Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had the best time, and I'm not

exaggerating when I tell you it was the best Thanksgiving I've had since I was a

kid. I feel nice and relaxed and wonderful. I was so pleased at how well kept and

supplied the cabin is. I brought half my kitchen with me, just in case, and didn't

need most of it. We had a lovely meal and my whole family is grateful for your

hospitality."

Beautiful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Recently stayed at the cabin for a girl's weekend. It's a beautiful space - very clean and plenty of room. Secluded, but close to lot's of nearby attractions. Owner was even gracious enough to stop by when he saw us out on porch to make sure all was well. Wished we had a longer stay planned!

Overall positive but could use little attention to details

  • 3 of 5

Overall the cabin worked very well for our family. The inside of the cabin was spacious and clean. A few things that could be improved upon is the linens just did not have that fresh felling or smell. Sheets and towels. There is a note in the laundry room stating there may be things left as they have many cabins to clean. The problem was we did not know there were more wash cloths until I bought laundry soap to wash what we already used and surprise there was more in the dryer. I think the linens not smelling fresh could be they sit too long before washing, or sit in the washer to long. Sheets just did not feel fresh and a little worn.

The other detail that could use a bit of attention is the hot tub area could use a little cleaning. Front porch still had salt bag & shovel. Sometimes the little things make all the difference in "curb appeal".

I leave this review as hopefully a helpful review. I am not trying to be negative as our stay overall was positive.

Great cabin but come prepared 4.5 stars

  • 4 of 5

Loved the location (deep in the woods) and cabin layout. Amenities were adequate, but you may want to pack paper towels, Kleenex, hand soap as those items weren’t stocked. There are a few stores within 15/20 minutes to purchase any needed items. Was surprised at the great cell service as well, wasn’t expecting that at all! Thanks for the great stay!

Owner's Response: Hi, Nichole! So glad you had a great stay! Thank you for alerting any future guests that a grocery is nearby...even though you are tucked away deep in the woods! We do advertise ourselves as a "self catering" cabin, and we try to make sure our guests are prepared for that (on website and in paperwork sent.) Thanks for reminding us to make certain this is fully conveyed to our guests. Best wishes, and we hope to see you again. Sincerely, Peter and Suzanne

Log home in the woods

  • 4 of 5

We stayed over the weekend with our 3 children. The log home was spacious and cozy. There are two bedrooms below with bathrooms that were perfect and a bedroom on the main level with bathroom with separate shower and jetted tub. We had everything we needed.

The pilot light was not lit on the gas fireplace so we were unable to use it and there was an issue with wasp. We killed a total of 16 wasp with a spray that was left under the kitchen sink. When I called about the wasp, I was told by a gentleman that he was on his way out of town and really couldn't help us. There were also mouse dropping in the cabinet, namely the one with the coffee filters, as there were dropping in the filter package. I understand that this is a cabin out in the woods, but I think my only advice in making it better would be to hire an exterminator.

Owner's Response: Dear Raquel, We are happy you enjoyed the layout and amenities of the cabin! We are glad you felt it met the needs of your family vacation. Thank you for alerting us to the "mouse in the house." We have already attended to that situation and have it under control. We are so sorry you had an experience with wasps. This is the time of year that they start to move again, so we always try to keep wasp spray under the kitchen sink for our guests to use if needed. Peter did try to phone you back several times, but was unable to reach you. This is unfortunate, as he could have also talked you through how to turn the pilot light back on. We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced but we are pleased that, overall, you had a nice stay with your family! Sincerely, Peter and Suzanne

Wonderful secluded cabin!!

We very much enjoyed are stay. The accommodations were relaxing with fireplace and hot tub and surrounding deck area looking out into nature. We also enjoyed the location near the state forest and being able to walk down the road and onto the park trails. So quiet and refreshing!!!

Girls trip

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed the location of the cabin. Beautiful layout. The bad thing was... There were wet towels left in the dryer and the kitchen cabinets inside were very dirty. Overall a 4

Owner's Response: Thank you for your four star rating, Julie! We are pleased that, overall, you enjoyed your visit. Sorry about the towels in the dryer...we manage and maintain four log cabins and a Bed & Breakfast (Peter's,) so sometimes it gets hectic around here and human error occurs. :) As for the cabinets...we located the two cabinets with some sugar and spice spills. Some of our guests enjoy cooking while they are here and bring their own supplies, so we will try to be more mindful of what might be left behind. Thank you for the heads up! Sincerely, Peter and Suzanne
