1970s we knew that we wanted to be near the beach and near major airports, etc for easy access. We were lucky enough to find what has turned out to be the ideal property for us.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we have!

What a gem this sweet home is! Nestled into the quaint town of Bucerias, Virginia’s home made our stay feel like we really did get a real glimpse of Mexico! Well stocked kitchen and all items needed for an easy 5 min walk to beach. Close to grocery store and bus stops (we so appreciated the recommendations in the visitor book—spent an afternoon in La Cruz). Owner and manager responsive and kind. Loved it so much we hope to be back soon! Thank-you!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. We love to give people that "authentic sense of Mexico" by being in a real neighborhood, but with the ease and convenience of a fine resort. Fun, relaxation, sense of adventure, and safety are high on our list.

beautiful home, wonderful retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, and my brother in law and sister in law have stayed at this wonderful house two years in a row now (January 2017 and 2018). It has everything that you need for a relaxing vacation. The bedrooms are VERY spacious, well furnished and comfortable. The two bathrooms are great, and so nice to have a separate bathroom for each couple. The kitchen is fully equipped, and has a dishwasher which is somewhat rare in Mexico. This is not your run of the mill house. The owner is an artist and her beautiful work is displayed throughout. The house has a Mexican flair with lovely tile work. It feels totally secure as it is behind a locked gate. The property is very private, we often had coffee out by the pool in our pjs.

Something that is not seen here in the pictures is the street that it is located on. I loved it! So quaint. For those with mobility issues it should be noted that there is a hill to go down to get to the beach. Having said that, taxis are cheap cheap cheap and always available. We would walk to town, and take a taxi back for 50 pesos.

For us this was just a great introduction to Mexico and the Bucerias area. My husband was always a bit nervous to travel to Mexico, and this property absolutely changed that.

Highly recommend it!

Great house

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful house in a great location. Perfect for two couples with large bedrooms. Temps were in the 80s but never used the AC - just opened the windows in the evening. The great outdoor patio is very roomy with plenty of shade under the palapa. Used the pool every afternoon to cool down. Ideally located close to restaurants/beach and there is a new large store for groceries just 4 blocks away (Chedraui). Virginia was great to deal with.

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We had a terrific stay at this property. The layout (master bedroom upstairs, another large bedroom on the ground floor at the back) makes the home ideal to share. Kitchen is well-stocked, and even has a working dishwasher (a rarity).

Plunge pool isn't big, but it is about 5 feet deep. The outside deck and pool area are terrific, with great landscaping. It's a wonderful place to hang out, during the day or in the evening.

This property may not be suitable for persons with mobility issues, or for the very lazy. The "ground floor" of the property is up about 10 steps from street level, and the master bedroom is upstairs from the ground floor. Also, the property is on the third road up from the beach, so there is a short but steep hill to go up. None of this was in issue for us.

Amazing stay!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed in this fantastic house over Christmas and new years. The beds are super comfy and the outdoor space is perfect. This home is close to everything including the new grocery store which made life even easier. The homeowner is lovely and the staff are helpful with anything you may need. Don't stay in a hotel, rent this house. You won't regret it!!

Nice place to stay!

  • 4 of 5

My family stayed at this lovely house after Thanksgiving. The house is beautifully decorated, inviting and comfortable with all the amenities we needed: Wifi, swimming pool, patio, bbq, kitchen, washer/dryer, ample space, etc. We used the swimming pool almost every day, and the kitchen was well-equipped when the mood struck to cook (however with so many good restaurants nearby we hardly cooked). We especially liked the outdoor shower inside the front gate to rinse off the sand before coming into the house. The beach was pretty close, however we had a couple of older relatives staying with us who had some trouble climbing the steep hill on the street, but walking slow and steady and taking a couple of short breaks helped. We liked the area, very quiet (except for a few fireworks and music at night from Decameron Resort), and the restaurants/shops were close for walking. The little corner stores were also handy for a quick run on eggs, milk, paper towels, etc. We just had one issue when the A/C remote didn’t work/went missing so we had to sleep in a very hot room on the first night, but the next day Marycarmen brought us another remote and a handyman who got us back up and running so we were comfortable the rest of the week. We did have some trouble adjusting the speed of the ceiling fans in the bedrooms, it seemed we had to pull the chain hard to make it change speeds which made the entire unit sway so it was a little scary - it seemed like it would fall. Other than that, we were very happy with the house and the area, and we hope to visit again soon!
