lake cottage

  • 2 of 5

-Pretty cottage but three of the 4 rooms were ice cold. There is terrible insulation and on top of that not enough duvets for the number of rooms. A constant cold draft came in through the doors and there was ice build up on the inside of the door frames.

-The fourth small room was too hot and smelled of fireplace exhaust, despite being far from the fireplace. We all had to sleep with the doors open to try to regulate the temperature but that was insufficient. Space heaters need to be provided to guests. I had to put on my ski pants one night.

-The sound system did not work despite following instructions.

-The hot tub was a nice feature.

-Very nice fireplace.

-A bathroom light bulb spontaneously exploded one evening and shattered the glass housing, with shards flying everywhere. We spent quite a while cleaning this.

-We were nickel-and-dimed on the security deposit. $50 was withheld due to some missing ceiling speaker cover, as though anyone would take that. Owner could have looked in a drawer if it fell from ceiling on its own and was put away. Even the insinuation of speaker cover theft is beyond anything we have ever experienced.

-Owner claims cleaning took twice as long as usual and withheld an exorbitant extra cleaning fee. We emptied trash, fridge, did dishes, washed towels, and vacuumed. Not sure why it matters how short cleaning normally is as long as we leave it in normal use condition, which we most certainly did.

-Owner charged an outrageous fee for cleaning the area rug under the dining table. It probably would have taken us a short while to clean if we had seen the stains. Do not agree to putting down a high security deposit.

- Nice location and view.

Counting down the weeks to go again!

  • 5 of 5

This place was absolutely stunning! The setting is gorgeous and the owner has laid everything out for you to take advantage of it. The dock was perfect for afternoon sun, the beach was perfectly groomed with smooth sandy entry, and when we got a bit chilly but wanted to be outside, you could do no better than enjoying the view from the hot tub or roasting marshmallows at night.

Inside was equal to the outside with lots of space and beautiful decor. On rainy days there was lots to do between air hockey, the pool table and the large screen TV upstairs. Lastly, master bedroom was beautiful and had a soaking tub and sauna plus a private deck.

We can't wait to go back!

Truly Memorable Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Jason for all your help planning a surprise 35th Anniversary Trip for my husband. We stayed for one week at Icicle Valley, and we could not have asked for a better vacation.

The cottage is even better than the pictures. The views from the cottage are breath taking. The kitchen is amazing and very well equipped. Our family spent a lot of time hanging out here, and taking turns enjoying making dinner while visiting with each other.

We were a group of seven ranging in age from 58 to 1, and the cottage had something for everyone. The waters edge was sandy and easy to walk into with our granddaughter. Our grandson and sons enjoyed fishing off the dock, and the canoe got well used. The hammock was a favourite spot to read and relax and the pool table was a great addition on the raining and cooler nights that we had. There is a very nice fire pit area and firewood was supplied (a great bonus) and we had a fire most nights. The hot tub was also used, and the steam sauna quickly became a favourite, The wireless connection was vey good.

Also we truly appreciated that we were able to bring our dog with us on vacation.

We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to family and friends looking to plan their vacations.

Our grandson's only complaint was "Do we have to go home? Can't we stay!" and we take this as a sign of an awesome vacation.

"Top Notch" all the way!!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived we were very impressed with this rental home. Each room was exactly as described from the website. This home has top of the line amenities with everything you could possibly need. We were traveling with a toddler and this rental had everything we needed to make our stay as much like home as possible. We spent most of our vacation cruising the lake system and the commute was a breeze from this location. Launching of a boat over 20' can be tricky using the launch facilities across the road (not recommended...very tight with limited manouvering space...use the public launch in Port Carling). I would recommend this rental location to others and are already looking forward to a return visit in the near future. Thanks Jason for everything...beautiful place!
