About this property

Old fashioned designer front porch living by the sea with expansive water views.

Our quiet white shingled 'Nantucket Style' cottage perches herself overlooking the soft breezy tranquil waters of Mt. Hope Bay and is directly on a private beach. This charming Beach Chic Rose Cottage transports you to life in a bayfront home. The Victorian 30 foot white wicker porch is covered with flowers spilling from their window boxes and is infused fresh ocean air. It is awash in breezy ocean colors overlooking at the sea. It is the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee watching the red sunrise or have a glass of wine watching the captains billowing sails go by towards their open sea adventure. A balmy night, the moonlit sea, a soft breeze, the infusion of fresh sea air throughout the house, sultry music together with a dazzling view of twinkling lights across the bay bridge make for one of the most memorable evenings of the summer! You won't want to leave your front porch! The coastal appeal, cushy down pillows, hand rolled towels and your personal platters of treats awaits your arrival! See You in Here in 2014!

The tranquil blue and white 'Captains Room' overlooking the ocean is thoughtfully appointed in April Cornell blue and white designer linens, down pillows and down duvets and is perfect for a plush week of restful sleep. Keep your windows open to hear the water lapping against the shore.
The sun soaked 'Rose Garden' room is done in a cottage white and blue decor, white wicker and also has special touches of down pillows and duvets. It is sun soaked and has climbing roses in front of its windows along with window boxes full of blooms and beachy themed accents.

A new English white kitchen with bead board white cabinets, butcher block counters, gas stove and a farmers sink is ready for you to enjoy if you decide to cook or just make tea. Our Blue and White English China is a nice appointment for tea and scones or fresh lobster salad which is plentiful here in Bristol! Local wine is left for you in the fridge along with your personal platter of treats upon your arrival! We are open winter, spring, summer or fall. We decorate and suggest visits during our towns celebrations each season. Of course Fourth of July is a pinnacle in Bristol and is exciting to experience right down to our Red, White and Blue stripped streets! Although there is much to to here, many of our guests just
spend your time on our patio outside overlooking the beach relaxing on our comfortable padded chaise lounge chairs.

Some of our guests fish directly in front of the house for their catch of the day. You can shell all day and walk the beach or take your own boat, call for our mooring availability and capacity. Anyone who wants a get away for a special occasion or just a vacation, this is a special place to come and not far from any adventure, including the fantastic Newport Mansions, Polo Grounds, Roger Williams Zoo, the stately homes of Bristol, our favorite casual restaurants, golf, etc...
Come prepared for anything, or just bring your flip flops and enjoy being at home on the beach!

Nice place but no privacy
This rental was pretty with a lot of amenities included. The host and her family were very nice but gave very little privacy. (Sheer blinds and a few windows with no coverings at all made it easy to see in, property was being landscaped or plants watered every day of our stay). The owner also had two other rentals across the sidewalk which made this stay feel very public. This stay was nice but it was not depicted very well in the listing. A hotel would have felt more private.

Beautiful cottage with amazing views
Quiet, serene with your own beautiful beach and views. Cottage has everything you’ll need with many personal touches. Host goes out of her way to provide a wonderful experience - lots of pride in her home and sharing it. Pictures tell an accurate story!

Cozy and comfortable
This was the perfect place for our family to relax for the week! The cottage is so incredibly comfortable, well appointed and immaculate! It’s close to town which is absolutely adorable and the restaurants are amazing. Dee is such a warm and friendly host and had the best suggestions of where to go. She also leaves a lovely welcome platter of goodies in the fridge upon arrival which was a very sweet touch. We were unfamiliar with the area before this trip and we hope to come back!

Beautiful Cottage
From the start, we could tell this was going to be a real find. The home was easy to book, access and even more beautiful than shown in the pictures. It had everything needed and more…a welcome platter in the fridge, special soaps and shampoo in the bathroom, a complete kitchen, and chocolate treats in little surprise places….all before we even looked up at the most magnificent view and patio on the beach. What a relaxing stay we had in comfy beds, furniture and climate…the ac kept us nice and cool even though it was pretty hot outside. And the owner was so responsive when we called about whether the laundry detergent was ours to use (no replacement needed). It is also only a 5 minute drive to town with fun restaurants, live music on Saturday and an ice cream stand to die for (all with recommendations by the owner). We offered to house trade as we left…wanting to return again and again.

Nice little place - Pictures are outdated.
Overall the trip was fine - house was cute and clean. The view was great. The pictures were outdated and if they would have been more up to date, we wouldn't have stayed there. The rooms didn't really have privacy or A/C - if you slid the doors closed, you were on fire. If you left them open you were giving a peep show. The house was a TJ Max/Home Goods hoarders paradise - too much stuff everywhere with tags. The couch wouldn't stay together, so we kept slipped through it. The internet was out half the time and sorry, but in today's age that's kind of a big deal - we had schedule around our day to meet the cable guy. The house is too expensive per day for some of the issues.

We are a romantic couple who love the beach and small historic seacoast villages. We live in a lovely historic town in Massachusetts however love the coast and the milder temperatures of Bristol, Rhode Island. We have built several homes in the past and I am an interior decorator and we loved the challenge of taking a historic home on the ocean and creating a home away from home by the sea. It's a hard place to rationalize owning if you don't share it with others. There's no place like the beach!

Why they chose this property

We were fortunate enough to have an opportunity to buy a lovely 'Nantucket' style rose cottage on the beach in a private, quiet neighborhood in Bristol, RI. This quaint town is still a treasure that no one has found! We are far enough removed where we are located in Bristol but near every amenity. We don't have to take a plane or a boat to get to our beach house. It is an easy drive for us and most people to get here. There is so much to do and not the hustle and bustle that some of the more tourist towns can have. The unique restaurants, antique stores, boutiques and parks are within our bicycles reach! We get up in the morning and look at the red sunrise over the ocean as we sip our morning coffee and our neighborhood heron greets us on the beach.

What makes this property unique

The sound of the ocean lapping against the shore in front of the house is mesmerizing. The spectacular view of the sailing boats billowing by the house is why we named it Bristol Sails. The Swans that visit are all gentle reminders you are on the beach and can enjoy the peaceful life here. Stay home all day and enjoy it in flip flops, cook outside and enjoy the outdoors or get ready to adventure everyday to a newly discovered spot in Bristol or neighboring towns. Unique treasure hunting at the local antique or upscale consignment shops is fun or taking in a Polo match, golfing or picnics in Colt State Park are fantastic!
