A Pretty House that Needs Better Management
I was surprised this property only had 2 old reviews. The house itself is pretty, in a great setting. Unhappily the house is not well run. Having rented houses from this site and others for many years, this is the most poorly managed property I have rented. The property rents through an agency in Denmark. They are nice people, but the Italian office is in Sienna, a 1000 miles and a world away. The directions we had to meet property manager wrong, the wife came to meet us. The problems started then. Anyone looking at the listing sees a master bedroom and terrace upstairs, overlooking the sea. We were put in a small dark bedroom she had chosen on ground floor, with a window looking at our parked car, and large baby changing stand wedged into the corner. The master bedroom was locked up, and no outdoor furniture was there. I asked why bedroom locked, and manager started to yell that it was too hot. The house has AC. We had to insist we wanted the master bedroom. My husband and I moved furniture out of storage for over 2 hours to make the place look like listing. We paid extra for sheets cleaned with no scent. The sheets and towels we got stunk, and had to air out for days. I noticed the pool umbrella was missing. I was told there was none. Turns out a previous guest destroyed it. We got one days later. There was a huge nest of ants, caretaker tried to cover with dirt (?) and a huge nest of ants behind stove. Ants are common, not to this extent. An exterminator was needed. Satellite TV was nonexistent. The husband came to fix it, after several hours, he said the antenna not working. There was no instruction book for systems and appliances. The water stopped running, and husband came yet again to fix. He said road work knocked pump out. We learned how to reset, but it kept breaking all the time, even in the middle of the night. The entire stay was stressful and having the managers in and out was time consuming. There were so many other little problems as well, like no can opener, etc. Managers were nice, but not organized or forthcoming at all. It would be so easy to rectify these problems. The area is beautiful with great beaches and restaurants, and fixing the problems would be so simple.
