★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This home has 100% 5-STAR REVIEWS

'House by the Sea' is a rare 1915 oceanfront home with incomparable Hawaii-like views, and a sugar-sand beach. There are stairs from our land to the beach. This wonderful home has been carefully and captivatingly renovated in a yesteryear charm enhanced by the surroundings of a neighborhood of vintage and antique homes with verdant lawns and gardens.

House by the Sea offers luxury amenities while preserving the "Old Cape Cod" ambiance so appreciated by our guests. Modern amenities like the Sub Zero refrigerator, 6-burner 4-oven English Aga cooker, and central air conditioning and so much more all make this home idyllic, comfortable, and ideal for unforgettable family vacations. Screened oceanfront dining porch, plus an expansive seaside porch wrapping around two more sides of the home with rocking chairs looking out to sea. Soothing sounds of the surf while you check email w Wi-Fi on the lawn, looking over colorful Adirondack chairs on the lawn. arranged around the oceanfront fire pit.

This amazing house has 5 bedrooms (all with ocean views) 3 bathrooms. House by the Sea is decorated in restrained Nantucket style. Its oceanfront living room has a gas fireplace, wainscotting, beams, paintings, and books. The living room opens to the beamed dining room with ocean views and charming Oceanview bay window seats. There is something special about seeing the ocean surf, bluffs, and beach through 100-year-old wavy glass.

Wine/coffee pantry has wine glasses, Keurig coffee maker +automatic drip (Mr Coffee)+ French Press, stainless-steel 2-drawer drinks refrigerator. The well-equipped kitchen has the iconic Aga cooker (4 ovens, 6 burners, custom paneled exhaust hood), 36" stainless steel Sub Zero refrigerator, and honed granite countertops. Ample quality cookware, dishes, flatware, small appliances, glassware, table linens, kitchen linens, spices, condiments, paper goods, and laundry supplies.

There is a gravel patio with a Weber gas grill and teak English patio benches umbrella and chairs. Adirondack chairs line up on the lawn, where you can watch a sunrise over coffee or catch a glimpse of the big dipper on a mild summer night. You would think that all East Coast oceanfront homes have dramatic moon rises and sun rises, but not so… you have to be in the right spot, facing the right way, to get these glorious spectacles of nature. This is the spot.

You'll enjoy four private couples bedrooms 1) a queen, 2) another queen, 3) a full/double, 4) a king made of 2 singles (we can't get a king mattress up the stairs), and 5) a loft with a bunkbed.

The first-floor full shower-bathroom has a step-up (it's an antique house) and contains a 4-foot shower plus the laundry stacking washer dryer. The second floor has two bathrooms. One has a subway tile shower with octagon tile floor and replica antique plumbing with Antique-style exposed thermostatic valve. The other bathroom, newly renovated, has a shower, and pedestal sink.

From the vantage of House by the Sea, the arc of beach and bluff looks like a scene from Hawaii. There are 100 steps down to the beach, two landings with catch-your-breath built-in benches. On July 3, with magnificent fireworks rising from the beach, this is possibly the most spectacular place to be within 2,000 miles.

32+ nights are completely TAX EXEMPT. We welcome the 32 night rentals to lock in those valuable dates first, and then welcome the shorter stays to dovetail around the longer. We continue to allow a minimum of 2 days between families to high level cleaning, sanitizing, staging and provisioning for the comfort and safety of our guests and helpers. Break by the ocean
The views and sounds of the ocean were breathtaking and relaxing. For some of us like my granddaughter it was our 1st beach vacation. The community was very welcoming and neighborly. The house was stocked with everything we needed to go beaching and enhance our stay. We miss it already 😊

Reunion of sorts
I grew up on the cape but have never encountered this beautiful place. We are going to be forever renters. It’s hard to describe but I had my mother my sister my brother in law.. my college friends and their husbands… it was magical! We made lunch, sat on the beach and chilled. Everyone went home by 9pm. We couldn’t have had a better stay… we look forward to renting again. Honestly… Robin Jereaux rental was outstanding. I hear the property is owned by the Singer family… we took such good care! We look forward to many more visits! An absolute pleasure and joy. Thank you !

Beautiful home and View in cape Cod
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the “House by the Sea”. Everything we needed was provided; Lots of cooking utensils, and dishes. The views from the house and the porch were gorgeous. Our hosts were very helpful even coming to our rescue when we locked ourselves out of the house. The house was quite comfortable with plenty of gorgeously decorated rooms and dining and lounging areas. It was hard to leave the cool weather and return to hot Texas. Highly recommend this property.

About the host

Host profile image
For a decade or so, this spectacularly-situated antique "summer cottage" (of the rare substantial sort) sat un-renovated above a beautiful, white-sand beach. You'd drive past, jaw dropping just a little at the sheer potential of this gem, and there was a hand scrawled sign on the garage with a price so extremely high, you just kept driving. It seemed this house was always 'for sale.' It was way beyond my means and too costly for anyone else, it seemed. Knowing I could never afford it, I suggested to her (now on speaking terms) how the tiny titan might wrangle some tax advantage by moving in full time for a couple years, saving her large gain. Never did I imagine I could figure out how to own this house at her astronomical price. But the Boston RE market was surging; we sold our JP condo, cashed in my self employment Keogh plan+IRA, and bought it in its shockingly rough condition - barely heated, not insulated state, with homosote dropped-ceilings hiding the gorgeous original 1914 framing. She stayed until the December closing, where we were welcomed by 3” of snow indoors on the window sills.

Every year has seen a transfusion of green love… carefully upgrading this incredible, authentic Cape Cod "cottage" in a way that maintains its old charm. Year after year, better and better. We are grateful for the families who have come (and many to return) supporting the gradual transformation. This trust and support lets us pour the funds back into House by the Sea a bit more incredible each year.

We hope to see you, too, very soon.

Why they chose this property

This incredible 1914 oceanfront 'cottage' was one of the original few built on these famously beautiful bluffs. If you see the antique postcards, this was an almost uninhabited coastline. And back then, you could choose the best spot. Nobody else was around. As a few homes were built over the decades, creating an old-timey neighborhood, the homes were 'of the time' vintage New England style and are now part of this charming, casual-upscale walking neighborhood with lawns and gardens, children on bikes, and folks strolling the quiet oceanfront roads together or with their four-legged best friend. And it's not just for summer anymore--now you can come for cool weather ocean winter beach walks, cozy by the fire when you return, toddy or tea with your English pudding in the Aga. Not only are summers a dream-come-true, but now fall and early winter can be the best months of the year.

What makes this property unique

White sugar-sand beach, Hawaii-like views, authentic 1914 architecture, incomparable location, beach stairs, broad lawn, precious neighborhood with lots of amenities -- just an amazing, wonderful house in a breathtaking setting.
