Holidays in the monument combines heritage preservation and tourism. Historically valuable construction tools are taken over, gently renovated and rented as holiday apartments. The model makes a double profit: the monuments get a new future and the holidaymakers experience a stay in an extraordinary building. The idea is realized by the foundation Ferien im Baudenkmal (FiB), which was founded in 2005 by the Swiss Homeland Security.

Parking: There is a parking space directly at the house and a garage parking space.

Public transport: The house Blumenhalde can be reached by train S-Bahn S7 from Zurich or Rapperswil every half an hour. From the train station you can walk to the house in 10 minutes. A special arrival is the boat trip over Lake Zurich, for example from the Bürkliplatz in Zurich (once a day). The Schifflände in Ürikon is right on the doorstep.

Number of persons 6: There is a cot (up to 2 years) available. The house sleeps six guests (plus baby). There are three double rooms available. On the ground floor is the entrance area and a large room with direct exit to the garden. In the 1. Floor there is the kitchen, dining room and the living room with a balcony and a toilet, in the 2nd Floor there are two double bedrooms and a bathroom and in the attic there is another double room.

Garden: The house has a garden bordering Lake Zurich. The garden of the house leads unsecured to the lake. The owner refuses all liability resulting from this fact and from the use of the in-house rowing boat. A rowing boat with enough life jackets is available for free.

Open: The house can be rented from April to October.

Pets: Pets are not allowed.

IMPORTANT SUPPLEMENT
The Blumenhalde is a monument that has been renovated with great respect for the existing substance. The tenant is aware of this and meets the object with care. Although technically state-of-the-art, certain functional details do not correspond to common standards today and harbor a potential source of danger. These circumstances are known to the tenant. The owner, e-domizil and the foundation Ferien im Baudenkmal disclaim all liability.

We would like to inform you once again politely that the house Blumenhalde may be used exclusively for holiday purposes and is designed for six people. NO SOLIDS MUST BE CELEBRATED IN THE FLOWER HARBOR. If you are planning a party, you can rent the Ritterhaus Saal or the Hecht Saal in the immediate vicinity. These rooms are specially designed for parties. Out of consideration for the local residents, we ask you to comply with the contractually agreed clause. The garden of the house is adjacent to the lake unsecured. The owner refuses any liability resulting from this fact as well as from the use of the in-house rowing boat.

 History & Information
The Zürichsee-Riegelhaus dates from the 18th century. Century. Around 1900, the building was converted into apartments. The staircase has been changed and the rooms divided with partitions. Most of these installations were removed during the refurbishment in 2009, so that today the original room structure is available again. All rooms are furnished with original wooden floors and wall and ceiling beetles painted in Biedermeier colors. A modern kitchen and a modern bathroom contribute to contemporary comfort.
On the ground floor there is a studio room. While in 1. Upstairs kitchen, living and dining room are to be found, were in the 2nd and 3. Floor the three bedrooms furnished. The garden reaches to the water. A private boat shelter with rowing boat is also part of the house.

renovation
The house is in the local inventory of buildings worth protecting. It was a concern of the client, as far as possible to return to the original state. The building fabric is in good condition even two hundred years after construction, so it was possible to do without actual interventions. The exterior of the house has been retained in its original form. The walls of the lower two floors are made of plastered masonry. On it stands the actual bar construction, which gives the house its own character. Inside, the floors, walls, ceilings, windows and doors were carefully renovated and restored their original expression with purposeful coloring.
The partitions built around 1900 and other harmonizing elements such as banisters were removed and replaced with fine fixtures that do not disturb the sense of space. The kitchen with a large freestanding fridge and the bathroom with double lavabo, toilet and bath / shower were newly created. The clever design, these new objects fit well into the old house.
