8,500 square foot home on 45 acres, overlooking a beautiful private lake, ringed by the North Georgia mountains.

Located 1 hour north of Atlanta. This beautiful home sits in the middle of thousands acres of timber land and National Forests... you will have no neighbors. The 150 ft wrap around deck affords a view that must be seen to be appreciated.

The perfect setting for large groups of friends, family gatherings, wedding parties or corporate getaways. The house is conveniently divided in order to allow privacy amongst our guests.

It sleeps 17 people in regular beds and a baby 's crib, plus 3 queen sleeper sofas and 5 standard sofa's for additional sleeping. There are two stairways leading to separate upstairs areas. The master suite is on the main floor along with an additional bedroom,the living room and beautiful dinning room. The game room with pool table, dart board, ping pong table , card and gaming tables, along with the home theater room are on the lower level and exit's onto the pool deck. On the main level five separate exits lead to the wrap around deck which overlooks the pool to the side of the house and the lake and mountains to the rear. From this deck take either of the two stairways to the pool deck or continue down the 127 steps leading to the lake and the floating dock where you will find a john boat as well as a peddle boat. If you like to fish you've come to the right place, bass, trout and bream swim in abundance in the 14 acre lake. If you don't feel like heading down to the lake stay up top and enjoy the seven person hot tub, a 20' x 40' swimming pool with stone deck. Picnic tables, stools, lounge chairs and outdoor sound system make relaxing easy. A huge kitchen, surrounded by windows with a large dining table and a large stone fireplace serves as a great gathering place. All this makes it possible to spend time enjoying friends and family while still being able to find your own private space to read, relax, boat, swim,or watch movies and sports on TV.

There is a 'mother-in-law' suite on the lower level which can sleep 6-8 and has a living area, kitchenette and full bath.

If you want to do a little exploring by car there is plenty to see in the area. Ellijay, the apple capital of Georgia, is 25 minutes away. The entrance to Amicalola Falls State Park is less than a 10 minute drive. Hiking trails and horseback riding opportunities abound. Tubing and white water rating is available and only minutes away. The historic town of Dahlonega is 15 mile drive and there you will find many interesting shops and restaurants. The Chestatee Wildlife Preserve, home to tigers, bears, camels, monkeys and more, is located on Old Dahlonega Highway (SR 115) in Dahlonega. The Premium Outlet Malls are 20 minutes away in Dawsonville.

But if you want to just spend time away from it all this is the place, sit on the deck overlooking the lake and watch the sun set behind the mountains, boat or fish, walk wooded trails or sit by the pool and cook on the grill. Minimum stay may be required (-:

Last minute escape

Our group of 6 adults and 5 kids were looking for a quick escape from the Florida problems and without fail Edwin and Melinda delivered like always! We had a great stay for the week, stocked up at the local Walmart on groceries, used the bbq to grill, and used this location as the launching point to visit waterfalls and local sites. This property is nestled in the center of a ring of mountains untouched by development or tourists. You can yell from the deck and the only thing you hear are the echoes of your cares fading away! The kids loved the game room below and the parents loved the kitchen and living areas. 5 stars is too low for the view that will literally rip your breath away the first time you see it

Great Potential!

The staff is awesome, and the private lake is a huge plus. We let some things slide last year but noticed repeats and new issues. Overall, the house is not well maintained, basement is very musty, and much of the bedding and furniture was dirty (found blood on comforters). As stated in the title, this place has great potential and has much to offer, but the owners need to step it up.

Nice but needs some work

The house and the surrounding property are nice and very private. The house seems like it was very nice 20 years ago but it could use some TLC at the moment. Here is why I gave it three stars:

- The master bath is really nice but if you use all of the jets in the shower it causes water to flow through the ceiling in the basement. When I called the owners they said "oh yeah, we should really fix that" and didn't seem to care that much. There are numerous water spots on the ceiling

- The stairs going down to the dock are a bit scary. They seemed to shift under our weight a lot.

- The whole process with the owners is very communication intensive. With every other house I've rented, it is a rarity to actually see or speak to the owners. As someone who rents these mountain houses to get away, that is part of the appeal. I saw the owners on four different occasions during my stay. They where there finishing up some work when I arrived, they came back again that night. The next day they came over to check on the place. When I was leaving, i was asked to walk through the house and asked to do the few dishes that were in the sink that didn't fit in the dishwasher. I could have done without any of those encounters.

All of that being said, I would rent this house again if the water issues were resolved. It worked well for our group and had ample space.

Owner's Response: The Jackson Lake House has been operating as a vacation rental for 10 years. We accommodate large extended families, church groups, youth groups, and college groups of all types and welcome them to avail themselves of our spacious home. We work continuously to keep our home extremely clean and all systems operating properly. We never stop working towards this goal but at times we must depend on outside contractors, as was the case in this instance . As to guest’s complaints.... In the case of the leaky shower this guest has quoted us as saying “oh yeah, we should really fix that.” Then stated we didn’t seem to care that much. I take great exception with his quote as well as his perceived notion that we were cavalier toward any necessary action to have the issue resolved. The guests declined our offer to walk through the house at check in where they would have been able to ask questions and where we take the opportunity to make our guests aware any issue with systems operations. The leak was a known issue and temporary repairs had been made so the shower would be usable until our professional repair service could address the issue. We had not repaired/repainted the ceiling below as we were waiting for the leak to be totally eliminated. As to the 137 steps the lake, they are confirmed safe and sound, but we agree it can be a little bit scary going down, especially if you’re made nervous by heights. As far as frequent presence at the home during the rental period, this is defined in our rental policy, and is our way of keeping the home safe and respected. Having said that, we determine per group if more frequent visits are needed based on the group dynamic and their demeanor. Years of experience hosting large groups guides our instinct here, and we do our best to be unobtrusive. Lastly.....when the group was set to leave a few minutes before check out, my wife arrived and asked them to stick around while she checked on the house. What she found was disheartening, the kitchen was full of dirty dishes, the garbage had not been bagged and taken out, food and debris was strewn about and there was a general disregard of our policy to leave the home reasonably clean. We do not apologize for this policy, and believe and believe that it meets industry standards. We would welcome this friendly group of young fellows to visit us again. We hope to have all systems operating smoothly and give them as much privacy as reasonable for their group.

Beautiful, spacious, comfortable home. Everything provided to accommodate multiple families.

We enjoyed our stay...a little taken aback by location. Needs to be identified better from the main road and should be told about hunting trailers along the driveway that leads to the house. The home itself is absolutely beautiful. Very spacious and accommodating for multiple families. (We had 7 couples.) A few minor flaws, but what house doesn't have them. Nothing the property managers wouldn't have taken care of if necessary. The house is quite a distance from everywhere, so be prepared to travel at least 15-20 minutes to the nearest town for supplies. (Dahlonega, GA, is a quaint little town, so be sure to visit often!) But it was less than a mile from the wedding venue where our daughter got married, so it was perfect for us. The weather in October was just beautiful. The temperature was in the 70s and 80s. Coming from upstate New York, it was a pleasant surprise.

Great Location

Our trip was running from Hurricane Irma who ran behind us. We were without power for a day. However, as soon as it was safe, the property managers were there with generators and made our stay as wonderful as possible. We plan on coming back next year for a fun vacation and look around the area. I can't say enough nice things about the location or the ones who take care of it. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a large place and some peace and quiet.
