About this property

3 Bedrooms and Private Pool in a Bird Watcher's Paradise!

ATTENTION BIRDERS, NATURE LOVERS AND HIKERS; Casa Maganda is surrounded by the rainforest and is a mere 3 minute drive to the entrance of Carara National Park!!!

Why stay in a crowded hotel or a condominium building, when for about the same price you can relax in the privacy of your own 2,700 square foot modern home with private pool?

LOCATION:

Casa Maganda is located in the popular Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Casa Maganda is located only 33 miles from the international airport in the capital city of San Jose. The main entrance of the beautiful Carara National Park is less than 3 miles from Casa Maganda. Los Suenos Marriott Resort, Herradura Beach, and Jaco Beach are all within a short 15 to 20 minute drive. The city of Quepos and the Manuel Antonio National Park are only about an hour's drive down the scenic 'Costanera Highway.' Casa Maganda is located on the bank of the tranquil Tarcolitos River and has an amazing view of the adjoining tropical rainforest covered mountains.

ON SITE STAFF

The biggest challenge with renting a vacation home in a foreign country is that most of the time the guests are completely on their own. There is literally no one to call if there is a problem with a stopped up toilet, leaky faucet, etc. What truly sets Casa Maganda apart from the vast majority of vacation home rentals is our friendly and helpful on-site staff who make absolutely certain that your family’s vacation is comfortable, safe, and worry free. Buck Jackson is our property manager who lives a couple of hundred yards down the street. Buck will be there to check you in, show you around the property and take care of any issues that might come up. Buck will also help you with ideas and suggestions of things to see and do in Costa Rica. Buck’s assistant is Nelson, who lives about a mile away in Tarcoles. Nelson is Buck’s handyman and assists Buck with any maintenance or repair issues. Noilyn is our housekeeper and she will make sure that the house is clean and spotless when you return from your daily excursions.
They are all like family to us and they take pride in making sure that your stay at Casa Maganda is a memorable one.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Casa Maganda has a truly awesome master suite with a huge walk-in shower with rainforest views, a 'jacuzzi' tub big enough for two, a walk-in closet, king size bed, a 30' plasma HDTV, deiling fan, incredible views of the lush tropical rainforest, and its own access to the back yard and pool area. In addition, there are two large guest bedrooms with a large shared bathroom with dual sinks and a walk-in shower. Each bedroom has its own remote controlled a/c unit.

LIVING ROOM:

Casa Maganda has three living areas! One is a secluded seating area which is absolutely perfect for quiet reading or a peaceful afternoon nap. The second is an indoor garden atrium with dozens of tropical plants and a peaceful water fountain. The third doubles as the TV room and is combined with the kitchen to make it the perfect gathering place to watch the 42' plasma TV, listen to music, or play games. There is also an IPod Dock to connect your IPod to the TV speakers so that you can listen to your own music. Each living area has its own remote controlled a/c unit.

KITCHEN AND DINING ROOM:

The modern kitchen has granite counter tops and is fully equipped with plates, glasses, utensils and modern stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher, stove top, oven, microwave and refrigerator with ice maker, blender, coffee maker, toaster, etc. The adjoining semi-formal dining room has a table and chairs that comfortably seat six persons.

POOL AND DECK:

Just outside the kitchen door is the spacious deck and pool. The deck has a table with an umbrella and four chairs, and two chaise lounges. The deck is great place to enjoy breakfast and watch for Scarlett Macaws. We have seen as many as eight Scarlett Macaws in our backyard at the same time! In the afternoon it is the perfect place to relax in the warm sun while you enjoy an Imperial beer (the National Beer of Costa Rica!!) or a glass of wine and re-live the adventures of the day, or simply cool off in the pool.

