Hibiscus Villa is a luxurious newish (2009) home designed to enjoy Caribbean living inside and out in lovely, unspoiled Grenada. The villa is beautifully designed and furnished with tropical-style décor and architecture. Outside, the villa has spacious terraces and a large saline pool. Spectacular views of the ocean, bay and mountains can be seen inside and out. Guests at Hibiscus Villa can enjoy relaxed, luxurious Caribbean living in their own private villa.

Hibiscus Villa is ideal for groups, families, couples and honeymooners – private and romantic.

Hibiscus Villa’s main floor has a large, open living area with three sets of French doors open to the terrace, allowing guests to enjoy the spectacular views right from the villa. As the owner’s hobby is gourmet cooking, the spacious kitchen is well outfitted. A dining table seats eight.

There are two master bedrooms, each with a king bed and French doors opening to its own deck to enjoy the beautiful views, and at opposite ends of the house for privacy. The third bedroom has a queen bed. All three bedrooms have a full private bath, ceiling fan, and a.c., and are upstairs from the living area – private and quiet. A day bed and trundle in the study provides additional beds for older children or smaller adults.

Hibiscus Villa has a spacious outdoor terrace of lovely coral stone with a large (32’) saline pool, both sunny and shaded areas, and privacy from neighbors. It is comfortably furnished with teak outdoor furniture – a dining table for six, comfortable lounge chairs, and six chaise lounges. On the outdoor terrace guests can laze in the sun, read in the shade, swim in the pool, dine, and have cocktails – all while overlooking spectacular views of the ocean, bay and mountains.

The grounds are beautifully landscaped with a profusion of tropical flowering plants, bushes and trees, including 8 kinds of palms.

Hibiscus Villa is the perfect place to enjoy an easy, relaxed vacation or as a base to easily see and enjoy the unspoiled beauty of Grenada.

Paradise in Grenada
The property was extremely nice. You can tell that it was designed with the details in mind: lots of shade, windows situated to maximize the breeze with amazing views of the water & nearby bay. Mary, the property owner, was very thorough in explaining the surrounding area including the restaurants, nearby beaches & stores. She made me feel welcomed & informed. She even sent a map with certain places circled, very nice touch. We had an issue and she was very accommodating & understanding. I appreciated that. I would stay here again.

Relaxing Holiday
We had a lovely time at this beautiful home. Well designed and built with the most beautiful view and a lovely swimming pool overlooking the ocean. Good air conditioning in the bedrooms in the evening and a through breeze in the living areas in the daytime that kept the house cool and fresh. An easy to use and beautifully equipped kitchen with most cooking condiments that you need. Every pot and pan, knife and plates and glasses for inside and out. We felt very secure as it was in a lovely neighbourhood with pretty landscaped gardens. We found a tiny resort hotel called Laluna , 20 minutes away, that had a lovely spa for massages and a day pass was available there as well if you wanted to snorkel, paddle board or sit on the beach. The restaurant was lovely and the staff there were exemplary. As it is the quiet season we were almost the only people there. A housemaid comes 3 times a week and changes the towels, wipes the kitchen sides, cleans the toilets and sweeps the floor. We were picked up at the airport which was a wonderful treat as it would be quite hard to find the house the first time you go there. We hired a car and enjoyed lovely road trips to the rum factory in the north, les Grande Anses beach and St Georges harbour in the West, Les Sauteurs in the North Our sons used the gym at LaLuna and got temporary membership at Fit for Life in Les Grand Anses.

Wonderful villa - well appointed with great views!
Our family (2 parents, 2 kids, 2 grandparents) spent a week at the lovely Hibiscus villa. The villa is beautiful where all the small and important details have been planned. The pool is of good size with wonderful views. Nice and plentiful linens. We all felt very safe and comfortable. The owner was so thoughtful with sending us a lot of helpful information prior to our trip. We greatly appreciated how well our stay at the villa was managed. We loved Grenada and this villa!

