About this property

Lake Michigan Sunset View Cottage, Tunnel of Trees, Good Hart. Easement to Lake.

Four-bedroom cottage for rent. Located 12 miles north of Harbor Springs on scenic M-119, the nationally-renowned "Tunnel of Trees" in Good Hart, Michigan. The location is a favorite for cyclists (e.g., the last leg of the DALMAC bike tour).

We prefer Saturday to Saturday rentals during late June-August.

Nearly 2,000 sq. ft., the house features beautiful sunset-facing Lake Michigan views from most rooms. Our setting also has a nice sunset viewing deck with a fire pit. The cottage layout is excellent for multi-families or multi-generations, given three separate living spaces.

There are four bedrooms and three full baths. The main bedroom has a king-sized, luxurious pillowtop bed, high-quality towels and bed linens, a walk-in closet, and an adjoining full bath. There are three queen-sized pillowtop beds in the remaining three bedrooms—a contemporary finished basement, a game room with a hide-a-bed, and 3rd bathroom with a shower. The home can be used as a remote and secluded home office. High-speed internet, a printer, and some office supplies are provided. Have Lake Michigan as your view!

The kitchen has a refrigerator, gas oven/range, dishwasher, and microwave. The main floor has a washer and dryer. There are 4 HDTVs throughout the house (including a 62'inch TV with surround sound stereo system in the basement). There are two TVs equipped with Apple TV and one with Roku (available to stream Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, etc., plus local TV channels) and Blu-Ray DVD players, four stereo systems, and a basement gaming area with a ping pong table and a card table - offering all the creature comforts of home. The cottage owner supplies bed linen, bath towels, cooking, and eating utensils.

The house is 400 feet from the Tunnel of Trees (M119) on a heavily wooded 5+ acre lot offering secluded privacy—The private beach easement is located below the property. Please view the video for easy access instructions. Two, township beaches are within one mile of the cottage. These access points allow for nice beachcombing—plenty of public and semi-private golf courses within easy driving distance. Recreational in-land lakes (Burt Lake, Crooked Lake, Pickerel Lake, Larks Lake, Douglas Lake, and others) are nearby. Renting a boat and floating on the Inland waterway is an excellent summer adventure.

There are lovely unique shops and a General Store within walking distance.

Just 20 minutes from Boyne Highlands golf and skiing (weather permitting).

The cottage is located seven miles south of the famed Legs Inn, Cross Village. Eight miles north of Pond Hill Farm and Harbor Springs Winery. Enjoy glass blowing at Good Hart Glass Works or crafting at Three Pines Studio.

This property has a game camera located away from the house. The game camera picks up plenty of deer and driveway traffic.

Warm, large cabin along the Tunnel of Trees
This home is located (in the woods just off SR119) about half-way along the Tunnel of Trees, and convenient for excursions to Mackinaw City, Harbor Springs, and Petoskey. With 4 bedrooms, it can easily house 8 adults. It is incredibly well equipped with everything we needed to cook and play. The owner was helpful and easy to communicate with. We enjoyed hikes in several nearby state parks, shopping in up-scale stores, and dinners in very good restaurants within 1/2 hour drive. We would certainly consider staying here again.

Excellent Getaway
Good Hart captured our hearts with their incredible friendly neighbors and shop owners. The beaches were beautiful, everything we could have wanted and imagined it would be. The home was clean and roomy for our family, and very well stocked. Although not directly on the water, we were less than 2 miles driving distance, which worked out well. Thank you, Pat, for opening your home to us and allowing our family to create memories that will surely last a lifetime. We would recommend Good Hart and this location to others and hope to return soon!

Clean, comfy, cozy cottage with amazing sunset view
The cottage was the perfect location for our family gathering. There was abundant space and comfy beds for 6 adults. The sunset deck and fire pit were great and used each day to enjoy mother nature’s end of day show. The beach is a quick 4 minute drive away. The Good Hart store is a 5 minute walk away. If you are looking for a relaxing, nostalgic stay in Good Hart this spot is a great choice!

Rare find
This property exceeded our expectations. The house was well appointed. The kitchen was fully stocked. It was a comfortable and pleasant space. The grounds were spacious. There were several group seating options. The deck and firepit were our favorite spots. The view of the lake and sunset were outstanding. We competed for the best sunset shot. The trip down to the lake is easy, taking only a few minutes. There are several beaches in the area all competing for best beach. The location on the Tunnel of Trees was a beautiful and great jump off spot to visit the neighboring areas. There was lots to do. We were a group of 6 guys and there was something for everyone. The bicyclers, golfers, kayakers, beach walkers, and sunbathers were all happy. The management was easily available, offering quick solutions and suggestions for our needs.

Love all nature has to offer. Blessed to be able to view and access the Great Lakes. M119 is my favorite road bike ride. Our cottage holds generations of great memories.

Why they chose this property

This property was purchased shortly after Pat cycled the DALMAC, and was introduced to the beauty of M 119 and Emmet County. It has brought many years of enjoyment to her friends and family.

What makes this property unique

This property has fabulous sunset views of Lake Michigan. It has plenty of space indoors and out for large families to gather together and find their own area to enjoy their own time. It is located along the famous M119 Tunnel of Trees. One of the most beautiful drives in the nation. This location is also a great remote home office. The location is in the heart of great numerous preserves for hiking given all the Little Traverse Conservancy properties https://landtrust.org/nature-preserve-map. You can also boat in the Great Lakes or along the inland waterway.
