Why The Owner chose Outing

Our family has enjoyed Weekend Getaways for several years. We have rented many cabins across Minnesota and completely fell in love with the cabin at Roosevelt Pines. The cabin was everything we expected and more. When it became available to purchase, we knew deep down that it was meant to be! We have enjoyed making memories with our family and we want to provide that same experience for others. T.R.'s Lodge is located 1 3/4 miles from Outing,MN. It's near Roosevelt Lake which was named for President Theodore Roosevelt. We named the cabin T.R.'s Lodge in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt as well. We love his whole-hearted devotion to family life and his passion for the Great Outdoors.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We came to this cabin in Roosevelt Pines exhausted in body, mind and spirit. Here we have found peace, rest and restoration for which we are very grateful. Everything about the cabin is so cozy and snug, you can't help but relax and let your cares melt away. We're only sad about one thing- having to leave it today. Thank you for creating this Northwoods haven. We hope to return one day and introduce it to our children and grandchildren."

Nice place to relax.

  • 4 of 5

We spent two nights in this cozy cabin. The place was a great size and had all the basic amenities we needed. The temperature outside was terrible so we were stuck inside the entire time which was fine because we are great at entertaining ourselves. We are rating this cabin at 4 stars rather than five due to a few reasons. We were under the impression that the cabin had a fireplace we could enjoy as it is listed as one of the amenities. The fireplace is very tiny and sits on the floor. When turned on, it trips the fuse. Also, the cleaning list is rather extensive for such a short stay.

We did enjoy ourselves and thought the place was very cute.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

Overall had a great time at this cabin. Great relaxing spot for my wife and myself to take a break from work for a few days. Cabin was everything we anticipated and was perfect for doing puzzles, games, and watching movies. Would defiantly recommend this location to anyone!

When we arrived at the cabin it was freezing outside with winds had to be 50mph. The cabin heated up so quickly and was very cozy. The place was decorated beautifully and we constantly found new artifacts to enjoy. We were excited a few days later when the winds died down and we were able to have a fire in the pit. Pairs of deer entertained us at dusk as they wandered through the property. Wee enjoyed our stay at your cabin very much.

Easily could have been a great stay .

  • 3 of 5

Cute cabin peaceful location. Felt very private . Disappointed that there was not ample firewood or propane for grill . Seems like small things but was looking forward to campfires and grilling out . I don't think this is a normal just an unfortunate oversight during our stay .

Fantastic Weekend Getaway while Enjoying the Great Outdoors!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I spent the weekend at this adorable cabin in the woods. We brought our RZR along and enjoyed the local trails which we were able to get to without having to trailer them into town. Check-in went smoothly thanks to the great communication with the Owners. I would have given them 5-stars but feel some amenities were missing and/or needing some updating but overall we enjoyed the weekend and the location. I personally would have loved to have WiFi available it rained Saturday night so we could have streamed some movies. (Although they did have a DVD player with a selection of DVDs and a Wii) we really just were looking for a good romantic comedy and there isn't a place close by to rent one either. We also used the grill and while we might be spoiled because we have a pellet grill at home my husband felt this grill might need some updating as it has passed its prime but we were able to grill some steaks and potatoes just had to figure out where the hot spots were. Overall I would highly recommend this cabin and we are already talking about making this an annual thing and I'd for sure come back to this location I would just pack some movies and a small grill.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for providing a review for your stay at our little cabin in the woods. Part of the reason we continue to open our doors is when we hear the experiences that our guests have up in the Northwoods. We strive to provide a enjoyable experience at the lowest cost possible, so suggestions on how we can improve are always welcome. We have to choose our upgrades carefully, as we have operated at a significant loss since we opened our doors to the public. Unfortunately, wireless internet service from the local company is exorbitantly priced for suboptimal bandwidth speeds. I can get better service from my mobile hotspot than the 'wired' access from the local provider that requires an additional phone line for service which we would never use. Another reason we do not provide wireless service is the fact that our 3 children are overexposed to web connectivity everyday, and sometimes they need to disconnect from that to reconnect with themselves, each other, and nature. Anyways, we're excited to hear that you might be a return guest, and hopefully we can improve our outdoor cooking setup as we really enjoy cooking on a grill and so do most of our guests. Thanks again!