Truly a Paradise
The hand-made mahogany doors, windows and shutters are works of art that set the stage for this house. They are magnificent examples of architectural form and function. Whether wide open for the day or secured at night, they merge indoor and outdoor spaces into a seamless experience. As you sit by the pool, prepare a meal, dine inside or out, relax in the living room or sleep in a bedroom, you’ll be enveloped by the luxurious Caribbean breezes that flow throughout the house day and night. Despite new, efficient AC units in each of the bedrooms we never needed to turn any on throughout our 10-day stay during very warm weather. Instead we had restful, comfortable nights as we slept surrounded by refreshing ocean breezes. As with the windows and doors, a very high standard of fit and finish is maintained throughout the rest of house. The overall layout of the is efficient, convenient and suitable for many combinations of adults and kids. The kitchen is conveniently located, nicely designed, well equipped and has quality appliances as well as a gas grill just steps away. Plenty of sumptuous towels and linens are provided. Entertainment includes cable TV, indoor/outdoor audio systems, puzzles and games plus loads of beach equipment. The surrounding landscape is spectacular, filled with a broad assortment of botanist-quality specimens including palms, shrubs and flowering bushes in a dazzling array of color. The grounds and interior are impeccable reflecting a high level of cleaning and maintenance. The view from the pool patio, living room and primary bedrooms is a breathtaking combination of sea and shoreline cliffs. Located on the south eastern coast, the location is private and secluded yet convenient to the many attractions Grenada has to offer. A variety of beaches and restaurants, a plantation, a botanical garden, distilleries, marinas, water sports, water falls, grocery stores, the main city and the airport are all within a short drive. As if all of the above were not enough, the homeowners go out of their way to make their guests feel welcome prior to and during their stay. Informative, thoughtful and available they are as gracious as the home they have created.

Perfect holiday
We had a fantastic stay at Mary's villa. It is exactly as the pictures show with amazing views, a brilliant swimming pool, and superb kitchen. It was a true home from home, and we cannot recommend it highly enough. For those who have not been, Greneda is a wonderful island. Having been to a lot of the caribbean, I can say it can only be matched by Tobago; both are understated with non of the over the top resorts that you might find in the larger islands. We are looking forward to our next visit.

About the host

Hosted by Mary Halloran

Host profile image
Mary Halloran & Marc Davies, Pennsylvania USA We rented many villas before building Hibiscus Villa, and took the best ideas from all when we designed, built and outfitted the villa (finished in Summer, 2009). We wanted a house that looked and felt like it was in the Caribbean, not an American beach house put in the Caribbean. People live outdoors in the Caribbean. So we have French doors open to the terrace and decks, casement windows and louvers opened to the sea breezes. The spacious outdoor terrace and pool are just outside the living area so life flows easily from outside to inside. Even the sound system has outdoor speakers. And with the beautiful gardens the villa is named for, it’s like living in the middle of a tropical botanical garden. We also wanted guests’, and our own, needs to be met in great detail. After all, you are on vacation when you are at Hibiscus Villa. So it’s well-outfitted with everything we could think of, from entertainment to cooking utensils to working in a home office to luxury bed linens and towels. We think you will enjoy life at Hibiscus Villa in Grenada as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

A friend who used to sail a lot in the Caribbean told us for many years other sailors told him he really should visit Grenada. When he finally did, he promptly bought land there. We understand that love for the island - we also fell in love with it and bought land on our first visit there. Grenada is a kind and gentle island with warm, friendly people. Described as “unspoiled”, there are no casinos, no high rises, and a quiet nightlife. It has amazing natural beauty of mountains and waterfalls, volcanic crater lakes and lush tropical landscapes. Of course, it also has the beautiful white sand beaches with calm waters that people desire in the Caribbean. And for us foodies - many good restaurants. We may not want to gamble, but we like to eat well! And if we were going to own a house in the Caribbean, we wanted an English-speaking island, a safer one, and a lush, beautiful one. We have all that in Grenada. Hibiscus Villa is located in Fort Jeudy, a peninsula on Grenada’s southern coast that is known for its beautiful homes, lovely views, and ocean breezes. Grenada is the most southerly of the Windward Islands, near Barbados and Trinidad. Formerly a British colony, having gained independence in 1975, Grenada is now a member of the British Commonwealth, like Canada and Australia. Its currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar, pegged at a fixed rate to the U.S. dollar.

What makes this property unique

We love to laze on the terrace and enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean, bay and mountains with either a glass of wine or coffee in our hand. We also like to go for walks around the neighborhood - it's quiet, safe and lovely. For early risers, the sunrises are spectacular. In the afternoon we snorkel on the beach nearby or swim in the pool. While there is lots to do in Grenada, we find it hard to tear ourselves away from relaxing in the villa and enjoying the spectacular views. The villa is conveniently located within a short drive to most activities and restaurants on Grenada for when you do want to leave the villa.
