The Western Territory Slopes are just down the street from the cabin, but it’s a long walk in ski boots. There are 25 steps from the Parking Pad to the Cabin deck.

The cabin features Indonesian Olive hardwood floors throughout the main floor and carpet in the loft. With no offense meant to the West Virginia Mountaineers or any other fine school in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia, the owners were roommates at Virginia Tech and made this purchase together 12 years after graduation. Thus it seemed fitting to be the “Hokie Haus' Cabin. However this is NOT a college Party House. It is where we bring our families for vacation and we look forward to having you as our guest! Minimum age for rental is 25.

100% refund 30 days prior to check-in; 50% refund less than 30 days prior to check-in.

About Brett Snyder

Cameron and Angie have three children, Alexander, Aiden and Adelyn. They live and sell real estate at Smith Mountain Lake, VA. Summer is the busy season, but they're able to get away in the winter and really wanted a place where the kids would remember having their family vacations.

Brett and Cameron went to the same high school and were roommates at VA TECH. They lost touch for a few years and then ran into each other in their hometown of Staunton, VA. Later, Angie introduced Brett to Kim and they were married in 2008. Brett owns South River Irrigation in Staunton,VA and Kim is a clinical director with United Healthcare.

In Feb 2007, we went to Snowshoe for vacation and decided to look at places to buy. In Feb 2008, we went again and found our cabin. The furnace had caught fire. The pipes had frozen and flooded the entire house. It was foreclosed and looking very rough! Much to the disagreement of our wives, we knew this would become 'The Hokie Haus Cabin'. We closed in the spring of 2008 and hired a contractor to gut and remodel the entire house. As the season got nearer, it became evident it wasn't going to be finished, so we ultimately had to finish the project on our own. We finally got it ready to advertise and rent on 1/7/09. We were very pleased with the rentals we got our first year in spite of getting a late start. We were also very pleased with all of our 'guests'. Everyone was very friendly to work with and took great care of the cabin. We returned 100% of our deposits.

All of our rental proceeds stay in Hokie Haus, LLC for upgrades.

In 2010, we added another partner Joe Weeks, a National Guard Recruiter in Staunton, VA and his son Brenden to the Hokie Haus Family.

Why Brett Snyder chose Snowshoe

We love to ski and we think this is the best skiing in the region. There's always something going on. The mountains and the weather are beautiful in the spring, summer, and fall.

What makes this cabin unique

A typical day for us at Snowshoe starts with a big breakfast at the cabin. By 9 am we are on the shuttle for a 2 minute ride to the slopes. After a long day of skiing, the kids enjoy games at the Shaver Center and/or swimming in the pool. Then we cook a gourmet dinner back at the cabin and finish our evening drinking wine around the fire, while the kids play and watch TV in the loft. The cabin is perfectly designed for 2 couples and children. We also able to stay in touch with our business's while we're away with the high speed internet and unlimited nationwide long distance phones.

The best vacation ever!!!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was the best ever. We had a wonderful time. There was a lot of snow. The kids had a great time. Wish it had a playroom. The parking was AMAZING, right on the road so there’s no problem with the driving. Just an amazing experience. Loved it...would love to return to this cabin. The slopes were great and the village was super nice. Thank you so much for everything.

A summer haven

  • 4 of 5

We spent the month of July at the Hokie Haus and we enjoyed it immensely. This is a perfect place to stay at Snowshoe in the summer. It is just far enough from the village to be quiet and peaceful. It is a nice little walk to the Village and we could enjoy the music on Saturdays but we could not hear it from our house. Best of both worlds. The views were gorgeous from the deck and the air was cool and clean when all our friends down south were sweltering in the heat. The mornings were cool and we were able to enjoy the gas logs a few times to take the chill out of the morning air. This is just a great, homey little place.

Gorgeous! Comfy, great location.

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time. We loved the fire place, had a breathtaking view! Kitchen was well stocked and washer and dryer was much needed! We didn't want to leave, especially since we were able to play in the snow! When you add a bathroom and mudroom, it will be perfect. With kids in and out we did have to wipe the floors a lot due to the wood floors.

The shuttle was very nice. I highly recommend this cabin! Thank you!
