About this property

Charming, peaceful 1 bedroom cottage with a serene waterfront view

On the western shore of a private peninsula, this one bedroom cottage is the perfect place to get away from it all and relax. Surrounded by conservation land, the area abounds with wildlife.

There is a hiking trail along water's edge and also kayaks or canoes for rent to explore the waterways.

The cottage has the warmth of wood floors, wood beamed ceilings and comfortable furnishings to add to your relaxation. The screened in porch makes a great place to watch the sun setting over the water.

There is a queen size bed in the bedroom.

For those who desire to stay 'plugged in' we offer basic channels and wifi.

The kitchen is complete with full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster and coffee pot not to mention all the pots, pans, dishes and utensils you will need. If you enjoy to BBQ there is a charcoal grill just outside the front door. For lobster lovers we have a large pot available for you to cook them fresh in your cottage.

The midcoast area of Maine is known for its miles of white sandy beaches and lobster wharfs where you can enjoy their famous lobster dinners on the dock as you watch the lobstermen bringing in their catch for the day. What makes the midcoast so appealing is the fact that you get to enjoy all this without the crowds. You will love the slower pace of life and the pristine beauty of this untouched area.

Rustic, lots of nature, small town feel.
Enjoyed hiking local trails(great mushroom foraging). The highlights of the trip were climing over Morse Mountain to the beautifu remote Seawall beach having a picnic and doing a little boogie boarding (two mile hike each way, bring bug dope), and taking a boat ride out to cabbage island in Boothbay for an old fashioned clam/lobster bake. Also just enjoyed sitting on the screaned in porch playing cards and enjoying the wild life. Loved the Georgetown country store!

Lovely Place
Just what we needed, secluded and peaceful, but easy into Bath where we have family. Only issue was with wifi. The Network name and password in the check-in email and the name and password posted in the cabin were different and neither one worked, but we quickly figured out that the right name and password were on the router box that was in plain site. No problem.

A perfect stay in a peaceful and bucolic setting
It was everything we had hoped for and more! The cottage was charming and perfectly sized and appointed for us. The grounds were delightful...it was a joy to sit on the screened porch with a coffee, overlooking the waterfront. We loved being able to walk the nearby trail with our pup each morning, and renting a canoe right up the road couldn't have been a more convenient and pleasurable addition to our trip. We also loved the entire area of Georgetown/Five Islands/Bath...it was quiet and off the beaten path when it came to having too many other tourists around, but still plenty to do every day! Katie was a great host and will definitely book again if looking to stay in the area.

Cozy Cabin
Small & intimate cabin on a bucolic tidal river offering a beautiful view & spectacular sunsets. It’s a short drive to Bath for essentials & there is plenty to do & places to go along the Maine coast within easy driving distance. AND dog friendly!

About the host

Hosted by Katie Francis

Host profile image
We, Sam and Ruth Francis, are the owners and hosts of eight rental properties in Georgetown, Maine. We have four wonderful grown sons and are proud grandparents. We worked for years to finish our timber frame dream home at the tip of the peninsula. We have past the property management part of the cottages to our son, Chris and his wife, Katie.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this unique fifty acre property with its half mile long peninsula over thirty years ago. Since then we have lived here and operated a traditional wooden boat shop. Over the years we have built six charming cottages, as well as, converted a Sailor's Loft to a rental with breathtaking, panoramic views. We also, offer the home that we first built and lived in to renters, with it's ideal location at the tip of the peninsula with deep water frontage and a private dock. We have added other touches to our property with a garden house, ten slip boat dock, a hiking trail and clearings for fishing and picnics.

What makes this property unique

The cottages are situated to allow privacy but also to maintain the quality of the open, natural spaces. Each cottage overlooks the marsh and adjacent Back River which flows off the mighty Kennebec and Nature Conservancy land beyond.
