The well appointed Captain Lawrence E. Johnson House is available as a weekly luxury summer rental and year round, Maine Island Getaway, on Bailey Island, featuring four luxury bedrooms with flexible accommodations with en suite bathrooms, modern professional kitchen, dining, comfortable living spaces, and a fully equipped media room with free high-speed wireless internet, and energy-efficient central heat and air conditioning in all bedrooms. Bookings for special events, reunions, and retreats are also welcome.

Enjoy all Bailey Island and Orr's Island has to offer; great super fresh lobster, walk to secluded Cedar Beach, hike to the Giant Stairs, rent a Kayak, or book a fishing or sailing charter with one of the many able local skippers.

The house is completely furnished and ready for your enjoyment.

Well-Appointed
Wonderful home with terrific views in a great location! As previous reviewers have noted, the kitchen has everything (and more!) one needs for cooking and entertaining while on vacation. We cooked most nights, including a couple nights of fresh lobster from the cove less than a mile away. Out of the water and I to the pot in less than an hour! Fresh, tasty, delicious! The deck is wonderful and our dog loved sitting out there and watching nature. The beds were comfortable, and there are cabinets full of dvds and puzzles and games. On two rainy days, it wasn’t a problem to stay indoors. It was a pleasure to kick back and relax! The owner, Brett, was very responsive when the WiFi went down one day or when we planned to cook 100 lbs of lobster and asked about an outdoor heating element. He came and set it up right away. Btw, in the cabinet is everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, one needs for preparing and eating lobster. Brett is also a wealth of k owl edge for local anything. Also, don’t forget to visit his storefront - Main Street Design Co - in nearby Bath. Very special and quality home interior goods.

Best gathering spot
This house is simply beautiful. All the fun nautical decor and tasteful furnishings were enjoyed by everyone. Everyone had their own space yet, there were many areas to allow a large group to gather. The long outdoor table was full every night for dinner. Close to the beach and scenic hikes. Perfect for our grandchildren to enjoy each other in the large playroom downstairs. Awesome vacation, thank you!

The home was lovely and the location was remote and quiet. There are some maintenance issues that need to be addressed such as the leaking ceiling and the bushes that block the visibility of the road when leaving the drive.

Great getaway!
Loved the house! Plenty of bedrooms and multiple living areas for all ages. Our 4 year old grandson loved the toys and games. The kitchen had everything we could ask for and more. The only downside was the location on the main road onto Bailey Island. We were hesitant to go for walks from there (we did see others doing it) but could easily drive to find hiking areas and beaches. Our family really enjoyed the trip!

Johnson Family Managed by Brett Johnson with the help of Mom Millie Johnson, Sister Cathy Silva and Brother Chris Johnson, Aunt Connie Roberts does the bookkeeping and our spouses and our children all pitch in. This is a family home that has been beautifully and lovingly restored and remodeled for the express purpose of preserving an historic family property on Bailey Island on the Coast of Maine. We are pleased to make it available for your family to also enjoy.

The house has been home to Larry and Eileen Johnson who are our grandparents and our father Captain Jeff Johnson. Larry and Jeff, two generations of sea captains who made their livings on the sea. Eileen a talented cook and restaurant owner.

Our family roots are extremely deep on Bailey Island and the next generations continue a legacy of welcoming guests and warm hospitality.