SERENITY, YET CONVENIENT TO ADVENTURES AND ACTION:

Casa Maganda is the perfect location for your Costa Rican vacation. Casa Maganda's location on the Tarcolitos river in the rainforest provides you with the unique opportunity of watching for rare Scarlet Macaws, Toucans, humming birds, and 100's of other bird species from the privacy of your own pool and deck. Yet you are less than 20 minutes from the exciting nightlife and restaurants of the Los Suenos Resort and Jaco Beach, the most popular tourist, shopping, and surfing destination on the entire Central Pacific Coast. It is literally minutes away from dozens of attractions such as Carara National Park, Pura Vida Gardens, the village of Tarcoles and the Tarcoles River where you can book tours to view birds and crocodiles, as well as several near-by canopy tours with zip lines, hanging bridges, and rainforest trams, golf, horseback riding, world-class sport fishing, surfing, fine dining, and casinos.

SECURITY: Equipped with an modern ADT security system as well as motion-activated exterior lights.

Great Stay at a Beautiful Property
This beautiful property is located in the rainforest just far enough away from the busy main road to be perfectly peaceful, you're close enough to give you access to beaches, restaurants etc. We loved our stay!

Christmas at Casa Magnada
Beautiful property and the staff could not be any more accommodating. Their recommendations for activities in the area are on point. Make sure you schedule them into your trip. The pool is a true gem in the middle of the rainforest. We saw macaws form there daily.

Beautiful home set in a bounty of nature
Lovely, spacious home set back from the main path yet close to everything (rainforest hikes, waterfalls, zip lining, beaches and several great restaurants) along the central pacific coast. Daily maid service was a nice bonus and spacious kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cook wear. Kitchen was limited on some basic food essentials (salt only think in pantry) so just be prepared for that and buy what you need at the local market. Pool was very clean and refreshing after hikes and activities. We saw several scarlet macaws, hummingbirds and many types of butterflies and lizards each and every day from the patio. Saw monkeys and toucans a short distance away. Quiet and clean, as pictured.

Comfortable home with character
We had a wonderful stay and are very grateful for the experience we had at the Sheet's home. We were 5 adults and we had plenty of space, a great kitchen (and grill outback) we cooked in for breakfast and many dinners. We enjoyed coffee on the patio where our bird watcher was able to see many species without leaving the house! The location is great and we were able to get to waterfalls, rain forests, multiple beaches, zip lines, ATV rentals, surfing and more. Buck was a great on-site resource and recommended a zip line experience (and booked it for us!) that was exceptional. He had suggestions for new years and offered to be available should the kids need anything during the night. He also recommended a good local butcher. There are a few groceries near by, a great pharmacy, and we also enjoyed the Marriott marina nearby by for a great bar (were able to get the Clemson game on their big monitor) and dinner locations.

Nice place and great staff!
We loved the freedom of not being stuck on a resort. The housekeeper kept the place spotless and did our laundry! Buck the on site manager stopped in to tell us the best zip line place to go, how to get to grocery store etc. It was perfect!! Secluded enough to be private but close enough to a ton of places to eat.

About the host

Our names are Steve and Bobbie Sheets. We live in Round Rock, Texas, which is just 20 miles north of Austin. I am an attorney and Bobbie is retired after over 20 years of teaching eighth grade English. We have one son, Travis. The bird's name is Blue Boy and he leads a pampered life at Pura Vida Gardens, which is just 10 minutes up the mountain from our house in Costa Rica.

Why they chose this property

We first visited Costa Rica in January of '07 and it was literally love at first sight. Five months later we returned to Costa Rica in search of a vacant lot to purchase as an investment. To make a long story short, we ended up purchasing Casa Maganda. Costa Rica has since become our second home. We spend as much time there as we can. We still can't believe that we actually own a little piece of paradise!

What makes this property unique

Because Casa Maganda is on the edge of the rainforest, it is tempting to relax and to just soak in and enjoy the nature that is all around you. And yet, within a 30 minute drive, there are literally dozens of exciting things to see and do. It is great to relax when you want to, but there is no reason for anyone to ever get bored. We try to spend 5 to 6 weeks a year in our Costa Rican home, but we still have not seen and done everything in our immediate area, much less in Costa Rica.

Our on-site staff is one major benefit that you will not find in many vacation rental homes.
