We are sorry to inform our former and future guests that due to Georgia Power enforcing a lake management policy to limit use of Lake Burton, we are having to cease all rental of our home. While we disagree with their interpretation of our land lease, we have neither the resources nor energy to fight their position so will have to reluctantly but respectfully comply. This is our prized home away from home. We invite you to share it with us. Please read about all the features of Flying Horse Lodge below. We have put a lot of time, effort and have gone to great expense to make it comfortable, upscale and special. It is very personal to us so we only ask that if you stay with us you treat it as if it was your own.
Experience the upscale lifestyle at Flying Horse Lodge. Spend a weekend, a week or more in our very fabulous lake home (valued at close to $1.6MM) with all the amenities; central A/C (only needed on rare occasions up here in the mountains), all electronics including DSL high speed internet service (why would you want them if you're getting away but we have 'em), full sized pool table in pool table room, two dens (one for adults and one could be for the kids) plus a game/reading area in the loft overlooking the great room, our stone patio with a very popular fire pit, a fabulous two level boathouse with covered eating/lounging areas, sink, refrigerator, microwave, floating swim platform, covered lower porch and sun deck, protected swim area for little kids. Enjoy fishing, sunning, relaxing, reading, water sports, swimming, kayaking and more. We have water toys, canoes and kayaks for your use. Bring your boat or rent from Anchor Marina or LaPrade's.

See map. We're directly across wide water from Camp High Harbor and an easy 1 hr 45 min drive from Atlanta. Take US 76 west from Clayton, GA about 9 miles, cross over the bridge and turn right immediately past the bridge on to Vickers Rd. (now paved!) Proceed about 1/2 mile to 364 Vickers Rd, our drive will be on right where the double yellow line ends.
Enter on the MAIN LEVEL:
Starting with a screened porch and wide entry to the upper veranda and full width deck, a new elegant kitchen with granite counter tops, custom pecan cabinetry, under cabinet lighting, Granite topped breakfast bar adjoining the large dining area, a large wine chiller and all new stainless steel appliances. The large wood-burning fireplace is the focal point in the living room which faces the lake. A full entertainment system with Hi-Definition flat screen TV, whole house HD-DVR and surround sound stereo. The main level has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with twin beds and a full bath with tub.
Flying Horse Lodge has a super spacious Master Bedroom with a King bed, large flat screen Hi-Definition TV & HD-DVR, private bath with his and her vanities, a Jacuzzi and separate shower/necessary room. Completing the top level is a cozy family/game room/loft with a queen sleeper, a quiet retreat for reading, relaxing, playing games or taking a nap and a full laundry room.
Another game/family room, flat screen TV, wet bar, bedroom with twin beds and the “Crown Jewel” a full sized pool table room with it's own flat screen TV whole house DVR. The outside door leads to the covered lower level veranda outside for swinging in the log swing, rocking, and viewing our new fire pit and the lake. Walk on down the stairs to more decks with a walkway to the two story boat house.
Then there's our BOATHOUSE:
While Flying Horse Lodge is not far from the historic north Georgia town of Clayton, you'll never have a reason to leave just hanging out on this fabulous boat house. A Covered party deck with sun deck on the upper level with a large flat screen TV, mini-refrigerator, sink, microwave and seating for 16. You will relax and enjoy the gorgeous lake and mountain views, fish if you want and swim from the docks and floating swim platform. Use our canoes and kayaks to explore the lake. There is plenty of room for your boat or jet skis or rent a boat for one of three companies and enjoy all of Lake Burton. Come on down to swim, fish, sunbathe, canoe, kayak or watch the kids swim in the protected swim area and just relax. Don't forget your camera! You'll want to savor your memories from Flying Horse Lodge.
The FIRE PIT:
Our latest addition. Enjoy s'mores and telling fireside stories, Grill on the barbie and watch the stars. This spot has become a favorite of our guests, you'll love it.
Visit the Persimmon Creek Vineyard just around the corner on Persimmon road. Go to the historic town of Clayton, just a few miles down GA 76 to find fine dining, antiquing, and flea markets or exploring. Hike waterfalls and mountain paths. Visit the quaint German town of Helen, GA a few miles to the west or go to Scudder's auction in Highlands, NC just 32 miles to the northeast.

We don't smoke; so if you do, we ask that you only smoke outside.
***Please note our pet policy: “If you are considering bringing a pet, we will only consider one small dog. No other pets please. We require that you email us a photo of your small dog for prior approval and if approved, renter’s insurance is required, about $40, plus a $25/day pet fee. Your pet must sleep in a crate. You may use the large crate we have on the screen porch. (Anyone with an unapproved pet may be asked to leave and forfeit their rental.)”

*** Note our Number of guest limit: 7 is the maximum number of guests for the posted rates. 2 more guests may be added for a $25/night each premium. 9 is the ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM number of all guests INCLUDING CHILDREN. If you end up with more than the contracted number of guests you will need to arrange alternate accommodations for them. If you need to accommodate more, contact L.J. above and he will be glad to assist you in finding a second property or one with more room.
• Additional guests visitors: No extra overnight guests beyond our maximum of 7(9) total, (i.e. family reunions, wedding parties, holiday parties are not allowed.) A few (2-3) day only/non-overnight guests beyond the maximum would be acceptable.
If you exceed these limits, your stay will be subject to termination and forfeiture of your rental payments.
Sorry to be so strict but a few have taken advantage of us leading to our having to adopt these policies.
***A note about pricing: We get many inquiries, some are “bottom fishing” for the cheapest rate. If that is your objective, we are not for you. Our rates are posted here on our VRBO website, click “Rates” below photo. We have a very high quality special home that we offer on a limited basis for guest use. We feel we have priced it fairly for the quality of our property, location and the amenities we offer. If you are looking for the best VALUE, Flying Horse Lodge is worthy of your consideration. Listed prices are firm unless the dates you desire are open 10 days prior to the arrival date. Until your booking is confirmed, rates are subject to change without notice.
***(Note; Lake Burton is lowered ~8' yearly beginning Mid November or early Dec and back to full pool by April. This time is much more serene. There is still plenty to do, explore the shore (there's still lots of deep water), kayak, canoe, cozy up to a fire, roast marshmallows in the new fire pit. Nature is spectacular from occasional winter storms to snow once in a while. This is magical to experience but you will need a 4 wheel drive if it really snows!
