About the property

Condo, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths. Walk to ski if you choose

Our newly remodeled condo is located at the Alpine Meadows Ski area, at the very end of the road and next to the Stanford Chalet. Cozy and comfortable and feels very spacious with open beam rooms. This 3 bedroom, 3-bathroom unit with a loft sleeps a group, without using the living room! Queen bed in master bedroom, 2 double beds (in bunk formation) in bedroom with sleeping loft above (ideal for kids), and twin beds in 3rd bedroom, which can be made into a king sized bed and separate bathroom. There is also a futon in the huge master bedroom, which can sleep an additional 2. All 3 bathrooms are brand new with beautiful tile showers, cabinets and floors, and a washer and dryer. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need (we have had most holiday dinners there for the past 10 years). The living / dining room is small, but cozy with a wood stove and we have a flat screen TV and DVD player and extensive DVD library.

Plus, the location could not be better for an outdoor loving family, 2 families or group of friends. We chose it due to ease of adults trading off, running home for a hot lunch or any member of the family wanting to leave early and walk home. Zip over to the ski area and back by car, free shuttle or walk. During holiday periods you get to skip the slow crawl up and down Alpine Meadows Rd, and when the road is closed for avalanche control, you'll be skiing. This really is our mountain home, so there are games, puzzles and all the coziness you could want. All in all, it is very comfortable and suitable for groups with or without children. Children's videos and TV are in the loft!

When the snow melts, it is a very peaceful and beautiful home base for your mountain stay. Surrounded by trees and mountains, the bird watching is amazing, wildflowers abound and the hiking-mountain biking trails start literally right out our door. The stables are just down the road, and the famous Truckee River rafting spot is just down Alpine Meadows Rd. The extensive bike trail can also be picked up here.

After a day of summer fun, return to our comfortable abode to relax, barbecue, watch movies on our surround-sound DVD player, check your mail with our free internet. Guaranteed to be comfortable and have everything you need!

About Julie Sigourney

The 6 members of the Sigourney family have had many years of winter and summer fun in Tahoe. We live in Carmel, CA which is a 5 hour drive to Tahoe. We love both places so much that we happily make the trip back and forth. Both the ocean and mountains offer endless opportunities for outdoor adventure and creating family memories that will last forever.

Julie Sigourney purchased this condo in 2000

Why Julie Sigourney chose Alpine Meadows

We have skied in the winter and camped in the mountains since our children were very young. After years of renting condos in this location, our love for this particular spot made it an easy decision to buy our own. Located at the very end of Alpine Meadows Rd, it is as close to the mountains for skiing, hiking, biking and nature that you can get. It is so peaceful all year round, but affords such easy access to all that Tahoe has to offer (5 minutes to the Truckee River, 15 minutes into Tahoe City and Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley, 25 minutes to Truckee and Donner Lake).

What makes this condo unique

WINTER: Located at the very end of Alpine Meadows Rd, we're first in line on powder days, especially when the road is closed to the rest of the world for avalanche control. Easily close enough to walk to the slopes, run home for lunch or switch off to take care of kids. Avoids all the hassle of driving to ski. Get home and relax. SUMMER: As close to the mountains and forests as possible yet minutes from Truckee River rafting, the bike path into Tahoe City or Squaw Valley, and Lake Tahoe or Donner Lake. The best of both worlds. We love early morning bird watching and lunch next to Bear Creek. The wildflowers are amazing and it is so, so quiet.

Alpine Meadows Hideaway

  • 4 of 5

This was a very nice 3 bedroom condo in a beautiful area. The owner was very nice and the condo was comfortable. I would suggest a binder or list of information on using the fireplace, using the tv's and what is expected upon exit right out on the table. The internet was somewhat sketchy depending on the service being used. The location is great for access to Squaw Valley and a small town on Lake Tahoe for eating and shopping. You can't go wrong with this rental property.

Fun family vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

We are beach people, so when my youngest daughter said she wanted to see the snow I turned to VRBO and found this lovely spot place. This is a perfect cozy ski get away. The location was ideal, we walked to sledding everyday, it was a quick run to Squaw and Tahoe City and we watched many neighbors ski out to Alpine Meadows. The condo has everything this family of four needed for a great time. Julie the owner is a delight and made everything very easy. We will be back!

Best Ski Trip of My Life!

  • 5 of 5

I had never used VRBO prior to planning this trip. I reached out to the owner and she was very responsive and informative. All expectations from what is described in this ad were ultimately either met or exceeded. During our stay, the owners continued to be responsive (despite being on personal vacation in Russia) to any/all inquiries we had (though there were very few because they had provided such wonderfully detailed information prior to our arrival). We were interested in this particular condo because we were expecting to have upwards of 10 people in our ski trip group. After several cancellations, we ended up with only 6 people; however the condo would have easily and comfortably accommodated 10 had we needed it to as originally anticipated. The condo is very cozy and full of character from years of family enjoyment that has clearly yielded tremendous memories, joy, and some world-class ski talent! I have skied/snowboarded in almost every popular Colorado destination, Utah resorts, and Jackson Hole... and I do not believe that there is a destination in the continental USA that is as pretty as Lake Tahoe! We expected to spend a majority of our time at Squaw Valley but quickly realized that Alpine Meadows was a much better skiing experience. The proximity to the base of Alpine Meadows is very convenient; however if you plan to ski Squaw you can easily access a shuttle or make the 10 minute (max) drive if you have a car. I would absolutely recommend this condo to anyone; and I would especially recommend reaching out to the owners if you have any questions or if you are deciding between a couple of options. They will provide quick answers to any questions you may have, and they will not be misleading in their responses. I am not suggesting that the owner(s) of any other options nearby would be misleading; however I can say, with absolute certainty, and based on my recent experience, that the owners of this condo are individuals of high character, integrity, and sincerity. They made us feel welcome and treated us with the same respect and attention that I would have expected had we been friends and/or family!

Fantastic Condo in Unbeatable Location

  • 5 of 5

This condo is perfect! Adorable renovations, easy mountain access, the best sled hill in North Tahoe around the corner and world-class skiing without all the hassles. The sleeping options are plentiful and comfortable, the wood stove is warm and toasty and being at the top of the Alpine Meadows Road is ultra-convenient. Best of all, the owner is friendly, reasonable, flexible and accessible.

Great winter condo with kids

  • 4 of 5

We rented this condo to go ski with small kids. The location is perfect - just a couple of minutes away from Alpine Meadows. Not walking distance with small kids, but still very convenient.

The condo is very well equipped, comfortable and well maintained. We were snowed in for a couple of days, but there were plenty of board games to play and movies to watch. :)

The owners were very responsive and accommodating.

We're looking forward to come back next winter!

Summer: hiking and biking right out the door. End of road and very peaceful

Winter: snowshoeing on forest trails out our door, great sledding hill, 1/4 mile from our door to main lodge. Nice option to driving. Shuttle to Squaw Valley from ski area.
